The split air-con units do not normally need to be "gassed" when fitted unless the two units are far apart, the compressor unit comes filled with gas and if the two parts are fitted within 2 metres you do not even have to vacuum seal the copper pipe when fitted, although many fitting instructions advise this.Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0

You should use any A/C system at least once a week. The Daily Telegraph's motoring guru "Honest John" recommends leaving it on all the time, even if not really using it. (See his AC tip here)
ALL A/C produces water as cooling air will cause moisture to condense out. Warm air can contain much more water than cold air - that's why it rains when warm air cools!Jumbo

So is it ok to have switched on but have the dial set to warm ?0 -

Yes. It is better for the A/C system if it is left on all the time, warm, cold, whatever. It will prolong the life of the system and stop any mould growing there. The downside is that it will use some power - if you're using it only to heat or cool slightly, it will be negligible. It's only on full cool that it saps a lot of power.
It's a case of weighing up cost saved by not using it versus cost of putting it right if you don't use it. Like using the engine to slow the car - you can do it and save on brake wear, but you wear the engine instead. Which is cheaper to replace?Jumbo
