Wow! There is a lot of it about. I think the last 3 weddings DH agreed to go to in the last year have been called off at the last minute, people that had been together for a long time. Better before than after though. Poor boy.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Thanks guys. I think they will still get married but when step ds' big sis + her family couldn't make it (despite knowing the date for over 6 months...), and none of his friends could either (despite also knowing the date for over 6 months...). Their latest idea is to have a super small wedding and then have parties around the world later.... Who knows what they'll end up doing!
Toay I am grateful for seeing a few snowdrops start to poke their heads out (went to have a look after pippi mentioned them and she is soooooo much further north than me) , for not spending anything when out with dd, for dd making measured and sensible purchases that already make her happy, for getting a workout done, for dd's arm 'injury' not being as bad as it first appeared, for a warm house and warm clothes, for ski sunday (how do they not fall over? How do theymanage to stop at the end??).NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Evening all...
Today = NSD number 12
Today I am grateful for:- Getting on top of a few things
- A new friend
- A day to myself
I have been off track with everything this week - but had a bit of a pit-stop this evening to review a few things. I need a strategy to not always feel depleted mid-month... I get paid - feel great and enthusiastic - then splurge and lose momentum... I need to think on how I can avoid this... and thinking of going back to the envelope system... Allocate money each week in cash. When it's gone it's gone. Don't over spend on bargains... live within my means. I am also keeping a food waste/cost chart to tally how much my splurges actually save me. Sure I save on some items - but if I'm throwing stuff away that negates any saving.
Have a good evening and catch you tomorrow x⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Hi all turtles :j
Janus So this is a time to look forwards - where do you want to be in 12 months from now? I would like to have the house much clearer. Slow progress but small steps.. 5 years? House completely clear & clutter free, DD settled in her own home. 10 years? Spending half the year in Ireland, half here
Activity. This is a BOGOF one. Take up a new hobby or resurrect a new one. More tv knitting, am a machine I think. Find it hard to sit down without something to do tbh.
ALSO, be active. Keep moving. Day not snowy as forecast but still raining & cold. Quite active today trying to clear a room. Found lots more stuff, all of which I had forgotten we had. Eventually will clear this room fully & then maybe have the floor sanded.
Non-negotiables:
-18 NSDs (if not, why not?) Friday a spendy day, but sat/sun nsd so now 13/18
-your budgets are set by the start of the month and are fixed. Nearly - think I will say £250 for us & all animals, should not need near this amount so all saved will go to another project. Filling in book with receipts, found most of them. Kept receipts from shopping, will fill in book later. Still to do.....
-£5 to foodbank / charity Finally managed to do this!
-pay money to your debts FIRST - do not wait to see how much is left at the end - and live within your budget Do not have debt but have a cc paid off in full each month, which gives vouchers I use at Christmas. Has been a v spendy month, will cut down as much as possible. Will be prepping to start selling some of this stuff ASAP. Tomorrow I will sort at least a few things. Didn't do this..again.
-meal plan Lunch was LO tagliatelle for me & bacon sandwich for DH. Supper was kedgeree followed by LO apple crumble & YS cream.
Unabashed, unambiguous, unconditional, undaunted, undivided, unerring, unshakeable devotion to your goal(s). [more on this later] Do not exercise as was - like many people - put off at school. And I was also rubbish! Put off swimming by being pushed into the deep end (by the swimming teacher!) which instead of having the desired effect of getting me swimming, actually nearly drowned me..
Always plan your meals; always take a shopping list; always take your lunch to work and drink + snacks when out and about; avoid all coffee shops, vending machines, work canteens... Making shopping list for tomorrow now, don't work outside the home but do a bit of voluntary work. Deviated a bit from shopping list, but not much, took fruit to work & get free brews..Don't drink coffee & never go in coffee shops..will try & take snacks, drink when out & about..
Reduce, re-use, repair, re-gift, recycle, recover, refuse! And read. Reduced clutter in sunroom & bagged a load of newspapers to take to CS. Recycle bins full & out for collection tomorrow.
You are the key to reducing your debt, living modestly, keeping as fit and well as you can. So look after yourself - physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Determined to look after myself & pamper a little each week, have already had a face pack yesterday, need to do things for myself instead of being a in constant rush doing stuff for family Made time to have a bath after supper, then sat in PJs watching TV, big luxury for me...thrilling life I lead..
I want to re-introduce Bob's s t r e t c h challenge for January: how much extra can you earn / save off your food shop / move / remove.NO sign yet of said shoe but will keep identifying items to sell. Have realised that we have a ton of food still to eat, that's before we start on the 2 chest freezers (& little one inside fridge). There's only 2 of us (but often 3)..Survey to do for YouGov, if I ever get to cashing out it will be a miracle..
Would joining the 1% thread help you? Or the MFW for 2018? Or the pay off all your debts by xmas18? Does reading mrmoneymustache or frugalwoods inspire you? Have joined Frugalwoods challenge already & will be interested to see how it pans out. Have been on MMM & introduced his philosophy to DH, applied the principles so we are now MF - wish we had done it years ago, wasted so much time/money etc. in the past..New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Another NSD. Quiet day with lots of sleep (thank goodness). Had curry and watched a film with DS2 (he will give me the money for it on payday). I also have a clear bed, fully made up and DS2 put the duvet in its cover (my shoulder stopped me from even trying to do it - don't think I could even lift the quilt.
Still some decluttering to do but lots has been boxed and cubed and all the Christmas, Halloween and Autumn craft stuff is organised. Paper flower ideas and stuff for Easter crafts is separate but the biggie is general papercraft - need to diveide up birthday/ get well/ other greetings and put them in a file. Have a large bag of templates which need organising somehow (maybe grouped in separate plastic pockets so that people can see what we have).
Need to tackle paperwork, too. Ds2 did a load of washing up - the mountain doesn't look so daunting now.
Today I am grateful for peace and quiet, for contact with all my sons and a lovely bed/ sleeping area (I'll be made up when I get my desk/ working space sorted too).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Sorry not posted for a while.
Now up to 11/18 NSDs
Budget are looking ok apart from petrol/travel. I had been planning to drive down for my mum's birthday but the car had been making a funny noise so put it in the garage and booked bus tickets instead. Due to this being last minute, it was quite expensive. I got paid from 2nd job on Friday so put the money into this budget.
Unfortunately I had horrendous toothache all weekend so booked an emergency appt for today. Will need to be put on the credit card so hopefully won't be too much.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Morning turtles.
Sorry not posted in a while. Had a few spendy days, had my birthday too.
Shower is mostly broken so a plumbers bill is on its way when he comes to fix it. I want my powerful shower back!!
Today will be a NSD so that will total 11 so far.
Have had DHs payday, just waiting for mine. We've hit our savings target from DHs wages and with any luck we'll do a little debt repayment from mine. Likely only to be 1 payday in Feb so I've already budgeted based on that and have saved some extra from Jan to cover it. It'll be difficult but not impossible. Very glad it'll only be for 1 month!!
Got my debt repayment head on now that the savings target is met. I need this loan paid off before I can think about anything else. (Like loan #2!).
Right, I'll go fix my face and head to work!
Have a great day turtles
