It doesn't look like you are doing awful, if you last 'till Monday, you will have £100 left for the last week - that's amazing.

I am trying to only buy fridge stuff and use up ingredients here. I have made up a large batch of soup for freezing and am in the process of using nearly the last of the veg on making some veggie burgers, have also made some spicy lentil dip, which is just brown lentils, fried onions, garlic and some curry paste (blitzed). I have done a meal plan, so I 'hopefully' stick to trying to use stuff up.

BREAKFASTS - Veggie Smoothies With Green Powders OR Overnight Oats OR Breakfast Muffins
LUNCHES – Soup, Onion & Garlic Or Spicy Red Lentil & Tomato
    DINNER
Mon - Charcoal Noodles, Mushrooms, Courgettes, Onions, Meat-Free Sausage & Mushroom Sauce
Tue – Same as Above (leftovers)
    Wed - Veggie Casserole
Thu - Spicy Veggie Mince Wraps With Salad
Fri – Meat Free Meatballs in a Creamy Mustard Sauce & Pumpkin Noodles
Fri - Veggie Mince With Cauliflower Rice

    Thankyou, you’re right.
It just seems like so much effort constantly thinking about what we’re going to eat, planning and cooking everything from scratch all the time, but needs must.
I know it’s what should be done and I know we are healthier but sometimes I just want to lay in bed haha

Your menu sounds lovely especially the charcoal noodles? Very interesting!

I get what you mean. I'm a very lazy cook at times, which is why I batch cook, so when I come in late, I can just zap something in the microwave. I try to meal plan, so I can use up ingredients and not have to think what to have. The mushroom sauce, was from mushroom soup I made, I froze some of it in ice-cube trays, then bagged, so I could use as a sauce (laziness).

They look interesting, they are black, but to be honest, they taste just like any noodles.

    Take care. x

Small spend of £2.70 today on gravy granules, ended up changing my meal plan around as I had a small amount of time and didn't think I'd have time to make Cottage pie so had tomorrow's planned meal instead and I'll make the cottage pie tomorrow.

Good luck! If you look at it by Monday we’re pretty close to the end of the month. I didn’t even realise we were so close to the end already! :T

  • Hi all,

I am off work again, this time with laryngitis! That's the second time this year I've been ill, and we're only halfway through the first month!!

Anyway, I've been totting up my spends for this month, and I'm at £54.12. I'm happy with that, as it's only just over £1pppd. I have two more shops to do this month, and generally a weekly shop is £17-£24 so I'm looking ok.

My appetite has gone again, so I'll need to watch the stuff in the fridge and freeze if needed. I've already wasted a couple of things this month, so need to watch this carefully.
