  • Good evening all. Busy day at work (again!) Working fingers to the bone at the moment, our company is taking on a lot of extra business, but not taking on extra staff, which means increased workloads across the board. I'm exhausted by the time I get home.

£29.69 for me today, from matched betting and citizen me.

    Evening

I received my first FiT payment today from the solar panels I had fitted at the end of September. It was a bit disappointing! £16.39

I am reminding myself that the readings were from October to January so all through winter with short, dark days so the next payment should be higher and the one after that higher still. I haven't seen a difference in my electricity bills yet either because I was with a company who didn't send bills at all and I have just left them after about 6 months so haven't been able to estimate usage yet. I am sure we are using a lot less from the grid but hopefully will know more once I get final readings from old company and get a bill from the new one. Watch this space...

Still £16.39 to add so total now £455.64

The bank still haven't taken back the extra switching bonus either but I will wait a bit longer before I add it just in case

  • i got another 10.00 in @mazon vouchers - but realized that i dont have a pair of flat shoes (not ones that dont smell from doing the horses anyway) and have a trade fair in two days - do not want to be trying to walk in heels - vouchers spent on trainers :( but if i look at it right - my trainers cost me - nothing! and i haven't bought a new pair of (normal) shoes in 6 years. - i still feel quite guilty and frivolous though

And i'm poor again.....off to list some more on ebay i think.
Missing my money saving mojo. :o

    Hi all.

So sorry I'm not around much. Loads going on.

I went to look at our perfect rental on Monday. Got there and the house had been rented that morning before I got there :(

It was perfect. Garage for all my junk, driveway, quiet street, families around, near my DS best friend, near the aldi and asda....

I drove around looking at more. Another one that DH liked there are three houses having building work done!! I said no.

In moneymaking I have been doing a bit here and there.

Anyone doing vypr? Last couple of days had lots of steers.

Hugs hopefully you find something even better.

    Whats vypr?

Sorry to all who are having a tough time.

I feel for you Aesop. I am in a situation with our landlord. Several areas and one room in particular in our house are so riddled with damp that wallpaper is falling off the wall and there was a hole in the front of the house that we reported years ago that was fixed in December. There is still a giant wet patch in our dining room from the leak.

Our letting agency got in contact with us to say the Landlords have said they won't do anything about the damp until the house is vacated...

Our house in many ways is fine, perfect even, but my OH is badly affected by the damp/mould and I don't get why the landlords would effectively try to force us out when we have faithfully rented from them for 6 years and they will only have to spend the money anyway to do up the house to make it fit for purpose again.

We live in a two bedroom house near the centre, near to lots of local useful areas, the street is a bit 'lively' but not rough and we pay £550 a month between us. In our limited research a similar size property in the same sort of area (neither OH or I drive so need to be centrally based) is around £800 a month.

I think it is time for us to move on, but on my current wage I could barely afford this rent increase, or I could, but it would severely delay my goal to pay back my debt by my 30th birthday.

To get on to the relevance of money making, I think I may need to get a second part time job, and I have seen an 8 hour a week job across the weekend at a certain well known retailer.

Has anyone worked 7 days in a row and if so for how long? Do you think I could make it work?

I sold nearly everything of value or that I was willing to sell in 2017. It's just tat and irreplaceable or essential things left now.

I did this for around a year.

I had my main Mon to Fri job where I would work the regular 8 hours and often up to 6 hours overtime in a day then a Sat/Sun job which consisted of two 8 hour shifts.

I only did it to save money so I could pay off a chunk of debt but I then got pregnant and instead had to spend the money on installing central heating and refitting my bathroom which had a leak (and subsequently rotten floorboards ).

Sorry, I've gone a bit off track but I admit at the time I was permanently exhausted and spent my days working, home for dinner, sleeping, waking up and repeating. I think it's do-able to reach a short-term goal but I wouldn't do it in the long-term as I think it'd begin to effect your health.

Thank you for your reply, I think short term is all I can manage as well. I was considering this as I have been reading Dave Ramsey's books and he greatly encourages people working every hour under the sun to pay off their debts, which made me feel a bit motivated.

I just feel guilty as the house has had problems for ages but we couldn't move because of me, because I was/am in debt, because I don't have secured jobs, because I don't have savings, I feel immensely guilty about it all because I quite like our house but OH has always hated it.

I just feel that if I don't get an extra job then I am not doing everything I can. This is very much in my head as OH is steering well clear of influencing any decision and says it is all down to me and he will support whatever I decide.
