So they haven't had a loving relationship up to now because they've both used their own surnames?0

I don’t know them, but I’m sure they have otherwise they wouldn’t be thinking about marriage. So they haven't had a loving relationship up to now because they've both used their own surnames?
You have to realise that most women are not so interested in the feminist movement. My wife for instance loves the fact that I open doors for her and treat her with respect. Each to their own though and a Merry Christmas to you.0

So if they have had a loving relationship with two names for all these years, why should the woman change her name now?
Why would it mean their relationship was less loving if she didn't want to?

I do the same for my husband. Nothing to do with feminism - just normal behaviour.0

I don't think you actually understand what feminism is. Treating her with respect is not something you get a medal for. It is the absolute minimum acceptable behaviour between any to people!

I don’t remember asking for a medal. I’m at my sons house and he is cooking dinner. My daughter in law is playing with my two grandsons. We all have the same surname.0

Weve always thought about marriage. ( proposed after 6 weeks of being together but knew each other 3 years before that ) Just the hassle of trying to please everyone else of how the wedding would be etc we didn't bother. Now most of those issues are gone.
And no I'm not cooking dinner as I do it every other week night!!!
( plus its meat and I'm veggie )0

So what difference would it make if she didn't change her name on marriage - they've been a happy, loving couple for all these years while they've been using their own names.0

Who knows, maybe having different names might rip them apart. I certainly hope not but who knows what can happen with all that naming confusion.0
