Yay that's great that everyone is on board and that you are here for the long haul- me too! So glad I started this thread its really helped me to stay on track and to declutter little and often as a way of life rather than it becoming an absolutely massive task to tackle.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

Hi everyone, I've been awol again. Few things going on here ATM so family time is more pressing than internet currently but I'm still plodding along with the de-cluttering.
Have sold a few bits on Ebay, so the money from that will go towards my debt, and I'm clearing out in the process lol.
My plan was that any stuff that hadn't sold by this Wednesday will be going to the 2nd hand shop, change of plan there that our school will be having a Jumble sale in the run up to Easter for Trocaire so I'll hold on to those bits and bring them up to work with me then. Means that the money will go towards our donation to charity then and our kids will hopefully get some enjoyment from them instead.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

Just found your thread (and what an inspiring lot you are) - maybe I will be motivated too.
But what I really wanted to say that I have just helped move my Aunt into a care home. This is a determined, mentally competent but physically frail lady who occupied a small 2-bedroomed flat.
Having decided last year to go into care this year, did she start selecting & decluttering ? Did she heck !
Last Wednesday, I spent the day with her STARTING the sorting process. On Sunday, the day before the move, hubby & I spent 8 hrs between us helping her sort out, cull and decide.
Monday, there were 5 family members helping at both ends of the move plus 3 removal men (who incidentally, in their zeal packed not only stuff marked for a local hospice, but also the contents of the shredder bin !!)
There were enough ornaments she wanted to take to fill all the surfaces with no spaces between. There are still boxes on the floor to go through and although we all felt that the 'quart into a pint pot' was magnificently achieved, I fear she will still be discovering locations for many weeks.
We all felt we should not inflict that on our own relatives if the time comes. A full life does indeed include many memories through books, albums, etc, but if you're realistically never going to read it, fit into it, look at it & so on - then get rid of it !
Here endeth the proselytising lesson - I hope you didn't mind me sharing it but it seemed appropriate.0 -
Hi, I have just come across this thread and think it is very inspiring - you've all done so well in getting rid of stuff!
Could I join you please? I have a bad habit of putting things into piles to deal with later and then never actually dealing with them so I hope that coming on here to announce my decluttering will help me actually get rid of some stuff.
I did list 20 things on eBay at the weekend and a few of them will sell so that's a start but I have a whole other pile to start on this weekend!0 -
Been awol too as I've been busy getting furniture organised and the kids! I've done some major decorating too
Decluttered a bag to the charity shop yesterday and ran out before I could buy anything! Then sold a very large sideboard that was picked up yesterday. First sale as everything else has just gone to charity. Hopefully it's the start of lots more sales and decluttering. I've nearly managed to clear the front room but mostly by redistribution round the house! Will then tackle it one draw/cupboard/shelf at a time!Sealed pot challenge 2019 = #82
Jan 2019 Grocery Challenge = £0/£260
Declutter 2019 items in 2019! = 0/2019

Congrats to all on this. A real 'resolution' that's working. Wish I could be as successful. I do try!
One point - remember to sign up any charitable gift donations for Gift Aid. It allows the charity to claim back tax you will have paid. They should have the necessary form which does need you to give your name and address. Remember to ask them for no further marketing tho'!0 -
No decluttering here for me since my last post on Sunday. Got a phone call not long afterwards to say that my aunt had died so everything has been put on hold since then. Funeral was today so after a busy week time to have a time out and forget about silly things and more family time.
Maybe next week I'll look into starting to declutter again and get my mojo back, but for now it's family time and chill out time.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
I'd like to give it a try. I'm not sure I could manage 3 every day, but I think I could commit to 15 things a week:)0
