2018 - No Clutter To Be Seen
Options
Comments
-
1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)
3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE DONE & PUT AWAY WITHIN AN HOUR OF FINISHING DINNER
Olliebeak, didn’t use the takeaway boxes :rotfl: persuaded DH to buy me 1.5 Litre Kilner Jars :T when he went to sm on Sunday. The olives are now slit & pickled in medium strength brine in one 1.5 Litre Kilner jar & stored in shed. Next week need to drain, replace with strong brine & store for 2 months before I can taste test
Rosiemurphy, I am impressed - clearing out the loft :T However, a dream of mine has been to move into a house with ‘treasures’ in the loft :rotfl:
Happy Kitties, cannot lay claim to the mantras other than repeating them :rotfl: Even if I only pick up a bit of litter from a room it always makes me feel better :rotfl: - Well done on the reorganising & tidying a room - it is a form of decluttering :T
Wanna Bee Free, well done on the decluttering :T Are the bookshelves in their final position? I also appreciate minimalist furniture in a room - the smallest room can actually look a decent size with just a couple of bits of furniture & only a couple of pictures/photos on walls & a strategically placed mirror :rotfl:
IrishRose, WOW :T it made me tired just reading about how much you have done :rotfl: I wondered where all my decluttering mojo had gone :rotfl: May I have it back - please :rotfl: It sounds like you have the bit between your teeth :T & have become a decluttering & decorating demon :rotfl:
somerandom, slow & steady wins the race :T I think IrishRose must have ‘borrowed’ your decluttering mojo as well :rotfl:
Saver-upper, excellent numbers :T
The last 3 days have been mainly dry & bright but getting progressively colder
DH has been busy in the back garden - has hoed & composted under the hedge & laid the ground cover as well as planting some ancient bulbs :rotfl: The only job left in the back garden is sifting the pile of soil dug up when laying the shed base.
Saturday night’s dinner was pork chops, boiled potatoes & roasted veg; Sunday Bolognese sauce with Rigatoni pasta; Monday Bolognese sauce with spaghetti - nothing thrown awayThe only leftovers in the fridge were heated up & a fried egg added & DH had for lunch on Monday.
I did one load of washing Monday, tumble dried; folded & put away.
Re my three mantras over the last 3 days: aired & made bed x 3; washed up frequently; filled sugar bowl; worktops washed down frequently; filled teabags & coffee jars; decanted pasta shapes & 3 kg salt into Kilner jars; paperwork & shredding; general tidying
Numbers as follows:
C1564 - C1587 Non recyclable - 4 empty plastic compost bags, 3 plastic trays & packaging, 2 plastic trays, 8 plastic bags, 5 lots of plastic packaging, plastic garden pot, uu sponge scourer - binned
C1588 - C1605 Four sets of Leaflets, 4 lots of cardboard packaging, magazine, 3 lots of Paper packaging, 2 toilet roll tubes, 4 booklets - recycled
C1606 - C1612 Four Milk cartons, 3 tin cans - rinsed & recycled
Keep up the good work my fellow declutterers :T

Determined to drop some items off at the charity shop today
*355-357 Halloween stuff, a bit late but did tell man in the CS that they were in there. Poster on here
gave me the idea and I remembered I had stuff that was just stored and of no use
*358 Round childrens case taken out of DD room
*359 school jumper DD only wore once
*360 storage jar
*361 specialised Christmas card I bought for DN for Christmas that turned out unsuitable. Was still
in packaging
*362 prom dress of DN that was only worn for a couple of hours. My DB paid £240 for it from a
wedding shop. I remember the whole family saying how bonkers he was and it was
stupid money to spend, it then got dumped at mine (5 years ago), they didn't want it, DD didn't
use it so after
discussions with DM it was decided that it would be better someone else getting benefit from
it rather than being stuck in my airing cupboard. Could of ebayed it but eBay is flooded with
dresses especially from China now and when I sold a bridesmaid dress it was such a hassle.
Felt rather chuffed wheeling into the CS esp as they have put out a request for more stock.
I am slowly sorting out another parcel of items for another charity that does the tombolas and is always asking for cuddly toys. Ideal as still have more DD cuddly toys to sort. She also has some clothes in her room I ironed 18 months ago,not touched not put away so obviously not needed. They will be going to recycling but will ask her first just in case there is that one thing in there she lovesDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You can have your mojo back after tonight :rotfl: We've just got another one of those labels round the doors for a collection on Thursday, so I'm about to have another run through of the rooms from top to bottom to see what else can go out with the remainder of the bags I have lol.
I have just de-cluttered another few items off to the Post Office and made a few pounds, to go towards my credit card too:T
So if it's Ok to hold on to your mojo for another couple of hours, I promise it'll be back for 10pm tonight :rotfl:Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

