  • 2 x spice jars (ood 1995 and 1997  ) emptied and jars recycled

Although overall total seems small, the number of actual pieces of paper which have left my home must be at least 2000 by now.

Hi Oceanspirit, my daughter insisted I release a jar of Chinese Five-spice seasoning. It smelled fine to me and I don't think it had been a long time since last used, and then she pointed out it was older than her and had a BB date of 2001 :D (Don't tell her I found a jar of Garam Masala which was BB Sept 1996:eek: :rotfl: - that was at the back of a cupboard, at least I hadn't been using it).

I have been counting paper items as 'handfuls', but the individual pieces must be well over 1000 for me too.
  • Cross posted Uncluttered_unicorn :rotfl: you are doing really well :T You do realise that once you have reached your target you have to start again :rotfl: Decluttering seems to be a never ending task :D & being able to find things at the drop of a hat becomes addictive :rotfl:

:T:T I do that too :, especially if I've been a bitt sluggish and need to 'see' progress. :D

I seem to have lost one of the quotes I wanted in this post :(Anyway just wanted to confess that I have done it too :D. Like Uncluttered_unicorn it was purely for seeing some progress an no other reason :rotfl:

Come on Mrs Salad Dodger your turn to own up :rotfl:
And you Basketcase, Oceanspirit, marmiterulesok, rootle and bit by bit. You might as well all come clean now and own up and then we can all put it behind us ;)

    Hello IrishRose

What a pretty name. Glad you have come to join us. We do have a bit of fun on here in between the work we put in doing our decluttering.

Oh and in case I forget to mention it later Mrs Salad Dodger does a lot of sunbathing, I mean an awful lot, as in a real awful lot, like sunbathing 3 or 4 times a day with her laptop/tablet on her lap and I'm not joking. So if you ever forget where you are number wise with your decluttering she is the one who will trawl back through all the pages whilst sunbathing of course and total all your items up for you. Then present you with the total with a big grin on her face :D. What a star she is ;)

OK, Ok you have twisted my arm , edwink :rotfl: I confess, I love a list & am guilty of all the ‘quotes’ :rotfl: Sometimes I even colour code :rotfl: I used to be a cricket scorer & used to use coloured pens - not to boast (too much :D) but my score sheets were a work of art :D & several of the opposition teams tried to ‘poach’ me :rotfl:

Perhaps we ought to form a club :rotfl: How about calling it L.I.S.T. - ‘listing is super trendy’ :rotfl:

    MrsSD

P.S. edwink, I will mull over your last post but I did laugh like a drain when I read it :rotfl::rotfl:

Just in case there was any doubt I love, love, love lists! Lists for everything. And then I love, love, love ticking things off my lists! :j

  • 1718 Box of Xmas decorations to CS

Thanks Mrs SD, we're still pleased with progress. It just felt a bit like dropping down a snake after steadily climbing ladders. We're in no danger of running out of decluttering any time soon, got a long way to go. Ooh, and colour-coded lists!! Haven't tried that yet :)

1719 to 1727 9 packets of unwanted cards made up for the cs (must be at least 70 cards!, and I've still got loads more. Don't even often send cards  )
1728 envelope from stash for a birthday present.
1729 Shopping bag used for cs donations
1730 Box of dominoes for cs
    1731 to 1736 6 slightly-used raffle ticket books to local fund-raiser
    1737 Holey t-shirt - bin
1738 OOD squash (poured down sink, bottle recyc)
    1739 Pen UU
    1740 Handcream tube, UU
    1741 to 1746, 6 books to cs
1747 to 1748, 2 portable charger, broken and recycled
1749 to 1752 3 x clothing plus handbag to ragbags
1753 to 1757 4 books and a card wallet tocs
1758 to 1767 School jotters, projects etc to recycling. These were stacks measured in cms.
    1768 to 1771 4 pens/ pencils to bin
1772 to 1777 School papers etc - non-recyclable. This pile was also measured in cms.
1778 to 1779 2 school shirts to ragbags
1780 to 1784 4 bras and an envelope from stash to Smalls for All.

Still got more, but that's enough for now.

    Best wishes to everyone :T:T

Thank you for the lovely welcomes.

:hello: IrishRose, what a beautiful name :D
The more the merrier :rotfl: You have made a great start - every item out is a weight lifted :T
I admire you taking on the 30 bags in 30 days challenge - I don’t think I would have the discipline to tackle that one :rotfl: The people on here are wonderful - if you ever flag someone is always ready with a kind word, practical advice, pearls of wisdom or just relating what has or hasn’t worked for them :D We are a friendly & sometimes funny bunch :rotfl:
Thank you. I have to say the 30 bags in 30 days had a lot easier than I thought it would be. So much so that it make me realise I really don't need the majority of this stuff. Having just returned from our holiday it also made me realise we have far too much stuff in this house. We survived 2 weeks with basic stuff and didn't miss anything so that's given me the kick up the rear end also.
I find myself doing one bag, then I'll go back when I'm bored and manage to fill another lol.

Lol thanks Edwink. I'm going to have to start from zero again on my decluttering as I know I've past 3000 items already since the start of the year. So make it easier to start from scratch. Nice clean start.

Just going to finish my cuppa then make a start on underneath my bed:eek: Have been putting it off for too long now so has to be done today whether I like it or not lol.
