Yay! Great work AC! You've certainly earned a rest after that little lot.

Using Govt Gateway and Universal Jobmatch was one of the toughest things for people to get their heads round in my job club so well done for doing all that. Now whatever you do DO NOT FORGET OR LOSE YOUR LOGIN DETAILS. Cos it's a right pain if you do.

A little tip for when you go along for your interview with the job centre. At some point they will agree with you your weekly job search commitment. They will expect you to include a number of job search related activities up to 35 hours a week. In the past some of my clients had to apply for quite a few jobs daily which was quite difficult to acheive for some, and let to a quantity not quality approach.

I do think that, as you have issues when you are tired due to your condition it would be reasonable for you to suggest a slower approach. Perhaps you could suggest that, whilst happy to job search and do supporting activities, you will need appropriate rest breaks. This may mean that you agree to do correspondingly fewer activities. If you put it this way it's more likely you will be able to agree to a suitable amount of activities and not overtire yourself or impede your continuing recovery.

Hope I'm not scaring you, I just think you'll be better to go along forewarned.

    Anyway, great work AC :T :T :T

Well done AC, now you've got the really hard bit done. Moo's given you good advice about your interview. You won't want to fall behind on your commitment and get a sanction, so see if they'll agree something that you feel you can do.

When you go to the JC, how about also popping into an agency and get on their books? Might as well kill two birds with one stone, and the sooner you get on some agencies books, the sooner you might get a job, and then you can stick two fingers up at the JC!

Wonder how long it will be before an engineer calls you! When does your contract with them end?
  • Thanks for your kind words and advice . Nice tips moo. Lots to think about

I have been able to list a few concerns / requirements online in the areas available . These are : part time , ideally early morning / working in Poole /Bournemouth and Southampton at a push.
    I listed why obviously .
What was annoying about tomorrow's appointment being cancelled , is the weather . Tomorrow is supposed to be the best day before the snow hits etc
Saturday it improves . Now I'm wondering weather I can be bothered . Only joking . I've got this far so I'll have to go through this ordeal . Smiler to swallowing razor blades ....

Well at least the clock's started on your Universal Credit claim so hopefully money coming in once you complete the required interview and jump any residual hoops....

I'm hoping to be of some use to you in your job search once you're ready. I've helped quite a few people through job club, sometimes took a little time but most people found suitable, sustainable work. So if you've any questions, please ask.

If it's going to snow next few days you might as well think about your online job search. Think about what search engines you want to sign up with and if you want to use Linkedin or Facebook to search for jobs. I'd suggest you do both of these if you have/are happy to get an account - lots of businesses advertise jobs there now.

And of course, don't forget the gym when you can get there - tell people you're looking for work, word of mouth still works wonders.
  • Thanks again moo :)
I have been on the indeed website , and applied unsuccessfully for a couple of jobs . Not too conncernecd, but at least I'm on the indeed radar . When I was in Twickenham/ London I joined the secs in the city website ( and many others ). I still get emails from secs , though as it is London based .

I joined a flurry of other websites last week . One of those are American . It said parkstone as well
I keep getting so many bleeps from my phone and iPad so many times during the day .

When I made the decision to relocate , I knew that this would be the hardest part . I was warned . London is full of jobs , but is full of unprintable stuff that I cannot say here :D I don't miss it at all .
I'm not after much really . We'll see . I don't want to go all morrissey or Leonard Cohen on anybody . Although there is one good Leonard Cohen album that is not morbid . Honest :rotfl:
I played gang green earlier, but am now relaxing to tangerine dream .
Who said I was unstable ?:rotfl:

Yeah it'll be a bit tough this bit but certainly possible. And I'm sure that you'll do it as looking back over this thread you're very determined and have this wonderful support posse on MSE!

And I do love a bit of Tangerine Dream :)
  • Well, the signing in process is a pita already . Not recognised . Fixed now, so I'll save the anger for another time .
It's snowing . Well, sort of . No gym for me today :p
Having said that , I have to expect a trip to the job centre at any time

I had a halogen light bulb go out a few days ago. Went to Homebase on sat . Discontinued . Ordered a box of them on fleabay. Delivery expected today . No time given . Probably lunchtime .

The flat opposite mine has been let now. The flat above me is now unavailable until March . No idea why that is .
Gotta get cracking on the music room . A bit like Teresa May,. I seem to be running out of ideas on how to tidy up the mess ...

There's a website called Apartment Therapy that has lots of ideas for organising. It's a US site, so the links to products will be US too, but you don't need to use them, as you can find similar items here. The site is aimed at people living in small spaces (hence the name), so you might find some helpful tips on there.
  • Thanks gigervamp . Yes it's a very good site . I looked at loads of stuff when I first moved in . Almost there .

I've just had a message from universal credit . I cannot be paid anything towards service charges to my flat, as you need to be at least 9 months on universal credit . This would've been affecting a mortgage if I had it . Still I expected that . I'm unsure when to apply for council tax reduction , as the new bill doesn't get announced until March. I paid up in December .
I'll save the anger for later ..

Apply for the council tax reduction AC. Feel the love for the form filling :D

Seriously, the sooner you claim things, the longer any money due will be back dated and they may even give you a rebate/refund which could slightly offset the service charge for a little while.

    Every penny helps.
