OS daily Monday 15th Oct 07

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 15th oct. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Back to work today, but not until 1pm.
I have to take all the kids to the dentist this morning and then drop them off at school. I need to order a tank full of heating oil :( huge expense.

I also have to start to plan my daughters 18th birthday on Wednesday. I have no idea what to get her... she wants a car or laptop etc :rotfl:

I am cooking a 4 course meal for 7 of her friends instead of a wild party, so that will keep me busy all Wednesday. But it's safer in the long term. I know what teen parties are like, I used to have them. :D

Well folks have a nice day......

Morning N9EAV - hope all your planning goes well for DD's 18th - sounds like you're going to be busy!

I didn't get another chance to come back onto the thread yesterday so I haven't caught up with the news. I did watch the rugby so now we know who England are playing in the final. I think they're going to have their work cut out!

I'm still coughing for England but I think it's easing slowly. I don't feel ill, just tired, and I don't think it's an infection, but will go to the doctor's on Friday if it is no better by then.

Today, because DH is back at work, I have a great long 'to-do' list. I probably won't get it all done but, at least I have written it all down so I'll make a good start on it.

Anyway, off to wake DH up with a cuppa. Will call in later. (((hugs))) to all in need, especially all who are still unwell.

I really can't believe that as I start this I'll be second! Bet by the time I've done it there'll be half a pageful:rotfl:

Still dark here, oh how I detest dark mornings. Must mean winter really is on it's way, although the forecast is good weatherwise I think. So today's plan is the gym in a few minutes (I wouldn't be up at silly o'clock otherwise:o ) then back, shower, then out into the garden to get all sweaty again:D I am determined to go into this winter with a tidy garden. Now stop that giggling at the back, I know I say this every year, but this year I will do it:rolleyes:

Think I'll bung something in the SC for dinner, then I shan't have to worry about packing up too early.

N9eav, don't believe in shopping too early for presents eh?:rotfl: A man after my own heart!

Hope everyone has a good day, and (((hugs)))) to the poorly ones.

    CMx

not too bad then, only mioliere slipped in. Morning!

Off to work in a few minutes roll on next week, it's half term, which means I start at 9 instead of 7:30, woo hoo.
Very little achieved over the weekend what with helping DD with DGS on Saturday when he wasn't well & having him round yesterday when he was better, lol.
N9eav, all my kids got a car for their 18th, well actually they all got the same car on their 18th, an old banger that was passed down from one to the next, once they'd passed their test. It was battered & scratched, so a few more scratches didn't show & it had a top speed of pootle going down hill with a following wind.
    Have a good day all.
    Hugs Hester

Morning to N9eave, mioliere, Churchmouse, harduphester, redruby and those yet to post :)

This is my first post on the daily thread for ages.

I've got a hospital appointment at 8.10 this morning, and I will be in there for a while, so that will be this morning taken up. In the afternoon I'm going to join you, Churchmouse, in doing a ready-for-winter garden tidy up (but I will be working on my garden, sadly thats not an offer of help :D), then I have to go into college for an hour (an hour!!!).

I have to sit down and sort out our household budget today. Our income has gone up a little and I haven't re-done the (tight) budget - I've been over-spending like mad due to 'having a bit extra now'. Thing is, I've been putting it on the credit card and taking it out in cash:wall:, essentially spending it twice over....took a peek at the credit card bill online a moment ago and that balance I worked so hard to get down to zero is starting to creep up again :(

Thinking of making up some hankies today. We have been given a load of old table cloths from a board room - they are huge and a little tatty....we have about 8 of them and with 7 of us in the house there is always someone with a cold over winter, so I thought that getting back into the habit of using hankies rather than tissues could save a small fortune in the long term. I may make some napkins as well, but will have to be sure that they are a different size, don't think I want to get hankies and napkins mixed up :)

Got the first of several washloads on already - my house is starting to look like a laundry, there are clothes hanging all over the place drying. Please can we have a dry, warm and windy day today so that I can put loads out on the line? Off to get the BM on, I have a lod of sunflower seeds to get rid of, so it's seeded bread today!!

    Have a good day :)

Like Kathy this cold is a devil to get rid of and I have had antibiotics as well for the various bits that got infected I would just love a decent nights sleep
I'm still doing battle with the washing I think it's reproducing while it waits to be washed plus I must do the ironing today as that pile is getting bigger
N9eav good luck with planning your dd's dinner party

Amie, are you going to see the pumpkin man at slindon ? he makes a huge display every year and its beautiful, well worth a visit, he made it into the Times last year, not bad for a sleepy little village.
