Good for you on the weight loss SDW - I don't blame you for not mentioning it. You are doing it for your own health and satisfaction - it's not a competition.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I love people watching floss . That lady on the train sounds very stylish. And the lady in the cashmere sweater sounds smart too!
Bit of a people-watcher myself here:)
I don't very often see people dressed elegantly. But, if I do, then I'm quite likely to turn round to a complete stranger and say that their outfit is well-matched/suits them/elegant/etc as appropriate. It never goes amiss and there's always a smile in response.
I've bought a few cheap teeshirts in sales - as the ones I had had "had it" and they'll "do for the time being" but I've finally/finally/break out the fanfare started in on a diet-as-such. The Slimming World (Green Plan) that I did way back when. A good hard look at myself and I am size 16 now and should be size 12 and I've got those size 12 trousers/jeans still waiting in my wardrobe for me to be able to get into them again.
I think I've been too busy gutting the house and/or feeling too depressed to make much effort - but the house is "sorted" and I'm feeling more motivated to do so.
I don't reckon the new style Slimming World info. would be any more effective than my 2004 info I still have to hand - and so I'm doing that again. I can see I'm going to land up having a lot of vegetable stews and curries for a while.
Still "waiting it out" for my first appointment with a very "in demand" hairdresser here....gasp....gasp....and looking rather "scruffy round the edges" on my hair whilst I wait (so that they have some "length to play with" to restyle my hair when I finally get through the waiting list to see them).
Starting to take up wearing jewellery again and bought a couple of pairs of costume jewellery earrings and a costume jewellery necklace and hoicking out my gold rings. Planning on replacing a stolen gold wristchain or stolen gold bangle (they've both needed replacing for years - since teenage in fact in the case of the gold bangle, as it was stolen off me that long back). Just to be able to add a "little zumzing" to any outfit.
Little tip I've shared elsewhere on the Board - a YouTuber said it's possible to work out whether jeans fit by holding them up against your back, with waistline being held together by you at the front of your neck (where men have their adams apple). If the two sides overlap the jeans are too big, if the two sides don't meet then they are too small. If the sides of the jeans meet each other - it does actually work:). A couple of other people have now tried it and confirm it works. Yep - duly held my size 12 jeans up like that and they don't meet by about 2":(. Current jeans meet. Now I've got to get back to where current jeans "swim on me".0 -
7 day well done on your weight loss, you are doing brilliantly.
I am trying to convince OH that maybe we should pay for a decorator to do the dining room and hallway. He has a couple of mates who are in between jobs and thought they may want the work. OH really wants to do it himself, but its a big area and we have to fit it in around the children and full time work. I said that if he gets one of his mates to at least make a start, we could focus on all of the other jobs that need doing, like putting up shelves.
On the fabbing front, MiL went to Morocco and bought me back a lip an cheek stain whock is used by the Berber people. It looks like a Spinning Top and you wet it with water and apply with your finger. Its a lovely natural product and I am pleased with it.0 -
What a thoughtful gift from MIL chanie.:)
I'd agree with getting people in to decorate the hallway. We did that last year although both DH and I are quite handy with a paintbrush. It was partly a time factor but also because the high stairwell is so fiddly to do without all the proper equipment. One thing that also helps is that we have stripped, wooden doors so that cuts down the painting.:)
:T on your weightloss 7DW. I don't blame you not telling everyone, I know I wouldn't. When I was losing, I only told my DH as I needed to make some changes to our eating habits. For other people, once I'd reassured them it was deliberate, I just said it was down to healthy eating which was absolutely true!
I've no idea why SW don't promote the Green plan any more money but as you said it still works! It's ideal for vegetarians and loads of people like it because you can have extra dairy and fibre. The only thing that might have changed over the years is whatever you like for treats.;) That's either because they've reviewed them or because recipes have changed.
I've done some pampering this morning including a defuzz. I'm out dancing tonight so I'll definitely be wearing a skirt or a dress.0 -
Personally - I'm just bearing in mind all the money Slimming World must be making from selling "updated" literature and having people coming to "updated" classes.
I'm guessing that, by now, quite a high proportion of people have already done the Slimming World plans-as-used-to-be and got the general idea/kept the info. and therefore don't need to pay all over again. Hence changing it - so they think they do have to pay all over again - for "new improved version"?? Maybe also they conveniently think it's best for people not to be reminded of the weight target levels that used to be set - as, looking at current magazines, women seem to be on average setting a target weight at around 1 stone higher than they used to do. There are women in these current batch of magazines even setting a target 2 stones higher than used-to-be (in which case, according to them, I wouldnt actually need to diet at all).
Or is that me just being a cynic?:rotfl:0 -

Yes, it was a lovely gift and something I will enjoy using (if DD doesn't destroy it first). I normally don't like what MIL gets for me, but when she does, its always something I love.
Weightwatchers change their plans every few years. As the plan has evolved, it has become more like Slimming World, so there isnt much difference. I must admit, I do prefer Weightwatchers, I think I will look at the materials again tonight.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
All this slimming talk is making me feel guilty.....:rotfl: When I have moved I shall definitely get a grip although tbh I do eat healthily, but maybe I need to watch the portion sizes. Lol.
I think I will join a slimming group in my new area, it will be a way of meeting some of the locals and getting to know the area, although obviously I'm only moving to a different suburb not a new town or city.
Have spent the morning doing more sorting and packing, just one final go through the kitchen really and then double check the paperwork. Then once, I have got an actual date I can then start organising change. Of address stuff, and doing the switch overs on the utilities etc.
So yeah, still in limbo. Feeling a bit fed up and rather unsettled if I'm honest. Yesterday I was so cheesed off I even started looking for holiday baragains. I was very restrained though, I didn't book anything.....
Chanie.....I think there are some decorating jobs that are worth outsourcing, especially hallways and staircases. My new upstairs bedroom has a high vaulted ceiling so I will definitely have to pay someone to tackle that for me. Same with some of the ceilings.
I have actually been looking at paint sprayers but I think they might be more trouble than they are worth. I would probably get myself in a right pickle.
Actually what I will really need for a while is an odd job/handy person .....the boys are going to be just too busy to be of much help. DS1 will be full on with his fledgling family, especially when DILs maternity leave finishes, and then DS2 starts his college course in September. He will be reducing his work hours but trying to both work and study means he's not going to have a lot of spare time either.
Right time for some lunch and then a bit more sorting. I have found around 100 or so ball point pens and markers etc. I'm going to see how many have dried up and can be chucked away. :rotfl:0 -

I have told people I am dieting, and how much my weightloss is, just not how much I weigh, nor how heavy I was to start with(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I hope to lose about three stone but I'm not telling anyone how much I weigh either. If (or should I say when!) the weight loss becomes apparent I might say how much I've lost if asked. I'm not wanting to put myself under pressure and feel a failure if it doesn't happen as quickly as I would like.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0
