  • No spends in about 6 days. I ran out of plant milk, but have been making oat milk. I've been living out of stores. I might leave it 'till Thursday or Friday, as only buying fridge stuff. The fridge is quite run down from how it normally is, but still have salad stuff, a few veggies, which I'm gonna turn into veggie burgers for freezing, mushrooms, avocados. Also gonna make some tomato & lentil soup, & some spicy lentil dip. I may make some coleslaw, but am down to my last bottle of free from salad cream - eking it out 'till the end of the month, as I'm not wanting to buy plastic. Cooked up a ton of veg hanging in the fridge, added curry paste, garlic, a tin of butter beans, spicy kidney beans, brown lentils and veggie bouillon - made 12 portions, 8 portions have been frozen. Re plastic, I did buy a jar of peanut butter in Morrisons on my last shop (with a plastic lid), 60p vs the one with the metal lid £3.99. I'm trying to do my best, not gonna beat myself up - it is what it is. No money spent on alcohol, as I'm doing dry January, so pleased with that. I think the fact I have got into the habit of making my own veggie burgers has kept me out of the supermarkets, not that I go to them that often.
  • Afternoon all.

So far since 25/12 - we have spend £70.20. We seem to be going shopping every couple of days but only when we run out of food or nearing to running out. As our local SM is only at the top of our street, we don't do big shops.

Hopefully no more shopping apart from milk and bread until the weekend.

Hope that everyone has a good rest of today & this week.

  • Stupidly picked up a co-op meal deal for lunch because I’m feeling poorly and down and not at all in the mood to make soup.... £3.50 to add which is just shocking but oh well.

So we originally budgeted for £100, however we’ve increased this to £120, as we feel we were being too strict on ourselves and not allowing “treats”, which I feel we should allow ourselves otherwise we’ll doubt our decision 😂. We’ve so far spent around £65 which is really good. For the rest of the month all we will really need is milk and ham and cheese for partners pack up. When we’re short for money, we make our bread as we already have those ingredients. Partner had a meeting at work tonight so we went out for a meal beforehand, costing just under a tenner for the both of us with a discount I get there. That’s not too bad for a meal out but could have done with that £10 for our actual food shopping. We tend to do a big shop together maybe once or twice a month (big to us is like £20-£30 in Aldi), mainly when I have a weekend off with him. We stocked the freezer up late November/early December time and shouldn’t need to restock it again with meat until next month. We need to put some money aside from the food budget for the big meat shop. We normally spend about £40 getting lots of chicken breasts, mince and sausages. It’s really hard not jumping at all the “special” offers but I’ve realised shops tend to have them at those prices a lot, so don’t really need to stock up on them. Will update next week, and hope to have no spend for the remainder of this week 🤞

Hi all, did my top up shop at Ald! spent £10.94 and got the bits I couldn't get from Tosco spent £12.33 there. Hubby reminded me we needed gravy when I got home, so he'll have to pick some up tomorrow as I'm planning on making a cottage pie and I like extra gravy on top.
