I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

    MSE Florida wedding .....no problem
  • Hello guys, had a good read through the threads, and after considering for the past few months, have finally completed the application! Pity I didn't do it in time for before Christmas! Have a few questions though...

Is it ok to use a laptop rather than PC? Also, it states that your screen has to be 17", anyone using a typical 14" laptop? Think I'll have to buy a new laptop if I get the job, as this one is only 12"6 odds and have been needing an excuse to splash out on a new one anyway, but I'd rather go for the 14" if I can get away with it!

Just finished the application a few hours ago... anyone any rough idea how long it takes from filling in application to definite training offer?

Also, worked in a few call centres before, the one I'm in at the moment, you actually have to hit a button to accept an incoming call, unusual considering most jobs before it just beeped in your ear! Does it generally be call after call or are there lag times in between waiting for the next call to come through?

Saw the job advertised on jobcentreonline.com, it stated 20 hrs, though I've heard talk here of 30 hrs? Is that an option? Also, heard talk of bonus's and such, are they in place? Can't imagen how, seeing as it's customer service and not sales, though would be nice!

You can use a laptop but it has to be connected with an ethernet cable. Also need to make sure its compatible with the disc you get.

I don't think it will be long before they get back to you. Shouldn't take more than a week.

Depends on the time of day as to whether the calls are back to back, and as soon as you close an account after a completed call, you are immediately in ready mode for the next one.

Its a minimum of 20 hours but you can work more if you'd like. I do 35 currently.

And as for bonuses, they are paid once a month. They are dependent on your quality scores for calls, some other metrics, and also your reliability.

If you need to know anything else, just ask. Some of us have been there a long time and are familiar with the whole process.:D

Does the laptop have to have a 17" screen size?

I'm quite excited now, the idea of being able to have a nice hot cup of tea while working, or flip through my study notes if it's quiet... I don't mind being busy and having lots of calls, but nothing worse than being made to just stare at a blank screen when it's quiet, and you're trying to get a ten hr shift in! Also, not having to run around making sure clothes are clean, hair is done and preparing to battle the elements outside will be fun!! I'm going to have to try and curb my enthusiasm a little or it'll be too disappointing if I don't get it!

Is it still fortnightly pay @ £6.00 an hr? How do breaks work, do you get any 5 - 10 min paid breaks?

Duchy how in the heck did you wangle all that time off!! Now very jealous!!!

Pay is currently £6 ph until you get signed off probation when it goes up to £6.20, if you do a 5 hr shift or longer you get a 15 min paid break, also if you're doing a 7hr or longer shift (I think!) you get a 15 min paid break and a half hr unpaid break. You also get 12 minutes of personal time during your shift (ie loo/fag breaks etc)

The calls come through directly. announced by a little noise in your ear and tbh it depends on what day of the week and time of day as to how busy we get. Saturday nights (thanks to X Factor) tends to be a bit quieter although it does vary from day to day. The period just after xmas was VERY busy last year (particularly boxing day) as everyone got a new laptop/smart phone/xbox/ps3 etc etc for xmas and needed a hand setting up the wireless connection - thank goodness I'm off this year!!! lol

There are a few of us who keep an eye on this thread and although some of us happen to be jammy so and so's and have most of the rest of the month off (still no idea how you did that!!!) some of us will still be working :p and can keep you up to date, and as the others have said we'll keep an eye on here anyways :)
  • What about laptops? Do people stick to the 17" minimum screen size?
  • Hi

I am going to be starting with TeleTech very soon after completing all of my interviews ect... :D

I have read through most of the threads and read a lot of info about the working hours ect working at weekends.

Can someone who actually works for TeleTech tell if the shifts that you are scheduled change weekly or fortnightly? Or do they stay the same for the entire time you are working for them.

I don't have a problem working some weekends, but there is no way I could work every Saturday and Sunday evening permenantly.

I would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on this please.

    Many Thanks

How long did it take after completing the match assessment and application form before you got a call for an interview?

Very quickly - everything was pretty much sorted out within 2 weeks...
  • suvari, im in my second day of training, most of the things asked of you in the interview are that you can work any 5 out of 7 days of the week so it could probably be every saturday and sunday if that is the rota you are given. maybe the job isnt for you if you couldnt commit to that. (on the bright side it might only be 4 hours that you would be working them days).

im currently using a 15.4 inch laptop connected to the router via an ethernet cable. i am using a 4 year old toshiba satellite laptop and its working fine, no problems so far.

i did try to use my brand new toshiba satellite and it didnt work at all, the workbooth cd would not boot up.

if the screen size isnt right they might be able to give you cheat codes to run the workbooth cd.
