Gigervamp makes a good point about savings. It used to be £16k I think that you were allowed to have before you failed to qualify for benefits. If you have more than that they will expect you to live off that.

  • Thanks for that :)
I have less than £16 k so hopefully they won't be ott on me . We'll see. I have put things in my journal today , as mentioned earlier.
What I will do probably tomorrow , is mention the snow and cold weather . It's snowing here :)
  • Woke up around 3.30 . Rough night sleep wise . Aching head. I did have the sniffles intermittently throught the last 2 weeks . I realised that after taking 2 ibuprofen , my pillows decided to leave me and go behind my head towards the floor . The mattress seems to have moved also .
Got up , watched Raymond and Frasier . Took pictures of the snow again . Entered into the u c journal about the adverse weather conditions . Hopefully , the common sense is there and they will leave me alone . Tidied kitchen at last . Well, 90+% ;)
Listening to jean michel jarres latest album while doing so . I may actually start recording stuff over the weekend myself .
    Have a good one ..

Hi AC! So here we are it's Monday...... and I bet that's a bit difficult for most people, but especially for job seekers. Groan :(

Personally nothing gets done till after about my third coffee on a Monday but it's a fantastic time to catch up with everyone's weekends.

So, how was yours? I hope you felt better after Friday and your busy week and you managed to do something musical just for you. We missed snow in my part of the midlands but it was very cold, hopefully you stayed warm and well.
  • Howdy .
Thanks for the good wishes and advice Georgina and moo:)
Well, I decided to have a few beers with my friend on sat afternoon , as it was such a nice sunny day . Got home in time for the England / Ireland rugby game . All good

Had to buy a couple of smallish items in homesense yesterday .
The water bottle I use in the gym had a fault in it last week and leaked everywhere so needed replacing . I had to get some tuppaware so I can cook meals and reheat them next day etc . I also got a retro Tony the Tiger retro Frosties tin to put my porridge and nuts in . Plus I'm still 5 years old .:D

Has the sniffles still , and couldn't sleep much last night . The baggage has been forming under my eyes and I felt ropey today.

I saw mr trainer, but the session was great . New legs may be needed tomorrow tho. He did give me great advice about universal credit . He said I should write a note to my doctor . I thought that I just made an appointment and told them what I wanted. I made a note on my iPhone like a letter to the doctor , and sent it to mr trainer asking for his opinion/ approval . Once I know , I will make appointment and hopefully get it done .

I added a note in the u c journal listing a website I joined and sent my cv to. I didn't tell them how many times I blew my nose, but may save that for another day during the week .

Hope your Monday's are ok ..
  • Slept a bit better last night . Just feel a bit groggy .

I was going to make an appointment with the doctor today, regarding getting a sick note to upload on the universal credit website .
Apparently , I have to wait till I see my job coach and will be given a lot of paperwork to fill in and return by post .
In a way, I thought seeing the doctor may have been a good idea ,and that they could put down their opinion into my files which would help my case. Having said that, I don't expect to be successful with the 15 questions that need to be answered . The annoying thing is ,at the end of the day that I'm only after a part time position . Not at the end of the day though, just early -mid mornings :o

Hi AC it sounds like you had a good weekend and are off to a good start this week :T

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of work do you see yourself doing?

By this I mean do you want to work in retail, sales, office admin, customer services, etc. ?

I know you've mentioned part time and early in the day, would this be say 4-5 hours for 5 days or could you do 8 hours for 3 days for example? What do your medical advisors think you can do? Can you lift, carry, stand for short periods of time?

Just trying to get a feel for the sorts of jobs you think you can do and how flexible you can be in terms of days/times whilst still safeguarding your health.

Hi moo. I can't really get a job in procrastination can I ?:)
Everything has been office based . The unfortunate thing is that I have done the same type of role in all of the companies I worked for since I was 18 or so.
My job history has always been a continuation of the job I did previously . I took on a postal clerk / messenger position , which over the years meant my job title was messenger , facilities assistant , office services , etc. I have been called many things in and out of the workplace . The downside to the continuous employment pattern ,is that the wages were never great , I lived on overtime and I got pigeon holed as the agencies just gave me what was on their books.
I didn't really take the chance to better myself ,as I was always working long hours and had a very busy social life . No complaints really but I do wish it was 1986/7 all over again :rotfl:

Regarding the condition , and my possible Job fit :
    Ideally , I would prefer early - mid mornings say 7-12 / 8- 1 pm etc
The main reason for that , is that I think my system needs proper continuity . As I mentioned a while back, I had that part time job for Royal Mail . It was wrong on so many levels . There. Is no bus service at night from that area of the world . Then , when I was having a chat with one of my colleagues who was really nice bloke, he noticed my left eye collapsing . My take on this is to find somewhere that's manageable to get to and from , and that in time I would build up strength and confidence .
What's really annoying for me , is that I could lift an ox . I'm not as strong now, but I know I can't do that as much .

I have to be open to change . I get that . Always have been . I have seen jobs advertised on Homebase for example , but I cannot do the 11pm shift . The Royal Mail are still advertising for Christmas casuals now , but that's because the shifts are crap as is the hourly rate .

My condition has improved somewhat with the rest I have been taking. I'm no longer breathless going about my business . I can walk further . The muscles do get weak obviously because it's mainly the nervous system is working the opposite way in what it should . Mr. Trainer is doing a great job in rebuilding me ,and is trying to get universal credit to pay for it . However, if I get off of a chair , it's not straight forward . If I go upstairs, I have to hold onto the rails . And of course the weight . It is getting better, and I'm hoping that during this year the water retention from the prednisolone will fall off of me and that I can move much faster doing my business .
I have to wait for my universal appointment with the training coach who after assessing me , should send me forms to fill in about my ltd capability to work . Once I get the forms , I go to the doctor and ask them to give a note explaining my circumstances .
I can lift, stand , carry things fo short periods of time . I don't want to stand a lot though l
I hope this clarifies things :)
