  • Hi all,

I haven’t read back fully yet but spotted your news KATHRYNHA, I’m so happy to hear things are going well at last :j Hopefully your kidneys will get back their proper function soon. Sending you good wishes for continued recovery x

Thanks for the chart as always, please could you just leave me blank this week. I’ve not been good for a couple of days and feel that the scales will not be kind. It was so freezing today I went to Costa (don’t even drink coffee!) and got a mocha and chocolate brownie. Not sure how I convinced myself a chocolate brownie would warm me up!!:o

I seem to have good losses followed by falling off the SW wagon. Repeat repeat repeat.

Gotta go sleep now, all the best to everyone. Keep plodding x

  • Morning all

Great news kathryna :) Well done to all the losers.

    Yesterday's meal plan:

B - Fruit (orange, raspberries, strawberries and a nectarine) followed by porridge (HEX A & B)
L - Chicken salad (leaves, tomatoes, peppers, onions, beetroot & cucumber) squirt of low fat salad cream (4)
D - Ham, cheese & tomato omelette with broccoli, sprouts and cabbage (3.5 for the cheese)

    Loads of water.

    Syns 7.5

Looking forward to a banana today!

Not the best of days today food wise.
Sometimes as I am so skint I eat not the best things and today a friend brought me a chicken curry pir & a mini white chocolate cheesecake.
WEre both lush & much enjoyed.

When we went through a skint stage the other year my go to recipe was sausage and lentil risotto. With cheap sausages it could work out as little as 10p per portion, although to make it SW friendly it would be a bit more than that (and a few years of food price inflation)

Chop sausage small and brown in a large pan. Add lentils, rice, tin of basked beans, tin of tomatoes, grated carrot, dried mint and stock. Cook and keep adding more water as needed. It expands so much as it cooks and the rice, lentils and carrots are so cheap and filling.
It doesn't look great but tastes lush and is one of my daughter's favourites.

The mint can obviously be changed for other herbs.

Thanks for the chart as always, please could you just leave me blank this week. I’ve not been good for a couple of days and feel that the scales will not be kind.

  • Morning all on this snowy Tuesday :snow_grin

We have a functioning phone line and wifi once again finally after many struggles and in-laws are flying home this weekend (we hope) from a very eventful holiday. Finally everything feels normal again at last :T Just need to get back to 'proper' eating now. I'm currently doing a food shop using a lot of 2CC recipes this week as I've never tried their stuff before. I can't remember who posted about the corned beef hash but you have made me crave it now so that's going to be made this week sometime!

Well done kathryn on your fab news, fingers crossed for those kidneys functioning better soon. That sausage and lentil risotto sounds quite yum I may have to give that a go on that horrible skint week before payday.

I've not seen the chart this week I think I skipped past it but well done all losing and SOTW :T I'll be doing my WI in tomorrow I'm not expecting anything great as my eating has been rubbish these past couple of weeks but will take it on the chin whatever the scales say.

Afternoon from a cold and snowy hill side!

Over syns (again) yesterday as I 'needed' chocolate but will make up today. Found the salted caramel alpen lights in Morrisons so will try one later.

    Todays menu
B Bran flakes, berries and 0% fat strawberry yoghurt (saves a syn as I usually have honey and plain yog)
L Ham and chicken salad with free cottage cheese as dressing
    Snack Orange
D Aldi Low fat sausage with SW chips, veg and gravy
Aim to finish the day on around 9 syns.

    Well done losers!
Kathryn delighted with your news and hope you continue to improve.
Beanie my go-to when skint or lazy or nothing in is potato, spinach (frozen) and chickpea (tinned) curry, goes down well here and all store cupboard stuff apart from potato and onion. Like most curries, it's even better on the second day and freezes well too. Hope things look up for you soon.

I'm another for spinach & chickpea curry when I'm skint or even if I just fancy a veggie curry and haven't got loads of veg in the fridge. Another favourite is mixed bean goulash (from https://cookingonabootstrap.com/2017/09/20/mixed-bean-goulash-29p-vegan/). Really tasty and cheap.

    Today's plan:

B - baked oats; apple (made the baked oats with fromage frais as had run out of yoghurt - it was actually much lighter than when made with yoghurt so will probably carry on using it in future)
    L - LO 2 pea soup; 1 slice of bread 3 syns
D - sausage pilaf with roasted veg(2 syns for sausages). This is a new to me recipe from The Savvy Shoppers Cookbook.

    HEA - milk
    HEB - oats
    Syns - bread 3; sausages 2

May also have some Halo Top icecream for desert if I want something else although think the dinner should be filling enough on its' own!

:Twell done on your loss greentiger.

I do hope things pick up for you soon beanie.:) I think if I needed to have some cheap meals I'd do veggie with lots of JPs and noodles. I'd make a big pot of veggie chilli which is great with a jacket. I'd have egg and chips with pickles or tomatoes. Lately I've had a lot of stir fried veg with noodles and I can honestly say I don't miss having meat with it. I just raid the fridge/cupboard for any bits of veg, fry them up a bit and finish off with a shake of soy and some 5 spice. If you can remember back to the old Green plan you could have 2 HEAs and Bs too.:D

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk
L: ham, LO fried veg, beetroot, cornichons, pickled onion
D: corned beef hash with cauli and broccoli
    Syns: 3
