Mr LW would have ours set at that if he thought for five seconds he'd get away with it; however, despite having waved goodbye to AF in 2009, I am still having horrendous hot flushes, so 21 deg is as warm as I can cope with.Discussion had with son about central heating thermostat setting. 24 deg? Seriously? Instant justification for purchase of internet=enabled controller methinks.
Dailies only done here today; small @ldi shop done, then Mr LW wanted to visit Bletchley Park, so that's all today's spoons well and truly accounted for.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi all
Later start this morning so went off plan and scrubbed the bathroom. Shiny bits polished, bath, sink and loo cleaned, floor washed. However, DS1 and DH have both been in for a shower so I am hoping it still looks clean! Also managed to tidy and swish the utility room and DS loo.
Both paid stuff done (freezing at job no. 2) and gym class. Tired now. Just tidied up the kitchen, might stick a load of washing in.
Oh and despite it being really icy out there DS has gone to see his GF and will need a lift home, hoping DH will do it.0 -
Valli... I've just set my heating to 28'C ... and the Hive system is a pile of poop.. I've had half a dozen receivers, 4 thermostats and 3 hubs.. and it still doens't work.. I cancelled my payments and left it as a manual thing.. utter waste of time and effort and money.
parcels posted
3 ebeast listings done.. praying all 3 sell, I am pretty desperate for the cash right now.. I've not listed anything for over a month because I am simply too busy.. but these are christmas items so can only be sold now really.
TD on.. 2 machines still full of wet stuff but that needs to go on the airer.
3rd solar reading put in in the last 3 months.. they aren't paying out.. I'll ring tomorrow or Thursday depending on when I get time to see why they are being incompetent.. a nice cheque would sit happily in my bank right now.
Off to nag my mother for some money too.. she wants me to do her christmas shopping but hasn't given the money to do the shopping with.. not very helpful!
bed time for the mini-beast I think.. she is getting a bit grumpy and whiny again!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Bliss!! Me too.atypicalblonde wrote: »Would rather lie down in a darkened room alone for a week!
I had to brave it into work today. We still have most of our snow lying and are way too far from the Council's radar to ever get a gritter anywhere close by. We did get a snow plough one year, but not until we had been cut off for a week! Anyway, I put on my big girl pants, and got the car off the drive. I was mighty relieved to get back this evening though.
DH is still off with man-flu....enough said.
Flying has consisted of clearing the mountain of clean clothes from the airing cupboard to their rightful owners. Christmas cards for posting have been dealt with, just the hand delivered ones to go. DD has offered to wrap presents for me, so I have gratefully bitten her hand off for the offer.0 -
mine isn't hive, it's Worcester's own, called Wave and it's working fine (crosses fingers).
Have managed to open petrol cap door - must have been frozen. I did spray it liberally with WD40.
Have ironed.
Yes (Donna?) I *think* it's arthritis, it's tender but not quite the same as when I was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
One week left. Cannot wait.
Thought I was over the tears but I have had two 'goes' today.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Hugs Valli and anyone else needing some
The windows are all fitted and seem to be working okay, though the joinery is pretty sh*t in places. There is a problem with the door to the balcony already. DH opened it yesterday and we struggled to shut it again. I eventually managed to close it, using a bit of persuasion - well brute force actually - by giving it an almighty slam ! Waiting for the weather to warm up a bit before calling in the project chap, as I know it will mean another age with the door open to fix it
Painter came. painted and left yesterday. Not that impressed tbh, but what did they expect doing it in one day. Oh well, hopefully will only be looking at it for another couple of months.
So, in the last two days -
I have managed to use my 'fluff on a stick' to dust all the ceilings, covings, walls, top windows and ceiling lights.
Everything else in the place down to the floor has been dusted, apart from half the spare room, as 'stuff' still piled up in that half, and tops of kitchen units as DH using steps most of the day.
