i actually think trumps tax reduction is a heaven. it benefits everyone.

Is it sustainable without large cut-backs? If not, who suffers?

When taxes are cut 'strivers' benefit and 'slackers' face the consequences of poor life choices.

Societies based on the reward of idleness fail and deserve to fail.

And societies that put more and more power and wealth into the hands of the few often end in violent revolution. American is on that path.

So give your own money away!

I do not vote for a Government that confiscates my hard earned cash so that it can be recycled to those whose curtains never twitch before 11am in the morning to spend on essentials such as:

    fags
    cheap vodka/cider
    lucky dips/lottery tickets

When in fact the acquisition of a Library card (free) and the encouragement of their children to strive at school (and not destroy the life chances of others by misbehaviour) would be a better idea.

The Government funds generational poverty, thankfully UC is one small step in addressing this!

That is a nice black and white characterisation beloved of the Daily Mail et al. It’s nice because it makes it look like paying less tax is virtuous and hence selfishness is good. The truth Is that taxes go to the NHS, the police, care homes, road building, schools and so on. And spending on social needs can benefit society. If poorer children are better educated, they add wealth to the economy. Better infrastructure adds to the economy. Personally I could pay more tax as could most middle class people. I could go on about real issues such as the unwillingness of UK industry to train staff.

Yes, it has the benefit that if you are rich you know it is because you are a superior person than all those in poverty around you and your wealth is well deserved. And the richer you become the better person you must be. How nice!

The fact that your satisfactory situation in life is mostly due to the efforts of other people just passes you by.

Genuinely if you feel you want to give your money away to the less advantaged please feel free!

'They'd ring up their orders separately, buying food with food stamps, and beer, wine, and cigarettes with cash. They'd regularly go through the checkout line speaking on their cell phones. I could never understand why our lives felt like a struggle while those living off government largesse enjoyed trinkets that I only dreamed about.'

p139 Hillbilly Elegy - auth. JD Vance pub. William Collins 2016

substitute 'taking food from food banks' for the UK

Thank god the POTUS is reducing this gross inequity, not only a Bull market but a resergence of the 'strivers' and economic growth is the most likely result for the US.

The Tories need to stop apologising for the market and start removing the unnatural chains that hold it back!

Who paid for your school? Who paid for the NHS care that you had from when you were born? etc etc etc

    Your attitude is laughably blinkered.

Hillbilly Elegy is a superb book and made me fall back in love with the great USA all over again.

The energy, resilience, good manners and public spiritedness of your average Yank shame the 'pan handlers' of the UK who always assume that it is my responsibility to provide 'free' things for them. If they find fault with any of the 'free' things be it accomodation in West London or a requirement to be available for work they then whine endlessly to any passing TV journalist about Tory 'austerity'.

Or as they chant in the queue for lottery tickets:

    'Oh Jeremy Corbyn!'
