It was bright and sunny here & I had a free day so finally I was motivated to do some "proper" decluttering. Spent a lot of time in the garden dealing with brambles & storage. Then a bit of time in loft & bedroom swapping over the final summer / winter clothes. It feels like a productive day - feel really quite physically tired as the garden really did involve manual labour ! :T

131-3 - dead stuff from garden shed (which is also dead )
    134-5 - cupboard doors
145-6 - electrical pump & charger for sander that I no longer have
    147- - clothes horse - dead
    148 - boots - CS
    149 - shoebox - recycling
    150 - suit cover - CS
    151-2 - 2 x dead storage bags
    153 - suitcase - friend
154&5 - halloween stuff to CS

Marmiterules, you do know that you are allowed day/s off :rotfl: You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty - so you can stop that right now :naughty:

somerandom, well done on the garden & house decluttering :T

Yesterday, DSis had a blood test @ 09:30 a.m. & the practice nurse took the opportunity to give her a flu jab :D DSis was not best pleased :D Today she basically did nothing apart from keep me & DH in cups of coffee :T

Last night the 3 of us came up with a list (a rather long list :D) of garden jobs. DH & I started on the list today :T
DH continued drilling out the tree stump in the front garden - it is almost large enough to take the large terracotta garden pot :T Then he dug up 2 bushes - one he replanted against the back garden wall, the other is ready for the pot out front. He has also dismantled the garden bench, filled a couple of cracks in the wood & is in the process of sanding & oiling prior to storage? I was busy out front - got all the weeds & grass out from between the paving slabs & cleared the edge of the drive - we now have an extra 3 inches of driveway :rotfl: plus I cleared the weeds between our hedge & the road. I also did some pruning in the back garden. Everything is neat & tidy both front & back as I cleared up as I went along :rotfl:
Have made a list of jobs to tackle tomorrow, but there are soooo many that it will probably take all next week to complete them :rotfl: We are both trying not to do too much on any one day, so that we can work every day :rotfl: We have FINALLY learnt that going at tasks like a bull in a china shop is not conducive to completing tasks :rotfl:
Of course this means that the indoor decluttering is on hold :D

DH & I finished off our curries, DSis had lamb & chips in gravy. She has decided to finish her Chinese takeaway tomorrow :)

Re my three mantras: aired & made bed; DSis washed up; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl; general tidying

A gloriously sunny warm day but no breeze - still managed 2 loads of washing - one load practically dried on whirligig so just needed 15 minutes in td to finish off - now folded & put away :T The 2nd load is still wet & waiting to go in td as DSis decided to do her washing which didn’t dry on the whirligig :( so her clothes are hogging the td :(
DSis is finishing her Chinese takeaway tonight & DH & I had egg sandwiches.

After DH watched his motorcycle races, he joined me in the garden. Quite a few of the tasks crossed off the list :T & now I will bore you with the details :rotfl:

I relocated the bricks to one place (rather than scattered all over the garden :rotfl:) plus I moved the wood from the decking balustradesto a new location. DH & DSis finally put the decorative gravel round the shed :T; DH then took down & packed away the sun umbrella; relocated the bags of compost, topsoil etc - they are now stacked up either side of the raised (i.e. table) garden bed; strimmed the back quarter of the garden; moved the pot containing the tree/bush to a new location; dismantled the wooden compost bin (as it never worked:o); relocated the rotating compost bin to the space created; cleared a space near the olive tree & relocated the wormery. I really did keep him busy :rotfl:
I tidied up a small area of the garden getting rid of non compostable detritus & I finally :o washed all my garden pots, seed trays etc in diluted disinfectant. They are now dried & packed away neatly in my shed :D
Weather permitting - tomorrow DH & I will continue with ‘the list’

Ashamed to say I still haven’t cleaned the fridge :o but tomorrow I need to do a small shop so will ‘try’ to do tomorrow ;)

Re my three mantras: aired & made bed; washed up; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl; general tidying

    Numbers as follows:

C1409 - C1420 Non recyclable - plastic pot & lid, small bag of garden detritus, 3 lots of plastic packaging, 5 empty plastic gravel bags, plastic bag, greasy tin foil - binned

  • Not done much the last week or so, though I did tidy up a bit yesterday. Must start in on the kitchen. I've got a small shelving unit which in undoubtedly full of rubbish that I now longer need.

