Went away for the weekend with OH which was great. Spent quite a bit but covered by money in the holiday fund. Had a really good chat about finances and have agreed to mainly focus on getting the emergency fund sorted. Luckily I have been with my job long enough to get full pay for 6 months off sick but we're both very aware that if this was not the case and I only got SSP, we would be screwed.

I also need to get more savings in the car fund as my MOT and insurance are both due in November. There's various things that we'd like to do in the flat so need to save for that plus we'd like to save money for a holiday next year.

While I've got plenty of time on my hands, I'm trying to do as many surveys as possible. I'm less than £4 away from the £40 payout on 0nepoll and am just waiting for some survey responses to be approved on PA before I cash out.

I realised that I had not received £50 for switching energy company so chased that up. I'll just leave it with the energy company for winter bills. I plan to have a look through all the bills this week and see if there's anything that can be cancelled/reduced.

I received £75 refund for train tickets today (for the train booked to get down to the GNR) so put £40 to the emergency fund, £20 to the car fund, £10 to the presents fund (have cousin's wedding, sister's birthday and friend's birthday in October) and £5 to the debt.

Been out this morning for a walk and picked brambles so will make a crumble this afternoon.

  • Is your OH any closer to being able to help with the finances?

Unfortunately not at the moment INOD.

This morning I've cashed out £24.48 from PA so put £10 into the emergency fund, £10 to the car fund and £4.48 to the debt.

My sister is coming over for a few days so will be great to see her. It should be a NSD today unless we decide to go out for a wander and a coffee.

NSD Thursday, Saturday and today. Spent some money on food shopping on Friday. Nothing much else to report - I've watched a lot of rugby over the last days and also been out for some lovely walks with my sister.

NSDs the last 3 days. Went out for lunch with a friend yesterday but she insisted on paying :)

Got my pay slip through so will get £1541.80 on Friday
    - £1050 usual bills
    - £150 car
    - £200 food
    - £80 travel/petrol
    - £30 car fund
    - £31.80 debt

Sick pay really doesn't stretch far but nevermind. I still have around £150 left in my account as I've not spent much this month compared to usual so that will do for various social things/presents. Anything left I will transfer to the car fund as I got my reminder through for my MOT, it's actually due in October.

I'm away on Friday for a day trip with my dad and then away with OH at the weekend to see his family. The following Friday I head home and then we've got a family (mine) wedding at the weekend.

I'm hoping since I'll be off work for around another month once I'm home, I'll be able to meal plan properly and keep food spends right down. I also plan to do some batch cooking to make things easier once I go back to work.

Over the last couple of weeks, I've slowly been introducing dairy back into my diet and so far it's gone well with no side effects. I plan to do the same with gluten and see what happens. I'm hoping that I will be fine as it would be amazing to eat real bread again but also it would make the food shopping a lot cheaper.

Between the day trip on Friday with my dad and visiting OH's family at the weekend, I spent £46.83 - £16 on travel and £30.83 on food which I'm pretty pleased with.

NSD today, watched the rugby and then went out a walk. Have booked the car in for its MOT mid October and have also booked a hair appointment for next week. I haven't had my hair cut for about 18 months so it's long overdue!

Need to start thinking about getting packed up ready to leave on Friday morning. I also need to do an online food shop to get delivered on Friday morning, this will save us having to go out and do a food shop once I get home.

Thanks monz. I do feel so much better, actually better than I have done for years really. My energy levels are not quite back to usual but that will come.

Today I walked to the next village and back to get a few things including some lovely bacon from the butchers which I had in a sarnie for lunch. I spent £5.45. I then did an online supermarket shop and spent £46.14.

Today has been a NSD. My £2 bank account reward went in so I paid it to the debt.

    Another NSD today :).

I had a GP appointment this morning so have been signed off for another 4 weeks - hoping at the end of the 4 weeks, I'll be ready to go back to work. I then went for a walk and watched the rugby once I got back. A friend popped round in the afternoon for a coffee and to say bye before I leave tomorrow. I just need to go and get packed now.
