A word of warning to anyone who switched to them a while ago.  Keep checking that you are on the best tariff!

I switched to OTM from Ovo in October, and saved £90 a year on what I had been paying Ovo for the last two years on their fixed rate tariff.  Checked with MSE CEC last month and found I could save £38 a year by switching from the variable tariff to their Fixed 20 2.0 tariff.

Checked again yesterday, and found I could save another £30 a year by switching to the Fixed 20 4.0 tariff.

All it took to switch tariffs was a four minute phone call.

I had my notification threshold in CEC set to £50.  I've changed this to £25 now.  I've never needed to check that I'm on the best deal so often, but it is well worth doing.

I'll be contacting OTM next month to try and reduce my DD.  I'll report back on how that goes, as that seems to be the area they are worst at!

I've just been declined a refund on my account which is £150 in credit. The dd is set at £51 while I'm averaging £32 usage. I was happy to let it mount up in case they have cashflow problems but did expect it to be refunded on request. It's not a problem for me but for anyone with limited funds I think this company may be one to steer clear of.

We have twice had our credit refunded from Outfox. We did have to chase them up several times but we did get it back eventually. I'd ask them again for a refund.
Thank you for this, I've contacted them again to request a refund and to lower the dd.

Some worrying news from Ofgem about Outfox the Market this morning:
Ofgem orders Outfox the Market to make Feed-in Tariffs payment
    Publication date: 11th February 2020
    Information type: Press releases
    Policy area: Enforcement
Ofgem is issuing Outfox the Market (Foxglove Energy Supply Ltd) with a provisional order, compelling the supplier to pay £602,930 in full for the Feed-in Tariffs (FIT) scheme by Wednesday 12 February 2020.

The FIT scheme, which is administered by Ofgem, provides payments to owners of small-scale renewable generators and is funded through levies on suppliers.

Any supplier who fails to pay its Levelisation Payment by the deadline will be in breach of Electricity Supply Standard Licence Condition (“SLC”) 33.

Outfox the Market has told Ofgem that it will not make its upcoming FIT payment by 12 February 2020 for Year 10, Quarter 3 of the scheme. Therefore, Ofgem believes that Outfox the Market is likely to contravene SLC 33.

If Outfox the Market fails to comply, it could end up in having its licenced revoked and Ofgem may open a formal investigation into the potential non-compliance, which could result in the supplier paying a penalty.

    Notes to editors:

Foxglove Energy Supply Ltd is the holder of an electricity supply licence. Foxglove Energy Supply Ltd trade under the name of Outfox the Market.

The Feed in Tariffs scheme is a government programme designed to promote the uptake of smaller scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation. It requires participating electricity suppliers to make payments on both generation and export from eligible installations. Ofgem administers the scheme on behalf of government. More information is here: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environmental-programmes/fit/about-fit-scheme
SLC 33 stipulates that all licensed electricity suppliers that have supplied electricity in Great Britain, within the relevant FIT year or quarter are obligated to participate in the FIT levelisation process. They have to declare the amount of electricity they have supplied and make a financial contribution towards the scheme in proportion to this.

  • They've also got £875k capacity market bill outstanding which was due in November.
Bit of a shame that they've actively been improving their customer service, just shows they've been priced too cheap.
  • I switched to Outfox the Market (OTM) from Utilita (whom Ofgem assigned following Eversmart Energy going belly up).  The switch happened in Oct 19 - there were problems with the electricity switch - something to do with the overall system not allowing switches too close together & the Ofgem assignment of Utilita was classified as a switch). Did not have the same problem with the gas. OTM kept me fully informed via e-mail and a phone-call & persevered until it was successful (thank goodness as have only just received an invoice from Utilita - for the couple of weeks I was with them, very very expensive).  OTM have since introduced a cheaper tariff which I asked to be switched to and they did that straight away.  Easy to use website & phone answered quickly.  I had read the bad reviews they’ve had in the past, but my experience switching to OTM has been completely positive.  I am very impressed with OTM - well done & keep up the great work.

Call me cynical, but this is your first post.

It would be nice to think a leopard could change his spots, but .......

Always a good idea to be a little sceptical when people's first posts are praising or criticising a company.  We have examples of both in this thread.

OFGEM  are VERY VERY SLOW in enacting their so called final order. Gnergy failed to make their final order deadline payment by 31 Oct 2019. Then in January OFGEM make another "order" that Gnergy have until April 2020 - only then would they then consider revoking the license - for which OFGEM need to give 30 days notice.  Using this example, I dont think OTM are going to fold too soon, certainly not today (deadline day).

At last received an email to say I will receive the overpayment on the 17th and a couple of days ago a different dept. said they would reduce my dd. If at first you don't succeed.....

    Thank you Berwynview 🙌
  • Today had a really positive experience with Outfox the Market who I have recently switched back to from Peoples Energy, having been with OTM two years ago and switched away from them to a cheaper option. Having reviewed my energy rates courtesy of MoneySavingExpert last month, I switched to OFM's FIX'D 20 2.0, but today, having updated my details with MSE, I discovered a cheaper OFM option - FIX'D 20 4.0 - which would save me another £25 a year. I contacted OFM online and they confirmed the cheaper option and changed me onto the cheaper rates immediately as soon as I requested them to do so. Clearly using their 'online chat' is by far the most reliable way of contacting them rather than emailing them (takes two days to get a reply) or even phoning them, and can lead to instant results. Full marks to OFM for getting that right - perhaps they are learning the lesson of how important good customer service is.
