2018 - No Clutter To Be Seen

Morning ladies (and gents?)
I know i'm very late to join but i hope to see what i can do in 2018. I live in a 2 bed house with my OH and 2 cats. Not big spenders but we've been here 8 years and have accumulated a fair bit of toot. I'm pretty good at throwing out stuff but i'm going to really make and effort.
1. Bluetooth speaker (broken)
2. Popup wardrobe
3. Toaster (was given to us ages ago but we don't eat bread! If we suddenly feel the urge we can grill it)
4. Gear shift for my OHs car (broken, replacement has been fitted, dead one been hanging around in garden!)
I'm going to do a cs run today as well so that should get rid of a few more bits. Had a good wardrobe clear out the other day and got rid of a huge bag of clothes, feels great!0 -
Some more:
5. Lampshade (bin)
6-11. Unwanted gifts from xmas (family like to buy decorative stuff for the house even though we ask them not to!) CS
12. Foam roller CS
13-16. Xmas present cups (why people think we need cups when we've owned a house 8 years is beyond me haha!) CS
17 & 18. Tins of cat food. Mine don't have that brand, no idea how i ended up with them but they're going to a charity.
19. Flip flops i never wear CS
Oops this is a bit addictive!0 -
:hello: and welcome grn.w.nv - a great start & I do love the word ‘toot’ :rotfl: The more the merrier but only declutterers not clutter :rotfl:
Looking forward to reading your progress

1. IF I NOTICE SOME SMALL TASK NEEDS DOING - I WILL DO IT IMMEDIATELY
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)
3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE PUT AWAY BEFORE I GO TO BED
marmiterulesok, that is a spectacular decision :T Keeping 10% but more importantly getting rid of 90% :T & only keeping one box of books - I admire your determination :T
Chocolatedrinker, excellent total :T
grn.w.nv, it is addictive :rotfl: There are various methods of decluttering - Marie Kondo being one of the more popular ones. I adopted her clothes folding methods but her way of decluttering was a bit too extreme & chaotic/messy :rotfl: plus not convinced about ‘loving’ a cheese grater :rotfl:
DH laid the other half of the shed flooring - now he just has to do a little bit of finishing on the floor. Tomorrow he will put together the shelving unit & affix to the shed wall & do a bit more work on the drop down table + put up the garden tool rack. He also filled all the bird feeders & ordered some more monkey nuts for the squirrels:rotfl:
DSis just pottered today + did the last washing up of the day :T
I was not so busy today - walked to P.O. as I just missed the bus :rotfl: - did a bit of litter collecting - 30 items put in bins - posted documents to my DB in Germany + a couple of pre written birthday cards. Then bus to sm - not too busy :T & I stuck to my list :rotfl: Walk to the bus stop only to remember that I had forgotten to buy a Sympathy Card(which was not on my list as I had expected to remember :eek:) - bought the card & walked back to bus stop & was about to miss the bus but a kindly bus driver held the bus for me :T otherwise at least a 10 minute wait. Home & unpacked & put away all groceries. Then changed into gardening clothes & painted a couple of wooden shelves for the shed & was going to put a bit of wood preserver on the additional struts of the table top garden bed but the can was rusty & leaking :eek:
Made dinner - fish, chips & peas.
Re my three mantras - aired & made bed; filled sugar bowl; put away the last washing up of the day; worktops washed down; sewed button on my trousers (whilst wearing them :rotfl:); general tidying
The day to day & garden decluttering has generated
C443 - C445 Non recyclable - plastic tray & packaging, 2 plastic bags - Binned
C446 - C448 Tin can, two milk cartons - Rinsed & recycled
C449 - C459 Two newspapers, three magazines, 2 lots of cardboard packaging, plastic tray, 2 toilet roll tubes, delivery box dismantled - Recycled
C460 - C465 Rusty tin & contents double bagged, empty glue can, old paintbrush & pair of gloves for Tip
May your decluttering mojo continue to be strong :rotfl:

Thanks!
I'm not moving until at least March of next year but need to get organised so might as well start now.
I've got some books and dvds in my cellar space that I must bring up today and sort through.0 -
Quick catch-up, good to see all the progress.
I've found a cache of felt-tips which I had removed from two of my nieces (for fighting over them) The girls are now graduates, and into very expensive pens to make pretty bullet journals. Stopped myself from testing the pens. Also getting rid of the lovely sturdy packaging and paperwork for a camera which has itself long since departed. Still more to clear tonight from this same chest of drawers.
Plans for September - get rid of one bookshelf, and one other item of furniture. I want to clear out the things that will fit into the car easily myself.
I'm mainly e-reading now, remaining paperbacks and the DVDs can go too. I've had my current television for about three years, and never used the DVD slot, so I won't miss them
Had some fun chatting with friends about this yesterday. One has a hoarding husband, but he is extremely tidy and organised, so it does balance out to some extent.
Have a lovely weekend everyone0 -
Afternoon All
Not posted for ages, good to see the amount of clutter reducing in so many posters' homes! I am still a declutterbug, it's a constant battle, although largely clear and tidy really. Having said that, there are a few little piles of unnecessary stuff accumulating, so I'm going to nip around with a carrier bag (always in short supply here since the 5p charge), see if I can fill it, then walk to the park across the road and deposit it in the British Heart Foundation collection point there. I'll report back on what was ousted...

Well the guy from the charity has been round and has gone off with approx. 350 DVDs.He's coming back for more and also for books (which I must sort out).
Also a friend came round and took 5 plant pots,two plants,one book and two jars of marmelade.
Feeling very pleased.0 -

They've all been brought up and sorted through:ready to go out.:D0 -
Gone:
3 x GCSE revision books;
5 x children's audio book CDs;
4 x dresses;
1 x blouse;
1 x t-shirt.
It all helps. I think that collection point is intended for the local student population, but it's very useful to me!
I ought to sort the household paperwork that's breeding on the side in the kitchen, I suppose, while I'm on a roll.
