  • 1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY

    2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)

    3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE PUT AWAY BEFORE I GO TO BED

marmiterules, villagelife, HappyKitties & retiredinfrance - :T - every item out is a win :T & we are all heading in the right direction :T:D

DH’s mojo is still with him - he has laid & glued down half the flooring in the shed, scarified the front lawn, washed & polished one of his motorbikes and started sanding the table top for my drop down table in the shed.

DSis had a bath :D & is clearing down a few more of her TV programmes :D

I was up at 8:30 (early for me :rotfl:) - had a large mug of tea whilst sitting outdoors (very peaceful as no DH or DSis :rotfl:) - as it wasn’t raining & was quite warm - plus fed the pregnant squirrel who is now brave enough to stay on the decking whilst I am walking about :rotfl: Sudden movements do cause her to practically fly away though :rotfl:
Walked by dock on way to sm - the crested grebes have definitely moved on as there was a baby coot on their nesting raft :D, only 5 Canada Geese, half a dozen mallards & a few seagulls today. However did manage to get a picture of an adult coot sitting on a piece of wood floating in the dock :D
Remembered to post my letters :rotfl: only had them in my coat pocket for 4 days :rotfl: The sm was very quiet so managed to get in & out quite quickly but then had to wait 10 mins for the bus :(
Shopping put away including updating my lists :rotfl:. Phone call to bank to check on status of various cheques that I have paid out. Then baking - DSis had requested Rock Cakes last night - so I made 2 batches. Who knew they were soooo tasty when warm :drool:. Also made a batch of coconut biccies so the biccie tin is now full :T
Dinner was early tonight - Ha*ry B*kers Sausage Casserole with sm crusty bread. DH & I love it  but DSis is not a fan :( although she has discovered she likes Butter Beans :)

Re my three mantras - aired & made bed; filled sugar bowl & jar; refilled flour jar from stocks; built toilet roll pyramids :rotfl:; washing up done as & when (apart from the fruits of my baking labours, you would never have known I had been baking :rotfl:); worktops washed down; filled squirrel feeder; general tidying

The day to day decluttering has generated

    C408 - C414 Non recyclable - 7 plastic bags - Binned
C415 - C419 Three tins & lids, milk carton, small glass bottle - Rinsed & recycled
    C420 - C422 Toilet roll tube, 2 newspapers - Recycled

May your decluttering mojo continue to be strong :rotfl:

Supposed to be taking it easy but I'm bored and I'm getting better so I thought I would just declutter 1 thing......that went wrong as I sorted some of my craft things out and def more than one thing!

*232 craft magazine -had a reread and then in recycling
*233 old craft knife covered in silicon-binned
*234 DD old pen storage thingy-binned
*235 old craft basket that housed bits that was literally falling apart-binned
*236 craft paper bits that I was never going to use but had saved 'just in case' -now in recycling
    *237 birthday cards -recycling

Have also sorted out DN coat from years ago to go in the wash and then it will go to the charity shop along with sewing machine and bits. Have to be realistic, it is a lovely sewing machine to use, I do enjoy sewing but I was given it and haven't used it for at least 3 years so have decided for someone else to get use from it. Going in the CS pile ready for drop off next week

    Decluttering is addictive!!

  • It must be the ultimate irony... I like minimalist decor and generally less 'stuff' and always read up on this thread (albeit under my normal username) to inspire me to continue my decluttering. Now though on asking for feedback on my for sale house I've been told it looks too bare....

The thread if anyone wishes a mooch is on the house buying forum :D

Happy Kitties, well done - but do make sure you do not set your recovery back :D very generous re your sewing machine :T. That is the best type of decluttering :T “I will just get rid of one thing” then finding you want to get rid of more :rotfl:

DH went off on his motorbike Wednesday morning to do his Round Britain Rallying. He is stopping overnight in Cornwall & will be back Thursday night - his reward for working so hard :rotfl:

Brackenfield, it seems purchasers nowadays lack the imagination to work out decorative touches for themselves :rotfl: If you had loads of ‘stuff’ the feedback would have been the place is too cluttered :rotfl: I see a small cs trip in your future :rotfl:

DSis went out for a few hours, did a bit of shopping & bought me a present - a very pretty necklace. I was going to tell her off for wasting her money BUT she bought it in a cs for £1 :T and it is very, very pretty :D

Prior to going out DSis had emptied her purse & bag of receipts. I sorted them out, then decided to sort out the correspondence she has received since living with us. I then sorted out a small corner of the dining room - restacking boxes - so DH has access to the telephone socket to sort out the super duper broadband :rotfl: which led to sorting out more of DSis’s paperwork :rotfl: Got rid of some envelopes & out of date leaflets which I recycled + some shredding.

