Mooloo’s Managing it in 2018

Wishing you a good day Mooloo
Thankyou.
Most of the jobs on my to day list are started etc.
I have decided to go on a diet, healthy eating plan for the next three weeks. As I feel too heavy and my waistline is expanding too fast!
So I have brought copious amounts of fruit and vegetables and some seeds. She just said wow granny look at all that fruit, and is keen to have fruit salad for pudding tonight. We often have basic salad stuff but not usually such a variety as I tend to end up throwing out too much. Well this time I am hoping that I will get used to eating salads and not big meat meals that I tend to eat.
Also take lunches with me and not spend on baguette etc every day.
Mum and big brother spoke to me on Skype today.
My Mum will be coming home on Wednesday so Wednesday morning I will go and air her house etc.
I will do the curtains this evening after the circus.
We are just waiting for Biggest to arrive and then we are off. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Starting off on the back foot as I didn't get the curtains done.
I started them this morning, but I only managed one.
So the mission is to sort them now.
Just arrived at work and going to put some motivation bits on the iPhone and sew while I listen.
Started the diet, but couldn't eat the breakfast I think my oats were too old. So fruit salad for breakfast! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
First pair of curtains finished by 11am
Second and Third sets finished by 1.30pm
Lunch
Make a duvet cover, with a trim boarder, finished by 3.25pm
Fitting took 30minutrs.
Zip in coat replaced (old zip previously removed), 30 minutes
Bridesmaids dress started still to finish tomorrow.
Happy with that.
Day one of diet. Breakfast was yuk as my oats were out of date.
Lunch was good.
Dinner is in oven, verdict later.
Tired. Doubt I will Sew again this evening. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Spent the evening looking at hotels on the Internet!
Time flies when your messing about on line!
Late night for me, thought I might sleep better, but the weird dreams woke me several times.
I woke at 4.50 and have been drifting in and out of weird dreams ever since. Forgot to set my alarm so I'm running a little late now.
I hope to bring order to my chaos in a minute or I will not have a very good day. I don't need that to be an option.
I have to pop out to visit a disabled lady in her home as she cannot dovthe stairs to my fitting room. I also had an email from a disabled man about alterations yesterday, so it looks like a service I will need to consider so I am not discriminating against the disabled.
There is no space on the Shop floor to make a fitting room. We tried in the beginning.

Please remember that you only have to make 'reasonable' adjustments. You are not discriminating if you cannot make any!
And I know this will sound harsh, but if you are offering an 'at home' service, remember that while you are travelling you can't do any other jobs, so please charge accordingly!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I've a friend who is a wheelchair user. She pays a fair bit to have clothes altered so trouser hems sit level etc and Velcro put in place of zips. I think its great for her and valuable work too.Norn Iron Club member 4730

I do know what you mean, but presumably this would count as one of the extra living costs DLA/PIP are intended to help with. Should someone who is earning a living to support themselves and other people (not just Mooloo but anyone providing a service) have to earn less than usual because they are providing a service in people's homes?0 -
As the mother of a disabled daughter I am supportive of anything that does not make an issue or profit out of people with disability .
However I also expect if a hairdresser comes to a clients home they rightly include travel expenses in their charges .
Mooloo is running a small business and sometimes struggling to cover her own wage however many hours she works both in the shop and often into the evening at home .
I am lucky to be able to sew and alter things myself . I also think a lot of people would welcome an in home service for things they struggle to do themselves .
We pay plumbers and heating engineers and other trades travel costs so I believe the same should apply in this case .
I am strongly opposed to discrimination of any kind but do not see this situation as fitting the criteria .
There isn't room for an adapted room but many people would prefer to be seen at home for different reasons , pain , exhaustion etc can make trips to another location difficult . My dd has agoraphobia which is causing her problems at the moment so I can see a need for another way of dealing with clients and I think it is actually inclusive rather than anything .
Mooloo often travels to measure for curtains and the dreaded blinds and if she's wise will factor in her costs travel and time wise .

I don't charge for first fittings in the shop, so don't charge for them else where. I didn't add extra because I didn't want to.
I would consider a home visit price for anyone, able bodied or not, but didn't offer the service in my advertising or someone would take advantage.
I understand what Sue meant, and other people's opinions too.
I could take a stroll from the shop and see the lady today, I was happy to do it.
If I do visits further afield then knowing me I would just do it in my own time and out of the goodness of my heart, but I wouldn't advertise it .
I was once pretty disabled if you have followed my journey, and I didn't always get the financial help theoretically I was entitled to. I would not penalise a disabled customer, but my shop is so small I don't have space for fittings downstairs, and can't expect someone to strip off in the shop!
(Mind you some have done it before!)
I know that I am not destined to be a millionaire because I am not a ruthless businessman, but I am proud to say I have a heart and I understand the need occasionally to do something different. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