And the loft, oh the loft....
  • *345-348 link to hope boxes x3 given to DD to deliver for me.......bedroom looks much tidier just getting
    rid of these
    *349 birthday present sent
*350-351 Christmas presentsx2 sent with birthday present. I have tried everything to stop sending so
many Christmas presents but some family and friends are so resistant so I thought if I have
to get them they are going now to avoid clutter
    *352 packaging for the above

2 food bags given to starving student DD. Even though the living room looks less of a dumping ground they are not going to be counted in my totals as they were bought in to be handed to starving student when I saw her. Classing this as a neutral declutter :)

*353 sample bathroom tile ( bathroom has been in a year) that has been living in the kitchen-now in bin

I will hit 500 before Christmas:)

Cherryblossomzel, tidying is a major form of decluttering :D

Happy Kitties, well done on keeping stuff moving out :T & yes you will hit your target :D

Another gloriously sunny Autumn day - so weather did permit :rotfl: so continued with the garden chores list :T Two areas completely cleared of weeds & rubbish, pots relocated & last of the easy pruning done. If the weather stays nice, Tuesday will be another gardening day :D

No longer ashamed :T. Due to a leaking milk carton, the fridge was cleaned :rotfl: & reorganised. The only food casualty was some musty mushrooms which were donated to the wormery :D

It has been over 6 weeks since I have posted on here:eek:.
I wasn't doing alot of decluttering over the holidays, and I did let the state of the house slip a bit, with 4 kids at home, and me still working many days.
So,over the last 2 weeks I have slowly been getting my house back in order.A few areas of it actually look quite minimalist, which I am pleased with.
Out of the house over the last few weeks:

    Donated:
    1253-1290:38 rags for textile recycling
    1291-1294:4pr boy's tracksuit pants
1295:beret,not sure where from, but had been sitting in the bottom of my wash basket for at least a year (!!),so washed and donated
    1296:birthday card,unused hehe
    1297:1pr school trousers

    Recycled:
    1298-12992 pairs boy's shoes
1300-1315:16 plastic spray bottles. As many here know, part of my business is cleaning. Each week I finish a few bottles of spray, and recycle the bottles.Normally I wouldn't count these in my personal decluttering challenge, but most of these bottles I had held onto for a few years, even though they smelt bad,has obviously gone off.I couldn't bring myself to let them go.Kept thinking I could use it for my own house, not customers, etc etc. Then I found the strength, asked myself why I should use gone- off cleaning fluids in my own home?

    Binned:
    1316:old "L" plate
    1317:lead for a toy horse
1318:cheap plastic remote control car,not working
    SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
    Pinecone £301,Valued Opinions £10.50

Nice to see you back Saver-upper :T :j

Another gloriously sunny Autumn day but the only gardening done was putting down a bag of compost :o on one of the cleared areas & DH dismantling & oiling the garden table

DH & DSis went shopping for compost & ground cover. I went food shopping - wasn’t lazy today :rotfl: & walked past the dock to the sm. The lonely swan now has a partner :T The concrete steps are still clear of litter :T just piles of leaves but I still managed to pick up 109 pieces of litter & got a thank you from an older lady - gave me a warm glow :D

Didn’t have to wait long for bus to get home :T. Shopping unpacked & put away before I sat down with a coffee :rotfl:

Dinner was pork medallions in a mushroom Marsala sauce with boiled potatoes & green beans - truly scrumptious & DSis is a fan :D
Have also made a vegetable & Stilton soup with wilting lettuce, sad looking green ‘turning to orange peppers’, cherry tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms, shallot & the last of the Stilton in my fridge. Will be zizzed tomorrow & will make croutons - so that’s lunch sorted :T

Re my three mantras: aired & made bed; washed up; worktops washed down; filled teabags jar; turned all sofa cushions; shredding; general tidying

    Numbers as follows:

C1452 - C1468 Non recyclable - small bag of rubbish from DSis, large bag of rubbish from DH’s office, 9 lots of plastic packaging, empty plastic compost bag, plastic tray & packaging, plastic tray, 3 plastic bags - binned
C1469 - C1478 Leaflets, 6 lots of cardboard packaging, egg carton, magazine, Paper packaging - recycled
C1479 - C1482 Milk carton, tin can, plastic bottle, glass jar & lid - rinsed & recycled

Bit of knitting before bed :D