IrishRose, I am so impressed :T:D I lurve to read success stories - you are a shining example to declutterers& as such you may keep my decluttering mojo until midnight 31st October :rotfl:
May I ask if there was a particular reason for your blitz? Or did you just wake up one morning & decide enough was enough?
Again well done on all your hard work :T

Thank you for your kind words MrsSD. I've a lump in my t hroat lol.
Honest answer to your question?? We go on holiday self catering for 2 weeks every July and I always realise when I go away that all I need is what's in my suitcase. I can quite happily live in a 1 bedroom self catering apartment with just the basics and relax and be at peace.
I don't need numerous clothes, underwear etc when I usually rewash the same ones and wear them again, in the mornings when waking up a simple handwash of underwear, socks etc is all that was needed and by evening they were dry.
I didn't need all the paperwork, mementos, ornaments and numerous other things lying around the house like CD's, DVD's, the "just in case" items etc. I done without them for 2 weeks and didn't miss them.
When we came home I decided I had to change it instead of thinking about it every year.
Getting the rooms redecorated also helped, they haven't been done in about 10 years:o but once they were emptied - especially the spare room and my own bedroom, I realised while waiting ages to get everything done I didn't need anything that was in any of the bags in the month or so, so I clearly don't need them now.
I will be honest though, this thread and the 30 bags in 30 days challenge I found on Youtube has helped me and given me the determination to carry on. Only instead of 30 bags in 30 days I just do it every day now. I lift a bag and walk around the house with it. Some days it's full, some days there's only one item in it, but it's better than nothing IMO.
I'm also selling whatever I can to try and bring my credit card bill down. Every year I join the Debt Free wannabe thread, and every year I never achieve my goal. I'll not achieve it this year either thanks to the boiler breaking on me, but I am determined to be debt free by this time next year. So anything I can sell will be sold, and anything that can't will be put out.
I've another 2 black bags ready to be put out the door tonight, and I'll do another walk around tomorrow again.
So I'll take you up on your offer of keeping the mojo till tomorrow as have a load of Disney ornaments to list on Ebay tomorrow :rotfl:Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

Of course you can Mrs SD. Take whatever you need lol. I literally just get a bag, and wander around the rooms and fill it with bits and pieces. I don't think about what I'm doing, as if I ask myself will I need it I'll say yes, so when the notion's on me I just go with it. It definitely helps me.
The charity people didn't come round for the bags this morning:mad: and have just checked their labels and they say they won't come back for missed bags, so I'll get a taxi tomorrow and drop them off to the charity shop instead.
Have a bag of recycling to go through to remove any details there may be, before I put them in the recycling bin. Will do that in a bit.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

Hello fellow declutterers
Well done everyone on all your efforts of decluttering lately. Although I have not been posting I have tried to keep up to date with everyone's posts to see how well you have all being doing.
I haven't posted since end of Sept  but I'm back now although still not fully recovered from a dreadful virus that literately knocked me for six. Every now and again I had a little energy so sat a found some bits and bobs in drawers/cupboards etc. to go out the door, have a fair bit to list today so will just give my total collected if that's ok with everyone. Honestly too tired still to list all the stuff one by one this time round.
Most going to local hospice charity shop which is great and some items recycled and just a few items gone in the bin.
My local hospice charity email me twice a year to tell me the amount raised from the goods we have donated, so they can claim Gift Aid on all of our donation sales. This time round the total was £196.50, which we are very pleased with. With the Gift Aid they then get 25% extra on top of the £196.50 :j
Total collected and going or already gone out the door 168 items
953 + 168 = 1121
