  • Ah Donna we are made of tough stuff up here.

I spoke too soon. It's snowing and there is a warning out for ice even on the A Roads. Both my boys have gone off to play five a side football, 10 miles away, together, in DS1s car. And he only passed his test 6 months ago. I was seriously hoping it would be cancelled.

So I will be fretting for the next couple of hours.

Paid stuff done, off to tidy the kitchen and light the fire I think.

aw (insert string of expletives) my christmas card list is on my old computer. Which is dismantled and in a cupboard.

And I have had a bit of a rough day, not helped by the fact that the container with my cooked chicken was taken to work in actually contained half a raw onion. No wonder I am 'tetchy'

and I cant open my petrol 'door' to fill up, I am hoping it's just frozen.

  • Ended up 'helping out with an admin task' [strike]bailing another department out who can't get their **** together and mark their mock exams in time for the data drop at the end of the week[/strike]. They haven't even finished marking the papers, so I made a point of sending an email after I'd done everything I could explaining the 'anomalies', rather than have them say I didn't help them out as an excuse for not doing it. Doing the same for another department tomorrow - it'll be interesting to see whether they're making a similar excuse for not having it all on the system by now. Was asked what I'd done in a previous life to be punished in such a way, but I actually didn't mind it too much - whilst I would have preferred to be asked whether I was busy first and would have agreed to do it, I was told I was being lent to the department - I got to put my headphones in, sit at a desk by a radiator that worked and get on, oblivious to the arguments about football that were going on around me.

Came home to find out I'm now a singer in a new band and was recording backing vocals within half an hour.

Obviously, no cleaning has been done, but I have takeaway burger. So it's not all bad.

Had a snow day here. It took me 2 attempts to defrost my car. The doors were frozen shut.
Tea mugs sterilised to remove stains.
    Ground floor disowned
    2 loads x wm
Tree put up and decorated (it is looking a little discoloured so may need replacing)
Off to Camhs tomorrow. Hope it won’t be the usual waste of time.

    Evening all.

We are still snowed in - at least, our cars are. We still have about 20cm of snow everywhere, with deep footprints across the lawn to our back gate. The snow is up to Rosie's tummy - she's loving it.

Although yesterday's concerts at Symphony Hall were cancelled, tonight's wasn't, so we risked going into the city by bus and train, which turned out to be a good plan. We had plenty of time for a coffee before the concert started, and were home again by 10.45 (with a taxi back from the station, as our local buses run very infrequently after 7 pm). The concert was great: pity the hall was only half full, despite it being a sell-out. The threatened minus 5 degree temperatures at 9 pm did not materialise in Birmingham, but it was freezing by the time we got home, and it's going down to minus 11 overnight, if the forecast is to be believed :eek::eek: I am definitely not going to college tomorrow - it's only for the carol service - as I refuse to drive on icy roads, even if I could get the car out!

Flying-wise, today I have done 4 loads of washing and a bit of filing, also took Rosie out for an hour and a half. Blue sky, sunshine and snow

Plenty of time to do more of the same tomorrow...er, today :o

Best of luck for the CAMHS visit, dancemum x

Jojo, if only your school knew what amusement they provide, on almost a daily basis, to the Flyladies :p

Hope your DS1+2 got home safely, YorkshireLass.

Tender, sore knee wakes me every time I shift position. Still it gives me chance to run stuff, just loaded WM.

Discussion had with son about central heating thermostat setting. 24 deg? Seriously? Instant justification for purchase of internet=enabled controller methinks.

Morning all. Still very snowy here and Small's school is shut again today. Tiny's preschool, however, is open and the nativity play is going ahead at 11am.

As he has the starring role as the Singing Donkey, DH is making a special effort to get time off work to come and watch lol. I've been asked to come in and help get the littlies ready and man the tea stall, so I will be dragging Small along with me to help. I will look a fright though as our water pipes to the caravan have frozen again, despite us leaving a tap running (it was predicted to be -8° last night) so my hair will have to wait

Zero flying except a whole pile of ironing yesterday but I promise to try harder today!

Will read back to catch up on all the news now xxx
  • This is the second morning I've woken up well before my alarm(s). Ordinarily, I barely manage to drag myself out of bed before I'm supposed to be walking out the door and being in work one minute before my start time is a result.

    What's going on?

  • School is closed today because it's cold. We got there in the snow yesterday and all lived to tell the tale! Oh well, I've booked myself into my hairdressers for a trim and will see if nailshop have any spaces this morning, I can deliver cards while out, nip in mrT for ginger wine and generally get on with stuff.
Will do the lists as well once I'm back.

Hope everyone is well stay warm and safe. X

I have a bit of a reprieve as student rang me to say uni advising them that car park is an ice rink. Couldn't sleep well so was writing cards, shopping list and marked an assessment at 3am. Sunny here but bottled out of tackling gym car park, it was closed yesterday.

    A day of catchup!
