  • Cake in temperamental oven, seems to have almost cooked remarkably quickly, so is now back in the oven covered with some greaseproof whilst the oven cools down.

Himself, as he likes cake so much, has cleaned the kitchen countertops twice and is currently washing up. As he wanted to 'help', I actually just sat with a cuppa and gave instructions; in the end, it turned out to be a raisin and berries loaf, as there was no mixed fruit in the shops and he came back with dried cranberries, we had the remains of a punnet of fresh blueberries and I shoved a dollop in of the HM Elderflower, lemon and blackberry jam I made months ago. Oh, and a slug of whiskey.

Oh, and whilst my back was turned, he had 'a moment' with the Idiot Cat as he was supervising proceedings on the table; We now have a fetching photograph of Idiot Cat wearing a stripey teatowel on his head as though he's ready for his part in the Nativity.

  • atb I do that too. Famously went to a 50th birthday last year, one of those parties where someone is constantly filling your glass and because DH knew lots of people and I didnt I drank far more than I should have. Felt so ill the next day.

Nice day here. Went to the shops to look at curtains and buy food. DS and GF came with us and went off to do their own thing for a bit. Decided that I will make do with the curtains I had up before we decorated because I still like them. Did buy a new curtain pole and a couple of other bits for the house. All sensible purchases.

Going to watch telly now, hoping DS is staying in and not expecting a taxi home later.

I will be cheering the Fly-Marketeers on but not joining. Have long ago decluttered anything worth selling out of my house!

Boys are wonderful piggers, oldest is 19 next Thursday .... 10 years ago I started as a Flylady when Mogg went so we’ve done some time together they used to be little youngest 17 at the end of the month and 6ft 5! Size 14 boxes on his feet. Both at college, oldest at specialist one struggling with life in general, youngest doing games design mainstream and thriving. Got boosted up to level 3 when he started

Wedding was a weird one, he’s asked for 20 years and we lost 5 family in 16 months. Decided ok why not. Coincides with my 40th saves two parties. Very strict budget got not one penny put away yet. Did buy a dress but I have to get it back. Asked a friend to look after it who I’m not speaking with. I’ve arranged for 2 to collect it sofar and she hasn’t been in. On a diet too, gone from 28 jeans to 22 so far which I am chuffed with

Would love to join the sell it thing but my lot wreck so much but what I can do is rag up what can’t be which saves work money

Anyway today been in and out but the sinks been empty .... not clean as I would like but better. Bottle of ‘shiny sinks’ and ‘hob brite’ not been used for so long they have settled.

Gutted the fridge, fixed one of the drawer fronts back on with cling film, will get some duck tape from work

Joined in the GC, my hoarding is still horrific, use and make do and mend will be most of my savings. Just ‘switched’ to save £300 per year gas and electric. I must get the garage at the old house I moved from over 2 years ago now emptied and the keys handed in. That’s £40 a month for nothing
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Morning all,

Still in bed drinking a cuppa. I'm getting up with the kids tomorrow morning so only fair I got the lie in today!

Throat is very sore and poor DD has a high temperature. DH will be going to Aldi at 11 to pick up something nice for tea and some apple juice - DD keeps asking for it, and if it keeps her hydrated and eases her throat why not. As a rule we don't have juice in the house so this is a one off.

Flying will be minimal, but would like to break the £100 barrier on our Marketeers challenge. More fleabay listing me thinks.

Will pop back in later xxx

    Morning all.

Glad that Devil Cat is still with you HB.

I have been prepping food ready for tonight's buffet as I will be at the beach with the dogs during the day. Going to get dressed and moving soon.

    Have a great day everyone.

Sorry to hear of your losses.. My OH got round to asking me to marry him on the 26th.. naturally I said why? and then no.. we are in talks.. so it might yet happen... or not.. depending on my whim because I am weird :p (Tigsteroonie and Marleyboy are also getting married this year.. I'm sure you're familiar with them on site too.) There is a wedding board here if you are needing any ideas.. though most 'moneysavers' seem to have budgets of £10k+ .. mine would be more like 10p lol

excellent weight loss!! Valli is a wee slip of a thing now too.. I'll be the only porker round these parts soon!!

How do they grow so quick? You never believe people who say to enjoy your babies because they grow so fast but they really do!! I have grandbeast number 5 due in April.. 'baby' Jacob is 10 in 6 weeks! Sounds like your 2 are excelling their predicted ability again.. they really have the right parents, you must be incredibly proud of them both!

