Thanks re win. Alfie and FireFly.
Firefly well done on your win too.
Alfie keep meaning to say well done in keeping up your walking and healthy diet. That was my intention for new year sadly has not started yet.
Know exactly what you mean about doctors.
Been raining here since mid morning so no sun.
DS is here still and has gone back to bed with headache and cold.
Alfie pleased to hear you out grew Hay Fever. Mine only started in my twenties and sadly show no signs of going. I should have started the homeopathic remedy earlier.
Good luck everyone.0 -
I've had a wem this morning from autotrader :j
& have won a dog lead:j

It's been raining here on & off for most of the day leanfun, not
even a glimmer of sunshine. In fact it's chucking it down now!
Hope DS isn't too poorly with his cold, don't blame him for
going back to bed. Hope he feels better soon. xx
I was very thankful that I outgrew hayfever - such a relief -
I used to dread summer. I can even remember the day it
started - as kids, my girl friends & I used to go off to play for
the day complete with a picnic (so much safer back in the
day). Used to have such a wonderful time, playing in the local
woods & hayfields.
Unfortunately, it was after a visit to one of the hayfields that
the allergies started to kick in. By the time I got back home
my eyes & throat were really itching & nose was running. Like
an idiot I kept rubbing my eyes which just made matters worse,
in the end I could barely see. Turned out I was allergic to quite
a few things in the end, not just pollen. Ho hum.
Have a lovely evening all .... I must remember to watch the
last episode of 'Cold Feet' tonight - love the series, brilliant. :T

hiya Alfie, yes,posted in IWIW..
thank you 2013yearofthehouse..
was dithering between the jacket & lead each day entering
but decided to stick with the leads as most of my animal
wins go to the local cat/dog rescue/s so they come in very useful for them :j
I don't go out anywhere very often so the lead/s seemed
a better choice
hope DS feels better soon leanfun xxplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
:hello: Good morning everyone

The fashion industry has a dark side, a lot darker than many of us
realise.
#SustainableMe
5 fashion materials you didn't realise were bad for wildlife
Including:
Fast Fashion
In recent years, retailers have increased the number of fashion
collections they release each season. Some high-street shops
rotate new garments multiple times a week. It is part of the cheap,
throwaway culture known as ‘fast fashion’. Every year, 100 billion
new garments made from new fibres are produced many of which
soon end up in landfill. This results in an enormous carbon
footprint. Polyester and nylon, for example, are made using fossil
fuels. Cotton production, too, requires a significant amount of
carbon dioxide. Fast fashion also leads to pollution with a
dangerously high level of chemicals leaching into our environment.
A dress might cost a few pounds for the consumer, but there is a
hidden cost to the wider environment, both for the low-paid
workers in poor conditions, and for ecosystems and other species.

your plans.

Morning, i was watching a story about this on the news Alfie, surprising what is needed to make clothes.I hope it makes people stop and think now they have started to highlight it. There are lots of young girls at work who buy new clothes every week because they don't like to be seen in the same things twice. I just raise my eyebrows at them.( Pointless trying to explain what the cost is in money and the enviroment to them).
Well done on the wins ff and leanfun, great start to the week for you both. I was working yesterday on the residential floor so had an easy day. Got a few days off now. Having nephew as he is on holiday and taking son to physio appointment this morning. So busy morning for me. Hope you all have a good day.0 -
Indie hopeyou have a good week with nephew. Great you had an easier day for once at work. Reading Alfie’s pieces about clothes made me think we don’t know anyone buying each week but you are seeing it with your young people. Agree with you no point trying to go into it with them. Sadly unless there are very major changes they won’t see it.
Sunny here already today. Feel sorry for GS who is here today. DH gives him breakfast. I had wanted to take him out but have now decided I have chest infection as well as hay fever.
Alfie strange story about my hay fever. In my early 20’s one January I had an accident. I was being very careful getting out of a small carriage of a train at Clapham Junction. I intended to step on to the platform turn around and take the case instead I fell feet first between the platform and the train. Panic. There was no one on the platform. A man carrying a brief case came up the steps hauled me on to platform put my case from carriage beside me. He got into the carriage and closed the door. Off went the train.
I often thought about the totally oblivious people in the carriage.
Fortunately I only badly sprained an ankle. I had new strong leather long boots on. The only ones I’ve ever had. Then started my problems with my nose. I kept telling all the medics they only started after my accident. They never listened. I hardly ever stopped sneezing. Anti histamines made me sleepy most of the time. Eventually I was sent to St Mary’s hospital for allergy tests. Consultant there told me he reckoned I had a broken membrane in nose and was allergic to silver birch which should only effect me ten days a year.
Roll on a number of years of sneezing most of the time. Thinking about it I can’t remember sneezing on my wedding day. During my first pregnancy all this dead matter kept coming out of my nose and then eventually the sneezing stopped like magic. Well except for the supposedly ten days per year that can drag on to a few months. I think somehow the nose healed itself who knows but after years of sneezing everyday and feeling dreadful I was mighty pleased.
Sheils hope you having a good time I can’t remember where you were off to.
Rose hope you had a good catch up with your friend last weekend.
Hope everyone has a good and lucky day.0 -
all
been another nice day here though tonight
has turned a bit chilly!
sad facts re the fashion industry Alfie & thanks for
posting link :T
to highlight it as sent to a couple of the younger
members of the family who do tend to buy new clothes a lot
sorry to hear you now have chest infection leanfun ((hugs)) xx
take care & look after yourself (((hugs))) xx
hope everyone else is ok & have a lovely evening allx

Morning, hope your feeling better today leanfun.Amazing what the man did when you fell off between train and platform. I wonder if he thinks about that day as well.
I am going over to nephews today to let balloons off by the sea as it' would have been my neices 40th bithday today. They only celebrate her birthday every year and not when they lost her. Can't believe it's coming up to 2 years since she passed.
Hope you all have a good day0 -
Ho Indie will be thinking of you and your niece’s family today. Does not seem like two years to us but the boys it will seem like forever. It’s sunny here so hope it is there for you all. Big Hugs.
Firefly I feel slightly better this morning but chest not clear. DS was really poorly with the hacking cough and now a cold. He stayed in bed yesterday.
When DD1 picked up GS yesterday she thought she was reminding me she has tomorrow off but I’d no recollection of her telling us. She has Wednesdays off so no GS till Friday.
Have a good day all.0 -
:hello: Good morning everyone
Hope you're all ok today. So sorry to hear that you've now
got a chest infection on top of hayfever leanfun .....

:eek::eek: You poor soul - it was a blessing the gentleman
came to your assistance - truly a good samaritan. :A I have
no words re the other people in the carriage who seemed
oblivious to your plight - the mind just boggles!
I should think you were ecstatic when your sneezing finally
stopped apart from a few months re tree pollen allergy, it's
such a relief! :j
Must admit, the fashion article I'd posted yesterday was
shocking, _pale_ good idea passing info on to the young
members of family fire**fly. :A I'm afraid I used to be the
same as a youngster, always buying cheap new clothes with
no idea of the 'real' costs involved. _pale_
I can't believe it's been two years either indie, since the
passing of your niece. Will be thinking of you all today. xx
Are you on your travels again sheils? Not sure exactly where
you are but hope you're having a wonderful time.
Hope you had an enjoyable time with your friend the other
evening rose. x
Have a lovely day all and please take care, whatever your
plans.
