NST January: Health, Wealth and a Life Well Lived

Evening all,
Just catching up after the weekend. Reporting new totals of 10/20 healthy days and 12/20 NSD's - doing really well on this front so am pleased with myself :money:
Saturday I spent studying and cleaning the house, also doing some slow cooker food for OH. Went out for dinner with some friends so it wasn't a NSD. Sunday I went for a quick ride on the horse early on, really enjoyed it as we both worked hard! Then off to my sister's for my niece's 1st birthday party. It was the first time in a long time that the close family had got together so it was really nice and peaceful. I hadn't realised how much I enjoyed it until later on last night.
Not much planned for this week. I've caught up with my finances today so I know where I stand for the rest of the month, and have started planning February's budget. I've got a little more cash than anticipated remaining, which is good as my breakdown cover runs out soon so I'll use it to pay for that at the end of the month. I also want to pay for a kickboxing membership, which is £15. The classes I'll do on a PAYG basis as I know I won't go every week so I don't want to waste membership fees.
Going to keep all my spends to 2 days a week where possible. I know I have to pay for parking at the chiropractor on Wednesdays, so I try to save any online/shop spends for Wednesday too so that I don't waste a NSD unnecessarily. Not sure if anyone else tries this method but I find it really helps to stop me spending money without thinking!
Meant to ask, does anyone know of an online pharmacy that sells hay-fever medication? I remember Martin recommending one in an email years ago for cheaper meds but forget the name.0 -

I use the liquid hay fever meds. If you ask the chemist for the name of the active ingredient - in my case it is cetirizine hydrochloride, it is £2.99 for a 500ml bottle, whereas a much smaller of branded liquid is £5-7.
What is the name of what you are looking for? Aldi do a 14 pack for less than £1, and many other supermarkets have under £1 ranges. Is it a specific one you prefer?4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today I am grateful for an enjoyable day at work, for walking in the dark, for getting home earlyish, for chats with several colleagues, for my lovely y11s, for dd getting on with her homework and her thank you notes, for my sister taking time off work when she needs to (she's another one with a rattley chest and antibiotics and has spent the last week sleeping), for chats with dh, for dh cooking a yummy chili for tea, for dh having a little extra work tomorrow.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Just a tip for hayfever: put a greasy cream (vaseline, for instance) on your lips and nostrils, around your eyes. The cream catches the pollen. A sticky mascara may also help.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590

Hi all turtles
First of all I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who was so very kind to me on this thread last week - I really appreciate it. One good thing that came out of it was the kindness of strangers, not just on here, but the guy who bothered to knock on our door & told us what had happened (he wasn't the person who did it, they didn't stop). Also to the neighbours 2 20-something daughters - that I do not even know - who heard the impact, then came over & helped DH pick him up & insisted on sending me inside as they could see how distressed I was. Then to come on here & see the positive messages, I thank you all it meant a lot.
Yesterday was difficult as DD had to be told, she took it very hard. She is in her twenties, but when she said ....'But he was my friend' it was so upsetting.
Janus So this is a time to look forwards - where do you want to be in 12 months from now? I would like to have the house much clearer. Slow progress but small steps.. 5 years? House completely clear & clutter free, DD settled in her own home. 10 years? Spending half the year in Ireland, half here
Activity. This is a BOGOF one. Take up a new hobby or resurrect a new one. Found a bag in one of the outside places that is kinda full of knitting, all in various stages....already sorted out one & 3/4 pairs of socks from that.
ALSO, be active. Keep moving. Have been in the garden clearing, it has helped being in the fresh air. Have managed every day for a short while, dodging the showers.
Non-negotiables:
-18 NSDs (if not, why not?) now on 9/18
-your budgets are set by the start of the month and are fixed. Nearly - think I will say £250 for us & all animals, should not need near this amount so all saved will go to another project. Filling in book with receipts, found most of them. Kept receipts from shopping, will fill in book later. Still to do..
-£5 to foodbank / charity Finally managed to do this!
-pay money to your debts FIRST - do not wait to see how much is left at the end - and live within your budget Do not have debt but have a cc paid off in full each month, which gives vouchers I use at Christmas. Has been a v spendy month, will cut down as much as possible. Will be prepping to start selling some of this stuff ASAP. but not today
-meal plan Lunch was HM mushroom soup Supper was toad in the hole with veg, hoped to have some veg left but cleaned plates & seconds eaten - sometimes the old favourites are needed.
Unabashed, unambiguous, unconditional, undaunted, undivided, unerring, unshakeable devotion to your goal(s). [more on this later] Do not exercise as was - like many people - put off at school. And I was also rubbish! Put off swimming by being pushed into the deep end (by the swimming teacher!) which instead of having the desired effect of getting me swimming, actually nearly drowned me..
Always plan your meals; always take a shopping list; always take your lunch to work and drink + snacks when out and about; avoid all coffee shops, vending machines, work canteens... Making shopping list for tomorrow now, don't work outside the home but do a bit of voluntary work. Deviated a bit from shopping list, but not much, took fruit to work & get free brews..Don't drink coffee & never go in coffee shops..will try & take snacks, drink when out & about..
Reduce, re-use, repair, re-gift, recycle, recover, refuse! And read. Have books to return to CS tomorrow
You are the key to reducing your debt, living modestly, keeping as fit and well as you can. So look after yourself - physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Determined to look after myself & pamper a little each week, have already had a face pack yesterday, need to do things for myself instead of being a in constant rush doing stuff for family Not much on this front tbh, seems pointless.
I want to re-introduce Bob's s t r e t c h challenge for January: how much extra can you earn / save off your food shop / move / remove.NO sign yet of said shoe but will keep identifying items to sell. Have realised that we have a ton of food still to eat, that's before we start on the 2 chest freezers (& little one inside fridge). There's only 2 of us (but often 3)..
Would joining the 1% thread help you? Or the MFW for 2018? Or the pay off all your debts by xmas18? Does reading mrmoneymustache or frugalwoods inspire you? Have joined Frugalwoods challenge already & will be interested to see how it pans out. Have been on MMM & introduced his philosophy to DH, applied the principles so we are now MF - wish we had done it years ago, wasted so much time/money etc. in the past..New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Hi All
Janus- still looking forward, bought a load of reduced Tshirts & shorts for my boys yesterday & finished my sons bday present shopping (not til April) to put up while prices are good.
Activity- went reduced shopping but it was rubbish, running again tonight.
Non Negotiable- meal plans done, budget still fine but doing badly with NSDS think I am on 6 if I make it through today  holiday did not help & then last night I went to Tesco & found a lot of clothes in the sale at really really good prices, T shirts for 50p-£1 , shorts for 3 pounds a pair, all really smart and all on my list of holiday clothes the kids need. The good news is that all they need now is shoes (which I will need to buy nearer the time) and my hub needs some T shirts. I know I will be glad in the long run for my spend, but I could have done without it this month. oh well. Budgets still the same.
unbashed- went reduced shopping even though I really could not be bothered, even though I ended up spending , my intentions were good :A:D
Always plan- lunches packed, holiday clothes bought cheap, sons bday gifts all bought and paid for with some extra money I got off someone.
Reduce, reuse, repair- left over for lunch yday,
You- taking time to watch my programme tonight. I really do not have any time in the day when I do nothing. need to work on this.
S T R E T C H - getting a stroller for my hol with some amazon vouchers I was given. need 2 but also due some cashback so will buy the second then
:money:0
