Molillie, I quite agree - an initial expense up front is far better than worrying about potential damage - what is that old saying “a stitch in time saves nine”
Re the sleepsuits - nothing to be annoyed aboutI think we have all done the out of sight out of mind thing :rotfl: I know I have cupboards, drawers, boxes etc full of stuff that need sorting but I needed to see quick results
I know myself well enough to know that I can get disheartened quite easily
so I am definitely in agreement that this forum helps :T Hopefully you will find some lovely surprises - an old purse with a few ‘notes’ in or a photo album full of happy memories :rotfl:
You can stay positive because you have a well thought out plan and a goal in sight which I believe is half the work done
IrishRose, if that is you with no decluttering mojo then I am in awe :T Tempus fugit - my DSis has been living with us for exactly 3 months tomorrowI reckon that if you sat down & worked out what you have done this year you would be pleasantly surprised
tboo, ticking all ng nicely :T
Rained this morning & then has been very overcast all day, but the rain has held off so 2 wm loads done = 4 duvets which are now on the whirligig :T and now the dark clouds have gone, there is blue sky & a slightly chilly breeze.
DH has moved the last of DSis’ stuff (apart from the grandmother clock case) out of the garage & hasbeen pooling about doing odd jobs whilst we waited for the CS collection. He has just had a bath as we out for a pub meal tonight - :T no cooking :T
DSis’s mojo returned today - she has finished putting the wood preservative on the fence panels & also treated the pieces that have been put together for my tabletop raised bed. She is now in the bath.
Mostly pottered again today - no hard work for me :rotfl: Annoying thing this morning - our recycling bin has gone walkabout  So phone call to council & should have a new Recycling wheelie bin in 5 working days - fingers crossed BUT on a better note .... drum roll please ............. the CS van turned up :T:T:T:j:j:j I am sooo happy as the only things they didn’t have room for were the 4 large terracotta garden pots & the 2 terracotta trays :T:T
Very light on my three mantras today - aired & made bed; washed up, dried up & put away as I went along; washed down kitchen work surfaces; filled sugar bowl, tea bag & coffee jars; vacuumed the spare room & upstairs landing; general tidying;
The CS collection and day to day decluttering have generated
C265 - C341 ALL to CS - single divan bed, mattress, headboard, single wardrobe, bedside cabinet, orthopaedic chair, rigid lockable suitcase, 5 wooden garden chairs, bag of seeds/bulbs, the reel for a garden hose, a very large rug/carpet (from France), 62 plastic garden pots, seed trays etc plus 2 chairs from neighbour which I won’t count :rotfl:
As I am being chivied to go out - I will post the rest when we get back :rotfl:
May your decluttering mojo be strong :rotfl:

Hi all,
I have been a bit busy over the last few days. the builder brought forward the work by two weeks. We are in a right old mess, luckily better than it could have been as I had planned where everything was going to go, mostly.
Several bags of books have gone to the CS and work (38 /52) and lots of trays to the allotment as well as bits of kitchen unit.
I came back from work today to find the understairs and old downstairs look knocked out.It look great all open plan, almost want it to stay that way except I don't like the noise.
We haven't got the whole kitchen out yet but the contents are gradually being transferred to the diing room.
Mrs Salad Days. Glad your mojo is showing itself and also you are getting Mr Salad Days on board too. Looks like you are getting loads done.
My DH sometimes takes a while to come round to my projects but once on board he is brilliant.
:j Great news that the CS finally came for your stuff.
Happy Kitties: fitting the kitchen was ok when I was in my 20s. I didn't have any fear of it as I had done DIY with my dad and later DH, plus DH aand I met doing conservation work, we are both very practical.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Just back from a very disappointing meal out. DSis had wanted a roast dinner, this morning DH printed off a menu from a specific pub with roast beef & all the trimmings. We arrive & the menu was different. Walked to the next pub - lamb shank roast dinner & they had stopped serving food at 8.00 p.m. in London !!!!!!! Then spotted a restaurant serving roast dinners - :j DSis had roast beef etc, I had chicken Kiev, chips & peas & DH had the mixed grill - kofta, lamb chops etc. Needless to say he was the only one who enjoyed his meal  DSis’s & mine were basically heated up packet meals:( At least it wasn’t massively hard on my purse :rotfl: Had a drink in a pub near the Cutty Sark & went home. The walk home from the station was brightened up by the fox keeping pace with us across the road
Good job I am still sooo happy that the CS van turned up:rotfl::)
Extra stuff to CS (which I forgot )
C342 - C345 Four old duvets for furniture protection to CS
The day to day decluttering has generated
C346 - C348 Non recyclable - large piece of plastic packaging, damaged plastic box, plastic tray & packaging
C349 - C350 Tin, milk carton - Rinsed & recycled
C351 - C354 Two toilet roll tubes, 2 cardboard boxes dismantled - Recycled
C355 Empty Plastic crate repurposed for use in DH’s office
So overall an excellent day - DH has space in the garage and there is now a little extra space in the living room & dining room plus the back garden is not so cluttered :T:T
Now I just have to find my next project :rotfl:
May your decluttering mojo be strong :rotfl:

Life has been so busy these holidays!I havent been doing much declutering, though I sooooooo want to.
I did have a bit of a win today though.Because I have4 kids,I have always kept school uniforms to pass down to the next child (even though I only have 1 boy-I could have passed his uniforms as he grew out of them).A few month ago I sorted them out,and put them in a huge vacuum bag in the loft "to sell one day".
Then, earlier this week,I saw a Fb page advertising a local school uniform sale, and asking for donations.I know, realistically,I am never going to get around to selling them, and I really just wanted them out.Imagine how much space 12 years of 4 children's school uniform take up!!
So,today I finally dragged them out of the loft, and donated. These are nice big numbers to add to the list:
Out of the loft:
96-128:33 skirts
129-144:16 dresses
145-157:13 boy's polo shirts
158-184:27 pr trousers (boy and girls)
185-188:4 blouse
189-197:9 pinafores
198-199:2 more polo shirts
200-201:2 jumpers
202-205:4 pr tights
110 items of school uniform .
I am also counting the vacuum bag that I donated it in (206).
While I am here,I will also list the few items I have decluttered fro m the house over the last couple of weeks (not much):
Binned:
1147: handle of a Bona mop
1148:bike handlebar protector
1149:doll's nappy
1150-1151:2 bits of plastic doll accessories
I also have a large bag of stuff to donate to charity, but will list it when it leaves the house.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