Re my three mantras - aired & made bed; filled sugar bowl, coffee & teabag jars; washing up done as & when; worktops washed down; general tidying

The day to day decluttering has generated

C423 - C424 Non recyclable - plastic bag, small stack of shredding - Binned
    C425 - C427 Tin, milk carton, plastic bottle - Rinsed & recycled
C428 - C433 Two newspapers, 2 lots of cardboard packaging, tin foil, small stack of envelopes & leaflets - Recycled

May your decluttering mojo continue to be strong :rotfl:

It's awful now I am feeling better I want to do more but I can't that is why I decided to declutter one item a day which has gone slightly wrong as once I get started i want to do more. But my body did let me know when it couldn't do anymore yesterday not before

*238 an information pack on insurance I had nearly 7 years ago -recycled (couldn't believe I'm finding
    stuff like this:eek:)

*239 I have a very pretty Molton brown box that I was going to take the last couple of bottles out of
and recycle the box. I had a new set of smaller Molton brown bottles which are now out of
packaging and placed into the box. Really didn't want to get rid of the box but if I didn't have a use
for it, it was going to go but now I do and freed up some space in the process

Brankenfield I thought minimalist was In? My friend hates clutter or ornaments (says more dusting) and loves the minimalist life. When i decorated the back bedroom we really did gut it. It looks minimalist and I love it, have had lots of compliments on it when friends have stayed........just wish I could say the same for the rest of the house:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ladies, here is the whole decluttered house if you want a look x
  • I think it's beautiful, clean, spacious, light..
Besides, isn't it said that being uncluttered is supposed to give prospective buyers the space to imagine themselves living there?
Pfft, sometimes you simply cannot win..
Personally I really like it :)

Brackenfield, it is beautiful - clean lines, no clutter or fripperies :rotfl:

Happy Kitties, I am so pleased you managed to keep your Molton brown box :D especially without guilt ;)

DH enjoyed his motorbiking - 40 seconds of rain :T, nice pre-booked room, 3 course meal last night, got pictures of all the landmarks he had planned & got home before 9:00 p.m. tonight

DSis swept the decking of monkey nut shells three times today :rotfl: two squirrels have been eating for England :rotfl: obviously trying to fatten themselves up for the colder weather :rotfl:, she also filled the bird feeders & went shopping for her dinner at 8:30 p.m.

I was quite busy today - I decluttered water, fluff & dirt :rotfl: The water was from the wm trap - over a pint , cleaned the trap out with disinfectant as well as washing the plug. Also defluffed the td filter. The dirt was from the soffits, fascias and garage door - I washed them all down & everything looks like it is newly painted :rotfl: It was one of those jobs that was on my ‘To Do’ list but I just never quite got around to it. I am now feeling very chuffed :rotfl: I also scarified the front lawn, emptied out & sorted my 3 First Aid kits plus emptied & sorted my 2 holiday wash bags. Also finished writing & addressing available October & November birthday cards :rotfl:

Re my three mantras - aired & made bed; filled sugar bowl; washing up done as & when; worktops washed down; new bin bag in wheelie bin with the last of the cat litter I have been using to absorb smells:D;. general tidying

The day to day decluttering has generated

C434 - C435 Non recyclable - empty cat litter bag, plastic lid - Binned
C436 - C439 Two tin cans, milk carton, plastic bottle - Rinsed & recycled
    C440 - C442 Two newspapers, paper packaging - Recycled

May your decluttering mojo continue to be strong :rotfl:

  • I've gone through my DVDs and out of over 500,there's about 50 I'm going to keep.
I'm moving home from abroad next year which is why I'm so keen to declutter.
Someone from a charity is coming round to look at the other DVDs.Also to look at my books.

I've decide I can take one box of DVDs and one box of books....
  • Up to 900 items now - the last load out was mainly out of date medicine to the chemists for them to deal with and a load of plastic bags to recycling.
