They take money from you even after you have left them. I sent them final meter readings plus photographs of my meters and added on information downloaded from my account on their website showing a) how much I had paid since joining
b) how much energy I had used since joining
I then did the sums, using the prices on their website and added on the monthly standing charge. I laid this out as I would for a schoolchild, and informed them that I was not in debit to them and that I would no longer be a customer of theirs after Dec 24th 2018. I requested that if they did not agree with my sums, that they contact me IMMEDIATELY.
Since I heard nothing at all from them, I assumed they were happy with it all. Imagine my shock and fury when I got my bank statement on Saturday and found that they had taken what they describe as an “Initial Payment” from my bank. And not just the amount I had been paying, but DOUBLE! I immediately contacted them and said that either they repay this by Fri 25 Jan or I will take it from their account using a Direct Debit Indemnity. I also sent them copies of my previous emails, informing them I was leaving and when, plus the 3mail containing the photographs and sums.
Well, as expected, I have not heard anything from them and to be honest, I do not expect to. On Friday, I will go to my bank and get my money back. I had enough of being messed about with Economy Energy (who still owe me nearly £200!) and do not intend to let this greedy uncaring company keep money I so badly need, living as I do solely on sickness benefit.
Anyone thinking of joining BE WARNED!! STAY AWAY!!0 -
I left them for British Gas on 18th December last year and was substantially in credit. Despite British Gas having supplied them with the initial readings at the time of switching, they deny having received them. However, despite refusing to raise a final bill, they continue to make up fictitious readings for services they don't even supply. I'm now shown as in debt to them and I wonder how this will be resolved? I would also add that on the many occasions I've switched in the past, the previous supplier has simply frozen the account until a final bill was raised.0

well I,m no longer a oftm customer. this morning I received my final bill (waited 9wks).I had cancelled my dd due to the pricing fiasco, this is some sort of record as I usually stay with suppliers a full year!..not just over 2 months, oftm did not charge me a penalty for cancelling dd which seems to be a worry for a lot of people.the final billing and payment by phone was carried out in a pleasant manner. at the end of my online chat I was asked to leave feedback on trustpilot,if only oftm had stuck to its original sign up terms and prices all of the uproar could have been avoided,i will leave a further review advising staff where pleasant and helpful at time of departure.0

You can still access your OFTM account and verify that they still have your bank details, I got my credit yesterday paid into my account by Bacs.0

Shame they can't just look at my account and refund the majority over payment in the meantime.
I'll just wait
That time scale is almost the same as Scottish Power which in its "Goodbye Cycle" quotes up to 6 weeks to produce the final bill and up to a further 3 weeks to refund credit and close the account after a switch is complete.
As I have posted in another thread, it appears that Outfox customers unreasonably want it all sorted out instantly. Nice to have but not workable. It makes me wonder whether what is posted about Outfox is actually true.
I quote Scottish Power because I switched from them just a month ago.0 -
TransmitThis wrote: »Probably shouldn't use my posts to further your agenda in that regard Anthorn, as they took 400% more out of my bank than my monthly bill is/was, and they took this out "after" I had left and when my account was in credit.
My Feedback for them would be. not recommended at all.
They increased the admittedly variable tariff monthly and the standing charge (club membership) as well as being rather incompetent when deciding how to handle increased winter usage.
It got almost comically silly.
I just had to leave even if just so I didn't have to look at that idiotic cartoon character, or update my spreadsheet weekly for every Kw/h increase.
There is obviously bios in a forum asking for feedback, as people with an axe would be more motivated to post. still I'd stand by my feedback that they are incredibly incompetent gaggle of unprofessionals .
(Best Supplier I've had has been Bulb - who I may return to now Peoples Energy are more expensive)
Mostly unrelated to my post.
If I was to condense all my posts about Outfox in two threads into a single question that question would be:
Why is it right and proper for most energy suppliers but not right and proper when Outfox do exactly the same thing?
I'll qualify the above question by recognising for example that Outfox were quite savagely criticised for increasing the prices on their variable tariffs when other energy companies were doing exactly that!0 -
I KNEW OTM did not want to refund my money! This is the email they sent me. What is the use of taking photographs and doing sums on figures from their own website when I receive absolutrrunpbbish like this. It’s exactly -almost tothe word- excuse I got from Economy Energy! Beware. I am certain this lot will go bust before the end of February!
Good morning,
Thank you for your email. I do apologise for the delayed response.
Your new supplier will send us your readings once you have switched away. On the way, the readings go through the electricity and gas industries to be validated. Your old supplier can take up to 4 - 6 weeks to produce their final bill, if you haven’t received it after this time, please get in touch. Once the final bill has been produced we will then refund any credit on the account.
Kind Regards,0 -
Do what I intend to do tomorrow. Go to your bank and get a Direct Debit Indemnity. I did that for Economy Energy before they went bust. Then cancel the Firect Debit, and ask your bank for a confirmation printout of the DD cancellation. It needs to be done quickly, as I do not see OTM lasting beyond the end of February!0
