Got a few jobs done around the house yesterday and will do a few more today, nothing big just little painting jobs really.

Managed to run yesterday first time since last week due to ice, it was hard work and my legs are hurting today a bit.

Took another bag to the charity shop, mainly books this time, I was brutal and got rid of several lovely cookbooks that I am just never going to use because the recipes are too faffy or too many ingredients.

Need to put some diesel in DH's car today but we should still have about £10 in the budget for this month, grocery budget is looking good too. My new month starts on Friday as that is payday.

Hi all, and belated happy birthday to those celebrating!

Not much to report. Saturday ended up being a spend day after all, OH and I went out for afternoon tea in the end. He was working but got rained off so we decided to treat ourselves. It was yummy lol.

Sunday was a NSD though, out all day in the snow and rain volunteering and then horse riding. It's not much fun at this time of year but I pay my money in advance so unless the weather is really, really foul I still try to get out, even for a short while!

Yesterday was a NSD too, today probably won't be as I'm go to call and pay for my horse riding lesson and also book some train tickets to go and visit my parents in a few weeks.

Today I am grateful for space and peaceful time, for a tough workout, for a chat with big sis, for updating all the receipts thus far, for stuffing owls, for finding the right shades of blue and yellow wool in my stash, for dd coping with the day, for dh having a good day too.

Belated happy birthday mothernerd And mummylewis

Think I’m up to 14 SFDs now. Yesterday was a blur as we had the call from OFSTED and life just became manic. They came today and have left after one day, phew. Now I just need to recharge for a weekend away with a friend and her friends. Everyone at work is off sick, at work but sick or off looking after sick kids. I’m hoping I don’t get it this week and that they come back soon, I’m not enjoying the morning barrage of phone calls and the subsequent organising their lessons for the day :(

    Hi all turtles :j

Janus So this is a time to look forwards - where do you want to be in 12 months from now? I would like to have the house much clearer. Slow progress but small steps.. 5 years? House completely clear & clutter free, DD settled in her own home. 10 years? Spending half the year in Ireland, half here

Activity. This is a BOGOF one. Take up a new hobby or resurrect a new one. Made a mess up of the tv knitting, now the contrast heel/toe section includes a band of the same colour around the sock due to using the wrong wool when picking up stitches. Rationalised by deciding to repeat the mistake on sock no 2, so they match. Joined in correct yarn, now the blasted colour is pooling, not sure I like the effect at all. grrr

ALSO, be active. Keep moving. Today is my volunteer day at the CS, still on my own so plenty of movement there..they are desperate for volunteers. DH commented they should treat the ones they have a bit better, agree.

    Non-negotiables:
-18 NSDs (if not, why not?) still14/18

-your budgets are set by the start of the month and are fixed. Nearly - think I will say £250 for us & all animals, should not need near this amount so all saved will go to another project. Filling in book with receipts, found most of them. Kept receipts from shopping, will fill in book later. Still to do.....

-£5 to foodbank / charity Finally managed to do this!

-pay money to your debts FIRST - do not wait to see how much is left at the end - and live within your budget Do not have debt but have a cc paid off in full each month, which gives vouchers I use at Christmas. Has been a v spendy month, will cut down as much as possible. Will be prepping to start selling some of this stuff ASAP. Tomorrow I will sort at least a few things

meal plan changed although prep done. Lunch was eggs for me & other crispbake for DH. Supper was Burgers & chips for DH, skinny burger with baked spuds & salad. DH treat iced bun I had yog banana & a crumbled over piece of rocky road.

Unabashed, unambiguous, unconditional, undaunted, undivided, unerring, unshakeable devotion to your goal(s). [more on this later] Do not exercise as was - like many people - put off at school. And I was also rubbish! Put off swimming by being pushed into the deep end (by the swimming teacher!) which instead of having the desired effect of getting me swimming, actually nearly drowned me..

Always plan your meals; always take a shopping list; always take your lunch to work and drink + snacks when out and about; avoid all coffee shops, vending machines, work canteens... Making shopping list for tomorrow now, don't work outside the home but do a bit of voluntary work. Deviated a bit from shopping list, but not much, took fruit to work & get free brews..Don't drink coffee & never go in coffee shops..will try & take snacks, drink when out & about..

Reduce, re-use, repair, re-gift, recycle, recover, refuse! And read. Took large bag of newspapers to cs but forgot books.

You are the key to reducing your debt, living modestly, keeping as fit and well as you can. So look after yourself - physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Determined to look after myself & pamper a little each week, have already had a face pack yesterday, need to do things for myself instead of being a in constant rush doing stuff for family Not much actual me time today, but will read later. Luckily DD gone to own home.

I want to re-introduce Bob's s t r e t c h challenge for January: how much extra can you earn / save off your food shop / move / remove.NO sign yet of said shoe but will keep identifying items to sell. Have realised that we have a ton of food still to eat, that's before we start on the 2 chest freezers (& little one inside fridge). There's only 2 of us (but often 3)..Eating up stuff from freezers but still a very long way to go. February could be a very low spend month, well that's what I'm aiming for..

Would joining the 1% thread help you? Or the MFW for 2018? Or the pay off all your debts by xmas18? Does reading mrmoneymustache or frugalwoods inspire you? Have joined Frugalwoods challenge already & will be interested to see how it pans out. Have been on MMM & introduced his philosophy to DH, applied the principles so we are now MF - wish we had done it years ago, wasted so much time/money etc. in the past..

Yesterday was a NSD so on 14 aiming for 15 today. It is very hard to spend money while stood on a ladder in my bedroom. I should do this more often:rotfl: The key to success!

Weather looks horrid so will drop the kids at school and come back to my ladder..

All food from stores, bit of baking, bit of laundry,

Finally finished the depressing book DH bought me for my birthday. With less than 10 pages to go the man was eaten by a tree, everyone went on with their lives. The End. Bah!

If that is real grown up literature I am sticking to werewolves and vampires unashamedly and unabashedly My name is F0xh0les and I read trashy novels. A lot of trashy novels. Often.

Belated Birthday Wishes to Mothernerd and MummyLewis

    Yesterday =NSD number 14
Today = NSD number 15 (if I behave myself when I'm out!)

    Today I am grateful for:
    • Hugs from the puppy
    • My wages at work finally getting sorted
    • A warm cosy home on a rainy miserable day
I think this month my finances should start to pick up a little... Finally got paid the back-pay I was owed and that means I can get back on track with some of my finances. My savings account will mature in March - and whilst it's not loads I'm not sure where to invest it. I can't get an ISA (as have a HelpToBuy one on the go) and I can't put anymore into that than I already am... Any ideas? Savings account interest rates are still pretty dire I think but I'll have a look around...

Wet and rainy outside today but I need to get into the gym or go for a walk or do some kind of activity. Have a good day everyone x
