Today I am grateful for a quiet day, for walking to do the shopping with dh, for minimal spends, for comfy shoes, for completing a tough workout, for big sis calling with news about mum - more positive than either of us were anticipating, for the snowdrops contrasting with the dark green, for a neighbour being willing to help me with a task next week, for being alive and well and having enough and being content with my lot.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Hugs KerryWoman. take care of yourself while all this is happening!
Foxholes Have you checked the water pressure? Sometimes this will cause a boiler to "auto off" and need a reset. It should be above 1, but not higher than 1.5 - also NOTHING WRONG WITH VAMPIRE BOOKS...

DH is just about over manflu.
Two NSD's to add to the pot, nearly at the end of the month. This is the most NSDs I've had. Still learning though.
Money to debt and savings seen to.
Donation to charity, done.
Other stuff landed I wasn't expecting, I have been offered a grant for a residential course if I can match fund. IF. I've a meeting about possible paid normal person type work next week. Maths class is going well. Listed more bits on Fleabay. (I'm eternally surprised that there is never an end to "This can go...")
The local press did a feature on YS products... can't find anything anywhere without a full on scrap now.
Took mum to CS furniture sale, as a result she got the seats she wanted and I'll be getting her table.
Have a lovely weekend!Debt Free April 2019:j to July 2019NEW WTC:eek:1,194

Another spend day (really struggling with NSDs at mo). Had a lovely evening with friends, spent £16 on meal out and £4.50 on parking. I also spent £40 vouchers on some new clothes.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Thanks apple. I owe just over £18,000 but this is on a long term loan, paying £200 a month, so as long as I work that into my budget, then I should be fine. My plan would be to go to part time by next September or later if the school can accommodate my request. I do really love my school and the location is ideal for me and the kids are generally great. I just don’t have a good work life balance and would love to be able to have two whole days of no work a week. If I went to 4 days a week then I would get rid of all my luxuries (like having a cleaner) which at the moment I need to try and ensure I have one day of rest a week. I would continue to do extra work in the holidays and my exam marking and will get rid of a few of the extra treats that I have to keep me sane (having the occasion massage etc).
I’ll be giving it some serious consideration and planning over the next few weeks and want to discuss it with my mum properly too.

Morning turtles
Thank you for all the birthday wishes, I spent some of my bday money yesterday ordering some shoes. They're silly and awesome and I may very well look daft in them but I won't care.
Big hugs to you Kerry Woman, take care of yourself xx
Were on 14 NSDs for the month. Both been paid now, it's important that we don't go over budget now as DH may get little to no pay in Feb as he's going into the new job which is paid in arrears and were not sure if they'll pay a partial month to start.
Started my new crochet project, it'll take the best part of the year to do (because I'm slow!) but it'll be worth it to see SILs face at Christmas. If I can do it a bit quicker I will and maybe get another gift made, we'll see.
I've been in an email chain with British gas recently and could do with some advice. We signed up to the free time tariff almost 2 years ago where I thought it was gas and electricity free on Saturdays between 9 and 5pm. I noticed the smart meter go up during that time a few weeks ago and asked them why are they charging me as both tariffs on my account say free time. And I sent a screen shot to prove this to them. They just keep saying rather patronisingly 'allow me to explain this to you' blah blah blah 'we don't have any free gas tariffs'. I've definitely been misled here and don't know how to go forward as I keep getting the same 'explanation' back. I would accept it if it didn't say free time tariff under the gas account on my account home page!!

I would go on smart mode chat thing with them and explain one more time and if I did not get a satisfactory response, then it is official written complaint (on paper) mis- selling a product and changing the terms of your agreement without informing you. AND a copy to the ombudsman. How very dare they!
The numbers on the meter will continue to rise when you are using it, as it measures the flow of gas/electricity you are using , but as far as I understand it, the £ number should not go up as you signed up to free 9-5 on that day - iyswim .
Unless the bill states you used 1234 and then take off all that was used 9-5 as a deduction. You will have to have a look at the bill - or ask on the chat mode.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Collected my new seat covers yesterday and my sofa looks really great now, they are also cutting and wrapping a new piece of seat foam for my living room armchair, it is a fair few years old now and the cover is stretched from use so a new piece will fill it back out. Total £95 spent but much cheaper than new furniture plus I don't get rid of things just because they need some tlc.
Cycled yesterday and hope to again today but the weather is a bit iffy at the moment, then I need to collect some library books I reserved. Not much else planned really.
All of February's budgets were done yesterday, and I made a start on filling up the pots that were emptied when we paid for the boiler.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I would go on twitter/facebook they tend to respond well when it is public. However I can't imagine that they were giving free gas and electricity all day on Saturdays, surely this will be a high use day. Don't you have written confirmation when you moved to the tariff?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi, thanks for the replies!
I'm paperless on my account so when it says free time under each energy that's where my info is. In going to go back and check through everything I have though just to be sure. I arranged it over the phone and came away from that conversation being under the impression both were free for 8 hours a week on a Saturday. There's only so much gas you can use with the heating on all day and that would only be in winter so it's not ridiculous amounts.
Will write that letter I think, thank you!Money Saving since 2016 and determined to be debt free by 2020.0 -
NSD achieved today 16/18
Grateful for:
Went for a walk in the park.
Managed to do some decluttering - recycle paperwork/shredding, binned somethings and a few things in the bag for a cs.
Having a chilled out day/evening.
Sorting out call protect on my mainline phone account for 2 numbers of people I want to stop phoning me - free service.
Someone sorting out the issue with the shed keyhole which is outside my flat for free.
Sending hugs to those who need them.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130
