I've just amazed how people want to gamble loosing £280 for the sake of £30
Yes I know there is a principle, but negotiate first to see if you can get the increase waived. It will be a lot less work!0 -

I don't think anyone is looking at losing £280. More that if they can get a refund then go elsewhere, although I agree trying to negotiate would be the first step as I have done.
I have just received a call from the executive care team and they are going to amend my ongoing bills with a £2.00 monthly credit.
They said they cannot just wipe the increase so are going to bill me for £2.00 then credit me with £2.00, nothing will be taken from my bank account.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my call today. As discussed I have applied a reoccurring credit of £2.00 to your account. This is to counter act the price rise that has occurred on your account. This credit will apply for the duration of your contract.
Thank you for choosing EE.
Kind Regards

Called EE to cancel and the call handler said they'd "just got an email telling them that LRS will be refunded pro rata". Would this have happened if there hadn't been folk willing to argue the toss with them?
Now to sort out my OAP mum who's (for the moment) with EE as, I guess like many older folk, she didn't even know she had an email from them. How much did EE bank on that scenario, along with folk not bothering to move "for the sake of a small increase" or because it's "too difficult"?
Anyway, every cloud and all that... I've got my money back and ended up with a faster provider, better services, free install, 3 months free Sky movies and £50 cashback. All for £5 per month more than EE's best retention offer.:T0 -
I got a letter about it.
Thanks for the info Derek. That's encouraging, I think I will ring them in that case......
Although I have a fairly good deal already0 -

It only happened because Ofcom told all of the providers they had to refund up front line rental when there is a price rise. The providers have done a spotty job of educating their call centre staff.
Getting them to agree that you'll get it refunded pro rata is a start. It took me ages to actually get plus net to refund me & then they got it wrong and it was a further delay before they refunded me the correct amount.0 -
Anyone else want to complain to them this is the email address: - executive.office@ee.co.uk
From EE's T&C's: - http://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/Help-PDFs/ee-home-network-terms-20052015.pdf
.

The terms that are applicable are 2.15.1.2, 9.4 and 9.4.3
(Paragraph 8 gives them the right to increase prices but doesn't mention your rights)
As far as legislation goes OFCOM general conditions 9.3 and 9.6 and the Consumer rights act has superseded the 1979 Unfair terms.0 -

Just wanted to say thank you to derrick for his post. I emailed EE to complain about the £2.00 a month price increase. I received a call back a couple of hours later they said they are are going to bill me for £2.00 then credit me with £2.00 each month to off set the price increase, I did not pay in advance for the line rental.Sealed pot challenge member 4370 -