All floors have been hoovered and rugs given a good shake and bang
Bathroom thoroughly cleaned top to bottom
Bathroom cupboard emptied, cleaned out and toiletries put back
Bookshelf and CDs done with hand hoover
DH has managed to put all the curtains back up but only two blinds so far
I'm cream-crackered and have demanded a day off, so we are going to Livingston tomorrow to have a browse and then some food out somewhere.
Spoons and sticks for all needing some
Hope you all staying warm and dry and have a great Wednesday

Oh, Crapsticks. Just remembered I've got a gig tomorrow evening. And now he's back, Himself is going to join in.
'Remind me again, what instruments are we supposed to be playing tomorrow night?'
'Um, guitar and mandolin, I think.'
'How many of each?'
'I'm doing the harmony for the first one on mandolin, so you can do rhythm on guitar on that. Then I'm doing lead mandolin, so you're still on guitar there. Unless there's that creepy weird mandolin guy there, as I'm not going within a mile of him if he decides he wants to join in uninvited, when I'll play guitar instead. Don't you dare clock him one - that mandolin will cost a fortune to get repaired if you snap the neck. I'll batter him with a guitar instead, they're easy to fix.. Next one's mandolin, then I need the guitar for the fingerpicky one, then there's the oom-pah one, which I think I'm playing guitar on. Yes, the Croatian one with the weird timings - yeah, I could play mandolin on that, the chords aren't hard, it's just the timings - or I could borrow a ukulele or guitar for it, can't play whistle on it because a) I'm rubbish and b) it's in the wrong key. Think the last one is the squeezebox one. Yes, the one that say rude things about Conservatives. If it's that much of a problem, we'll just have to swap over onstage a couple of times. [pause] We were both emailed the dots about a month ago. No, that's fine, I'll bounce it back to you now. Are we going to practice at all - oh, thanks, a tea would be lovely. Mmm, good tea. Oh, it'll be fine, I can remember it anyhow. If you stand in front of me, I can tape a chart onto your back for emergencies. No, I am not writing the chords on my boobs for your benefit. Why not? Because you're supposed to be focusing on the chords, not what they're written on, you t*t. Nah, it'll be fine, I'll take the guitar and mandolins into work and go straight from there, you just bring yourself from rehearsal. Hmm, suppose we could theoretically fit bass in there - no, stuff it, already going to feel like the Royal Philharmonic playing in a garden shed walking into the venue as it is. [pause] Yes, that's sorted then. I think. Maybe? Meh, we'll work it out when we're there. It'll be fine. [pause] He's done what? Written another vocal part from yesterday's recording? Okayyyyy - what exactly do you mean I'm going to have to wear girl clothes for that band? [sigh] Yeah, I get it, it's all part of the genre - it's just going to feel weird wearing dresses onstage. Anyway, can we get at least this gig and your rehearsal out the way before talking about this?'
Is it any wonder that we spent most evenings at opposite ends of the house when a brief conversation turns into this sort of logistical nightmare?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I'm with you, we're on 20 deg although at the moment the aga is still on as the Christmas puddings are steaming.
Very relieved I had this bonus 'free day' today:
- went to Mr A
- posted all remaining cards (I hope) and delivered a few local ones.
- finished another report
- got paperwork ready for next 2 days assessments which are the last ones of the year, yippee
- made 2 Christmas puddings (large recipe is difficult to split, so we either have one at New Year or - on one memorable occasion - we did a 'Christmas dinner' at Easter with friends. Long story. Anyway, puddings are steaming until I decide it is bed time then they can cool overnight and go into the freezer tomorrow.
- filled bird feeders
- put up Christmas tree and part decorated.
- rang friend to arrange to do church decs and flowers on Friday, before we shoot down to my brother in Hants.
- yesterday's assessment needs an unusually fast turnaround so it's either that next, or a quick review of 2 I have to discuss with the manager tomorrow.
Pigpen thanks for reminding me, I must read the solar meter tomorrow. Ours usually pay pretty quickly (NP0we*).Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0
