Crikey! Think we may have the tail end of Storm Georgina
here this morning - it's really blowing a hooley but still mild -
combination of wind and rain .... sounds 'orrible!
Very well done with prizes indie - love the sound of the
shortlisted books win!
Hope your both feeling a little better today sheils and rose.
Have a safe journey today & a wonderful time away sheils -
take it easy and enjoy. xx
So pleased that you finally received the news you had been
waiting for fire**fly. :A xx
mumto2boys is such an angel. :A :T
Many thanks re Big Garden Birdwatch - I'm more or less
ready but need to pop out this morning and buy another
replacement fat ball container.
Just this minute been outside to check everything's ok
with the birdies - they were becoming incredibly noisy and I
could hear frantic 'warning' chirps. The culprit was a local cat
doing the rounds  but thankfully he legged it away
as soon as he saw me. Once again peace reigns and the
birdies are happily chirping away.
Have a safe day all, particularly if you're venturing out.
Please take care whatever your plans.

Morning, blowing a gale here and raining at the moment. Glad you can get things sorted now ff and get closure. Hope you feel better for your trip sheils, and the weather is good to you.
rose, hope you got some sleep last night with your cough easing. I kept waking up coughing and crawled down the stairs sneezing and coughing earlier. I took my meds for my back then had a lem sip.Feeling better now but hoping the cold don't get worse.I ordered a washing machine and had a email telling me it will be here by the 30th.Think the emails are arguing between themselves as had another one saying expect delivery between 25th and 30th. Then had another email earlier this morning saying it won't be here before the expected date on the 30th...lol.Oh well it will turn up when it comes. Luckily my sons GF nan lives round the corner and we can use hers till our machine comes.I was only worried about the uniforms as we all wear them so need clean ones. Right must get on, hope you all have a lucky day.0 -

Evening peeps. Had a busy day. DIL has flu and can hardly lift her head of the pillow. DS phoned me at 6am to see if I could come up and sort kids out for school. Their other gran was working nightshift so she was at work. He came down and picked me up and left me his car and took DIL's. Stayed with Dil until it was time to pick kids up again. Brought them here and they are staying overnight. DS has managed to arrange rest of week off so at least he can look after DIL. Kids want to stay tomorrow night as well which I don't mind as it will keep them away from maybe catching flu bug. I am keeping an eye on GD as she has a sore throat so hopefully it is just what I have. FF glad you are able to get on with arrangements now. Shiels hope you are ok and enjoy your break. Indie hope all you have is coughs and sneezes and it does not develope in to anything worse. We all seem to be coming down with ailments of one kind or another so at least we can sympathise with one another even if nobody else does lol. Been wet and windy and cold here all day. take care everyone.0

:hello: Good morning everyone
After the stormy day here yesterday, the weather seems to have
made a turn for the better today - no wind, very little rain and
the sun is shining away as I type! :j
Thanks fire**fly re BGB. Eventually managed to purchase
2 birdie fat ball containers yesterday in Beaulieu. Everywhere
else had sold out! Re low stock - it's a brilliant sign that even
more peeps are taking care of the wildlife now. :T Plus I
did treat myself to a cuppa and a slice of scrumptious cake in
my favourite garden centre.
Sending (((hugs))) to your sister leanfun - do hope every
day sees her feeling a little better. xx
So sorry to hear that your DIL has gone down with the flu
rose. It definitely sounds like the wretched Aussie flu that
is doing the rounds. Thankfully you are able to look
after the kiddies. :A
Well .... so far (touch wood ) I've managed to escape all
these nasty bugs that are doing the rounds. Must admit
though - I'm getting quite paranoid about washing my hands
while singing 'happy birthday to me' twice! _party_ :rotfl::rotfl:
Don't think I've lost my marbles (yet!) - it seems that singing
the song twice gives a rough time scale of how long we should
be washing our mits. Although my puddy cat really thinks
that I've lost the plot now! :rotfl:
Happy Burns Day to all! Another event to celebrate today
is St Dwynwen's Day.
St Dwynwen's Day
Is that love in the air? If you’re in Wales on 25 January, it
most certainly is. This is St Dwynwen’s Day, when we honour our
Welsh patron saint of lovers. It’s our very own version of St
Valentine’s Day - although we celebrate that, too. We’re just a
nation of passionate romantics. So here’s all you need to know
about St Dwynwen, and how you can get a piece of the amorous
action.
:staradmin Who was St Dwynwen?
A 4th-century Welsh princess who lived in what is now the Brecon
Beacons National Park. Dwynwen was unlucky in love, so she
became a nun and prayed that true lovers have better luck than
she did. We celebrate St Dwynwen’s Day – 25 January – in much
the same way as people mark St Valentine’s Day on 14 February.
:staradmin How did she become the Welsh patron saint of lovers?
Dwynwen was the prettiest of King Brychan Brycheiniog’s 24
daughters. She fell in love with a local lad called Maelon Dafodrill,
but King Brychan had already arranged for her to marry another
prince. Maelon took the news badly, so the distraught Dwynwen
fled to the woods to weep, and begged God to help her. She was
visited by an angel who gave her a sweet potion to help her forget
Maelon, and turned him into a block of ice.
God then granted Dwynwen three wishes. Her first wish was that
Maelon be thawed; second, that God help all true lovers; and
third, that she should never marry. In gratitude, Dwynwen became
a nun, setting up a convent on Llanddwyn Island, a beautiful little
spot on Anglesey. Her name means, ‘she who leads a blessed life’.
Incidentally, as well as being the Welsh patron saint of lovers,
she’s also the patron saint of sick animals. So if your budgie’s
unwell, try praying to St Dwynwen before calling the vet.
:staradmin What happens on St Dwynwen’s Day?
Quite simply, it’s the most romantic day of the year in Wales. We
exchange cards and gifts, gaze lovingly into each other’s eyes over
candlelit dinners, take long walks on deserted beaches, run
through meadows in slow-motion while holding hands, carve
lovespoons, cwtch up in front of roaring log fires, and put on our
smartest underwear. Just in case.
:staradmin Does everyone celebrate St Dwynwen’s Day in Wales?
Not everyone, but it’s becoming increasingly popular, especially
among Welsh speakers. But you don’t have to be Welsh-speaking
(or even Welsh) to join in the love-fest. You have our total blessing
to surprise your loved one with a special St Dwynwen’s Day treat –
like a weekend of Welsh passion at one of these wildly romantic
hotels, or a lovesome twosome at one of these amorous hot-spots.
Or for the ultimate amatory adventure, make a pilgrimage to St
Dwynwen’s Church at Llanddwyn Island on Anglesey.

Must be time for another cuppa me thinks .... have a lovely
Thursday all and please take care whatever your plans.