I was a rebel and tore out the used pages from the notebook used for the last 2 years and started afresh with 4 pages of lists and I need to add the christmas stuff to it next..

WM went on as I went to bed last night and OH has hung his work stuff on the radiator to dry..
Squeak messaged her friends mum asking if her friend could come play on Friday so I have that to look forward to.. or not!

DS3 just wobbled downstairs in hypo mode so is being repeatedly nagged to eat.. he gets nauseous and dizzy and talks rubbish instead of getting food.. so I have to nag him to sort it.. and he comes in here waving a yoghurt saying Twinkle wants it.. then he comes in with half a loaf saying that is all bread we have... I don't freaking care.. go sort your blood sugar out you loon!! argh!!

Thanks Piggers *grins* still a way to go, though, and damage from last week to undo. SW works for me and that’s what I shall stick to. I can now put my socks on without my inhaler (slight exaggeration but only slight)!

Waiting to go n the shower. Forecast is dry and sunny so ideal to peg out DDs salopettes and clean out Benny.
    Must tackle ironing mountain today.
Tonight, for the first time in many years I am out for New Year, it’s a social thing for singles I think, not a dating thing just for people who are alone, my friend goes to them and invited me.
Going out has been a chore this year, I have done it but would have happily shut myself away.
And I must finish some work stuff...

Well I hope my budget of under £3000 that I’ve not put away yet might be close. Can’t bank on OHs insurance claim being sorted as it’s been 2 years now.

Can’t believe baby Jacob is nearly 10, that’s nuts, why can’t we just keep them little forever ?

Well done Valli :) many tips needed. We’ve just been at poohbear’s cottage and she’s tiny weeny very inspiring. Buying a pair of 22 jeans yesterday instead of 28s was great as I shared on the book of faces. Many sizes to still loose

My MsE ways have totally slipped I spend the months shuffling money about to cover bills as I’ve lost track on what we pay out. I’ve no idea what I have spent on groceries or cleaning over the last maybe 2+ years. I feel really out of control and I don’t like it. Likewise control over the house to the point we’ve still not finished unpacking, there is boxes in places hidden, we still haven’t put curtains up and rely on the blinds. So .... somehow I must fit it in

    Today’s must do list

*sink empty - we have a dishwasher no idea why this just ends up the dumping ground
*coats away from the dining table - no idea
    * vacuum downstairs
    * 2 x washer loads try to catch up a bit .... would love empty for new year but we’ll see how many it takes
    * see if I can get the rest of this fridge shelf fixed and back in
    * some sort of meal plan for a few days
One day I might be more organised...........

FBO hugs at a difficult time.
atb and other sickies, hope you feel better soon.
We were galvanised out of our stupor yesterday into vaguely tidying the lounge as friends came round in the afternoon despite our warnings about catching whatever cold/cough/shivers virus we have got. Happy to hear that bereaved friend's Xmas wasn't as bad as he'd feared.
Rather a disturbed night: very wet and windy here and all sorts of ominous banging and rattling round the house although nothing appears to have actually fallen off that we can see, nor has the conservatory roof leaked (think that is the next biggie the house needs). Didn't cough too much, but in one of my 3am wanderings I managed to empty the last box of 'stuff' we'd brought back from mum's . I seem to have the world's biggest supply of chocolate and gf biscuits; not something I'd normally moan about but I need to pace myself especially as I still can't taste much.
    DW on.
    2 loads washing done yesterday.
We were going to spend NY in Suffolk with friends, but don't feel up to it. I generally find NY very depressing anyway and take great pleasure in going to bed well before midnight - in fact last time we went to the same friends, I did just that, to the bemusement of all.
    Today's list:
    - finish putting away all unboxed stuff in lounge.
    - sort through 3 piles of paperwork in lounge which, to my embarrassment, includes birthday cards (I'm an April Aries) and goodness knows what else.
    - as the lounge seems my theme, may as well do some hoovering/dusting activities.
    - 1 invoice to send
    - 1 essay to check
    - 1 report finished would be heaven but at least do some work on it.

I'm not going to plan anything any more ambitious although as we haven't felt well enough to shop other than a bit on the way home on Thurs, we may gird our loins and go to a supermarket. Against my principles shopping on a Sunday so it depends how empty the cupboards look, may even get some bargains if we go late.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
