I'm on a roll, I've started decluttering my hallway today and managed to get rid of 28 items ranging from old candy canes and sweet to a broken wicker basket and loads more in between. I also gave a brand new kids colouring book and a light up santa wand (don't ask - I don't have a clue why I had it either!) to my next door neighbour for my little godson x
Nowhere near finished my hall yet but I've had to stop for today as the kids are starving and need their dinner!
So my total now stands at:-
Decluttered 128/334 :j
Decorating fund from selling decluttered items £13Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)
3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE DONE & PUT AWAY WITHIN AN HOUR OF FINISHING DINNER
Welcome to our merry band of declutterers and :T Well done craftingmad :T - a great start & I am sure one of our more technically minded posters will start a 2019 decluttering thread
I have been rather remiss in posting on any threadapart from a new one called ‘Let’s Get Motivated’ - you list the tasks you want to complete on a specific day, then report back on your successes or lack thereof :rotfl: Minimal decluttering apart from the day to day stuff since Wednesday but have been cleaning (incl. scrubbing cloakroom sink & loo + kitchen sinks & drainer) & tidying, making soup, washing bed linen, composting DSis’s birthday flowers, filling squirrel feeder, feeding our friendly neighbourhood fox, sorting paperwork & today I re-brined the olives from my tree :T
Currently on my own as DH guided DSis back to the old French property. He is returning on Friday on the motorbike but DSis is staying for a while (with family friends) - visiting her son & other family friends. She will be leaving the car & returning by plane. Surprising how tidy the house stays when there is just me :rotfl:
Re my three mantras Wednesday to Sunday: aired & made bed; washed up as per 3. above; filled sugar bowl + coffee, teabags & sugar jars; toilet handle tightened; mattress rotated; shredding; worktops washed down; general tidying
Numbers as follows:
C1779 - C1801 Non recyclable - 10 plastic bags, 2 lots of plastic packaging, 2 plastic trays & packaging, 4 plastic pots & lids, broken coat hanger, uu sponge scourer, 2 lots of plastic netting, rubber glove - binned
C1802 - C1826 Five lots of cardboard packaging, 5 newspapers, 3 cardboard boxes dismantled, 3 sets of leaflets, 6 magazines read, 2 torn paper bags, bag of recycling from DH - recycled
C1827 - C1838 Five drinks cans, 3 milk cartons, 2 Food tins & lids, glass wine bottle, glass bottle - rinsed & recycled

Keep up the good work my fellow declutterers :T

Good morning fellow declutterers,
A quick check in from me today as I really must get to work (I'm self employed so can pick my hours but have a stack of orders I have to get made and posted today).
I'm continuing with my hallway and can declare a further 30 items towards my decluttered total. These include old wrapping paper pieces (from god knows how many years ago), a Benidorm keyring (I've never even been) and out of date chocolate eggs (breaks my heart but BB Jan 2014 so I thought I better not chance eating them!).
I've also listed a Christmas stocking and calendar (both enormous so would cost a fortune to fill!), silicone cake moulds and a kids first football set on facebook selling pages so hopefully I may be able to add bit more to the decorating fund soon too.
So my current totals stand at:-
Decluttered items 158/334 :j

Congratulations on keeping up the momentum craftingmad :T
Today I woke up feeling grotty but a large mug of tea, getting fully dressed & the sun coming out after the rain was enough to get me out the doorI dropped off the 2 bags of food & clothing donations at Whitechapel Mission, posted my letters then went into Lewisham to M&S - no joy on what I wanted but managed to get a pair of boots & a Gift Card for my DSis for Christmas. Unfortunately I was out for far longer than intended so the ‘Let’s Get Motivated’ list for today. So today I have cleaned the fridge, filled the squirrel feeder, fed our friendly neighbourhood fox, turned the cushions on both sofas, wrapped DSis’s Christmas present
Re my 3 mantras: bed aired & made; sugar bowl refilled; washing up done; bathroom loo scrubbed; general tidying

Hi All,
Not been in for a wee while. This kitchen building lark is taking ages but I feel we are getting there. Some units are actually up on the wall and I have new painted glasses after decorating the space last weekend.
I would like to report 10 bags of stuff to the CS over two days and I have more to go. The stuff was all given to me for the CS by people I know. 4 were bags of DVD's and 6 clothing. I did myself a favour and sorted all the clothes so when I got to the CS on Sunday I could just put them in the right place. I took exactly three out of the 100 plus DVDs to watch, and once watched they will also go. They are all gift aided. I am not really counting any of these bags as they came and went within a few weeks and none of it was mine.
In other news I have also bought a bag of Kath Kidston fabric for projects, a Simon Says electronic toy ( I always wanted one of them), a tripod for my daughters camera and a family of Peppa Pigs. The PPs have been washed, await repair and will be returned along with a soft toy Disney princes which I cleaned.
So all good here. I hope to be able to use the units soon but am away for a week from Saturday so will leave it to my husband to decide what to throw and what to keep.
I will go with it and keep my mouth shut when I come home and he has thrown or donated all the stuff I would have kept. Aaah, Tough Love
Right, off to bed as very tired, and hope to be popping back to catch up with more tales of decluttering in a few weeks time.

I've been bit lax lately and some things I've not recorded. Plus I've de-cluttered a lot lately and there is less and less to be done.
However, I am determined to reach my 2018 target of 2018 items

Hi everyone (me again -sorry!)
Just a quick post to update my progress from today.
Another 27 items have left the house today including some leaflets, old schoolwork (which I scanned into my computer as the original was very tatty) and also a jewellery display stand and first football, set which I managed to sell via facebook selling pages
I also put 5 colour changing lights in my garden which had been sitting in my hallway for ages and they look beautiful tonight
So my current totals stand at:-
