You have my sympathy Mrs Salad Dodger. My motivation is so up and down at the moment. However in the spirit of do it while you think about it, I cleared part of the spare room in which DS2 is staying. This was 12.30 this morning as I couldn't sleep and he was still up.

It is a hoarders paradise. As I pick each item up I am working out if I want or need it and placing it in the appropriate place. Its taking ages as I keep stopping. I hate throwing anything away. Not to worry, it will get better.

  • 1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY

    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)

    3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE PUT AWAY BEFORE I GO TO BED

bit by bit, thanks. It might take a long time but doing it your way means that hopefully there are no regrets in the future:) I find that once I have started I keep going until all I have is a box/bag/basket of ‘undecided’ stuff which I can go back to later :D

Today was a hot sunny day with not a cloud and an occasional breeze - perfect drying weather :T

DSis is back to moaning about the heat but then assisted DH in the garden.
Now a little tale - are you settled comfortably?
Do you remember how excited I was about my new shed & how grateful I was to DH & DSis for all the hard graft laying the base? Well, today, over a week later, DH decided to look at the instructions for laying the True Pave - drum roll please........................ yes you’ve guessed - it was laid upside down. Inwardly I laughed like a drain :rotfl: but of course outwardly I was the respectful wife :rotfl: is it just a man thing or just a DH thing not to read instructions :rotfl:
Fortunately the shed is not being delivered for almost two weeks, so today the True Pave was taken up, all the gravel was swept into a heap & then he & DSis relaid the True Pave. Refilled with the gravel of which, another drum roll please ................ there was not enough :rotfl: So off they went to buy four more sacks of gravel :D with me giving them a shopping list for my Brexit Cupboard :rotfl: Meanwhile I went to the Post Office on the bus BUT did walk back through the park & joy of joys discovered there is a Farmers Market on Saturday

Where art thou, basketcase & retiredinfrance ?

My decluttering mojo is still AWOL but I did do 2 loads of washing, drying, folding & putting away :D

    So just my three mantras - aired & made bed, washed up, dried up & put away as I went along including the last lot of washing up; washed down kitchen work surfaces; recycling wheelie bin put out for collection; new bin bag in wheelie bin; visit to P.O.; garden watered; birdies & squirrels water bowls refilled & wormery towel doused; toilet flush handle tightened; more personal paperwork shredded; general tidying;

The day to day decluttering has generated

    B1852 - B1853 Non recyclable - 2 x plastic tray & packaging binned
B1854 - B1860 Two tin cans, plastic milk carton, plastic bottle, 2 x glass bottles, uu laundry bottle - ALL rinsed & recycled
B1861 - B1864 One newspaper, 2 lots of cardboard packaging, plastic packaging - Recycled

Limited opportunity to declutter as away but want to keep going in small ways as it will mean less to take home.

Not really decluttering but definitely sorting out.
Picked up some really cheap sale items for a charity I support for their summer tombolas so items into the house.
But my mum has some of DD and DN beanies/cuddlies from when they were younger just stored at the back of her cupboard which she has been wanting to shift. So slowly some of the beanies have been coming over to my house and along with the sale items were boxed up today ready to send to the charity tomorrow.
So I can claim a quick turn around and some decluttering at my mum's:T!.....plus

*11 some new label tags were used on the beanies being sent so slowly getting rid of these.

I am also making a conscious effort of when I go upstairs to take washing and items that need to come upstairs with me and then put them away:)!

bitbybit I have loads of extended family and friends to buy for-have tried to stop this but no one was having any of it so lots of small gifts.DD now older prefers lots of small useful gifts Im very lucky with getting a good bargain as I set a budget, my aim is to not go a penny over and with my lists I've got structure:).
I also keep my receipts and log my daily spending otherwise it goes out of control:eek:: and is useful to compare the months. Have been working on my July month end so can claim

*12 last month's receipts thrown away
*13 item that has been looking at me has finally been returned to b@@ts:j

Getting there slowly, feel more organised already although it's early days. Looking forward to sending DN birthday presents next week as thats 5 small gifts out of the house:D

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I love it! I think it's predominantly a man thing. That said, a friend once told me that his mother rang him for to come round because she couldn't get her new washing machine towork. When he asked where the manual was, she said "What? That silly book? I threw it in the bin." So maybe not...

Hi all :hello: and well done on the totals :T

Been MiA recently. RL has been interesting and time-consuming, but not in a bad way.

Some decluttering done and maintenance is happening. That's about it. I'm off to bed for a very early night as I'm feeling ridiculously tired, so I'll update totals etc tomorrow.

Mrs SD - I think your decluttering mojo was last seen in the company of mine. They were heading to the airport, each towing a suspiciously large suitcase... :D

BTW, what's in your Brexit cupboard?
A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

villagelife, I like it that you think ahead :D

Today was an even hotter & sunnier day than yesterday with not a cloud and a very occasional breeze. Window cleaner turned up today & I have booked him to clean the gutters early next month - so another job off the list :T

DSis & I went into town - bank & butchers for me & DSis managing to get both a hearing test & an eye test without having to book sometime in the future :T

Where art thou, basketcase & retiredinfrance ?

My decluttering mojo is still AWOL but I forgive myself as we were out of the house all afternoon :rotfl:

    So just my three mantras - aired & made bed, washed up, dried up & put away as I went along including the last lot of washing up; washed down kitchen work surfaces; garden watered; birdies & squirrels water bowls refilled & wormery towel doused; darned a pair of DH’s socks & did repairs on 3 pairs of my knickers :D; general tidying;

The day to day decluttering has generated

  • Welcome back basketcase :T Glad RL has been interesting & time consuming rather than stressful or bad :D

What a lovely picture you painted :rotfl: were they holding hands & giggling :rotfl: I am picturing them visiting retiredinfrance :rotfl:

Re the Brexit Cupboard, I am currently reading the ‘Prepping for Brexit’ thread. Normally I am not a prepper but there seems to be a concensus (government included) that there may be a supply issue for a while after Brexit. So rather than panic buying or having to pay higher prices should it all go Titus up :rotfl: I am trying to stock up on foodstuffs we normally eat. So have made a list of things like teabags, coffee, tins of vegetables, pasta, oats, flour (so I can make my own bread/cakes/biscuits), sugar, tins of baked/kidney/butter beans, UHT milk, tins & jars of tomato products etc. All things we usually eat/drink so if there are no problems there will be a couple of months of cheap sm trips. Also intending to stock up on otc medicines, toilet roll :rotfl: & washing products. My problem is that with my decluttering mojo holidaying with yours:rotfl: I am running out of storage  However just buying a couple of extra items on each shopping trip means that there is no huge upfront expense. Have also now almost filled both freezers but need to get in some fish (I make a really nice fish pie :D)
Not sure yet whether or not I will be getting a camping stove & torches :rotfl: & a supply of water :rotfl: but I am hoping the PTB see sense & that there will be minimal disruption.

Well that’s it for me - but I am still chuckling about the ‘holidaying mojos’ :rotfl: :rotfl:

    From a smiley MrsSD
