Not a lot done. Carrot soup bubbling for when DH and DD get home from a wet and cold expedition out. Christmas tat needs to be sorted out today once and for all as I am sick of the boxes hanging around already.

Cupboard in the spare room is now full of wrapped presents rather than carp, thanks to Natty's November challenge and DD's wrapping frenzy!

I'm hoping to give myself a kick up the backside this afternoon and get something useful done. Anyone who fancies giving me a push in the right direction, please feel free!

    Have fun with Ronnie, LW.

... he woke me up at about 4.30am asking me if I wanted a cup of camomile tea and 'kisses and cuddles'.

'zzzz....huh? Umm...no thank you. Are you even awake?'

    'Nope'

'Well, get back into bed and stop being a tw*t, then'

    'OK. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ'

    Wonderful!

Sorry you're having a testing day, Piggers.

(Am humanist so am attending 'under sufferance' as she puts it; am supporting ma because I am a dutiful daughter and because I know it gives her a little peace and comfort. Also I am a nice person:cool: and still send Christmas cards because I haven't quite worked that bit out yet.:o)

If I lived in India I'd celebrate Diwali in some way, and if I lived in a Muslim country I'd be more than happy to rein it in a bit during Ramadan by not eating and drinking on the street and then celebrate Eid. In this country I celebrate Christian festivals even though I'm not a churchgoer. It's called good manners, respecting other people's beliefs and cultures, and a lot of fun.

Bathroom and shower-room sparkled, lodger's room turned around because she's working flat out and has tomorrow off, kitchen tidied, washing all put away (hurrah!) and everywhere else tidied. Now I can sew with a clear conscience. Good.
    Better is good enough.

Roundtuit I think I have the brother of your busy buzzy mosquito living here; that sounds exactly how I am most nights.

Ronnie has made himself totally at home (well it is his seventh stay with us). He didn't want much to eat last night, but he's had a decent breakfast this morning. The little chap doesn't eat well when he's away from home, but with patience, he can be persuaded to get some food into him; and his Mum sends little packs of frozen meat pieces to add to his dog food, to tempt him.:o His walk took a while this morning, as he had to stop and check all the local wee-mail. :D He's now curled up on the green chair, on the blanket I keep in the lounge for when I feel unwell and have to lie down.:D

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas :T Tree is up and wearing lights (two bulbs replaced :D ) and tinsel; just waiting for DS to come down and put on all the baubles and bits. We go for the Santa's sneeze effect at this house too - can't remember who said that their tree looked like that, but I love the imagery. Then I'll put the star at the top - no use doing it before that as if you just look at it wrong it falls off :o People who know me well are checking their calendars as my tree usually goes up at the very last minute (think 23rd Dec!!) and they all think they've lost a week somewhere. mwahaha.

I've pulled out all the presents I've bought and checked off who is having what, placing the presents for each household together, with a view to going in to town tomorrow morning for a mooch and to buy any extras that catch my eye. That's my favourite shop of the year: the pressure is off, everyone will already get something but a bottle of wine here and oooh mum likes these there, here a gift, there a gift, everywhere a gift, gift (sorry - cracking up at being so sorted. It's not even the 20th yet or anything!!!!) :A

I need to write a list for tomorrow itemising what I'm doing when: cards to drop off on way to / from town; petrol; drop off prescription repeat request at Surgery; lunch with friend; pay gas bill and rent.

Then all I have to do Christmas-wise is wrap and deliver presents :santa2: in a leisurely manner in between bouts of flying through the week.

Think I'll set that timer and have another MAD x 15 minutes in the kitchen while I'm in the mood.

*walks away muttering 'I must have forgotten something really important but I can't think what !!!!

That's reminded me, I need Mr LW to sit down with the tv pages and mark what he wants recorded this week (we record everything we are going to watch, so as to ff through the ads). I just hope he finds something better than he has the last few weeks - some of the dross I have had to sit through has been just unbelievable!
I don't believe it. I am going to have to sit through Harry S*ddin' Potter. I think I just lost the will to live......

Sorry for not posting much recently. DH has been ill since we came back from London, but - although he had a raging temperature on Friday evening - it seems that paracetamol and an insistence on him staying in bed have averted another bout of pneumonia and, thank goodness, he is now on the mend. The prisoner ate a hearty supper! Tomorrow morning I have to get him to hospital for his appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon, and that is one appointment he definitely didn't want to miss.

I have done a few more things off my own list: WM x???, almost all the cards are written and presents bought (mostly online), Rosie has been collected from kennels and enjoyed her walks yesterday and today despite the general dreariness and sogginess.

I am now hoping to get this annoying [or you may insert another word of your own choosing] placement report written by 9.00 so that I can watch the final of The Apprentice.

See you on the new thread....
