I'm so sorry to hear you've been back in hospital CG. You've been so determined to get to grips with your finances that I knew you wouldn't have just thrown the towel in and disappeared, and I must admit I was a little worried that all was not well
But you're back and hopefully on the mend physically :T The budgets must be frustrating but in the grand scheme of things it's only money and you'll be back on track before you know it.
Honestly, I can't tell you how lovely it is to hear from you.xx

Ahhh you're so lovely tea, thank you for being there. No I hadn't given up, just s whirl of tests and morphine. Still in a lot of pain, but just relieved to be back home. Have done my physio and chased up some admin. I haven't however made it downstairs yet! Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230

Thanks homegrown it's been a rubbish start to 2019 and I've spent 28 in hospital. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that's me sorted, I will need another surgery in about few months.
Don't worry every task is a effort, so there's no opportunity to over do it.
I've had a look at the state of account, but need to get to desk to sort spreadsheet.
I have called sky to complain the increase in charges. It was going up £4 (£2 each broadband and call anytime) the cancellation department gave me £50 credit to stay. I've dropped the call anytime and our bill will be £27 instead of £37 and have the lovely £50 credit. Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
Finally trying to get the joint account under control.
Emergency Fund
EF has taken a beating and currently is £550.12. I'm gutted it's this low, but hubby has done his best in my absence. He's spent approx £290 on extra fuel and hospital parking. The other £160 was for one of the choccy s burthdsy presents and birthday meal out.
I'll try and rebuild this as quickly over next two/three months.
Joint Account
Balance £1289.34 / available £1277.56
This is roughly where we should be this time of the month. We have approx £770 de going out tomorrow then £482 the next day for the birthday mortgage. Hubby will need an extra fuel up today. This we mean we're around £10 in the account until rent comes in.
Food / meal planning
I'm going to do a full check on stock/freezer suppplies so meal planner as efficient as it can be. I do have £35 &sharpnel in my shopping wallet.
Feel like playing you catch up from last month, but will get there. Will update surveys and receipt balances later. I've taken my next lot of meds so just waiting for them to knock me out.
Hope all ok xFinally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
You definitely need to draw a line under the EF-bashing and do what you can to replenish it when possible. That's what the EF is there for after all, and it was good that you had it there to help when general life was up in the air.
You've got a good plan in place for the month aheadSealed Pot Challenge 075

You're completely right homegrown. I was absolutely gutted we've had to use the emergency fund. However, if it hadn't of been there the spending would have been on the overdraft. This is the last month hubby is paying the overpayment of expenses. My sick pay is £310 due to short month. I've looked at numbers in morphine haze and think we'll be ok. I'm hoping to add cash back to the EF. We have a quiet month planned and no planned kid's expenses so fingers crossed! Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230

Morning CG
Just checking in to see how you are and hoping you've had a better weekend pain wise.
I wouldn't worry too much about the EF, as HG said it was used for the sort of thing it was meant for. The trouble is we get quite protective of our figures don't we and it's hard for us to see them go down rather than up
I don't know how you're so on top of things as you are under the influence of all those drugs - I get things wrong and the strongest stuff I'm on is caffeine :rotfl:
Hope you have a good day in all respects but mostly in a pain free-ish way. xx0 -
I'm certainly not on top of things teas, the drug haze is too strong. I have managed to make shepherd's pie for dinner which is a start, but am back in bed with the pain . I've noticed in my absence the feeezer is full of lots of meat, few cards and no veg.
I've made a meal plan for 5 days which will take us up to the weekend by which time I'll be more 'me' hubby got my list of fresh and other bits tonight so fingers crossed we can start our nsd for March. Eldest has sore in her mouth so she nipped to chemist for gel.
The advantage of the spending like kings is that my receipt app have bumped up.
Nothing to report, bank account just enough to cover mortgage again and waiting for rental payment in.
Need to sit down and look at our budget for the rest of the month and allocate food, fuel and other. Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
But CG, you've made dinner, you know what's in your freezer, which is more than I do :rotfl:, you've written a meal plan and you know what's in your bank account. I'd say that was pretty good going considering what you're going through.
Our poor DC's with their dental/mouth issues at the momentI really struggled with my wisdom teeth so I can fully empathise with your daughter's pushing through at only 14! xx
