That sounds like a very positive activity Pauline, cleaning up the beach

Don't let the shops ruin Christmas for you, they're the ones who commercialise it. For me Christmas is mainly about being with the ones you love. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

So... went missing again although I have been reading around the debt free diaries board.
I didn't manage the Christmas market and lunch. The thought made me feel so anxious that I couldn't leave the house. Luckily my new friend here in Spain is absolutely fantastic and understanding.
So MSE things:
I finally put up the extending rail for the curtains to go at the bottom of the stairs to prevent any heat going up the stairs. It is beside the point that I did it at 2am!!
I've also cut down the portion sizes again to help the diet. Unfortunately my detailed freezer and menu plan list has had to be binned because I managed to spill lemonade all over it. Picture the scene if you will - I open a bottle of what I think is water that is actually diet lemonade and the bottle explodes water all over the kitchen counter, floor and me too. And then would you believe, a couple of hours later I did exactly the same with the second bottle! I guess it takes more than one oops to learn a lesson for me.
Yesterday I did go to a Christmas Fayre/Sale for a local charity. My word, I have never met better bargains. I eventually ended up buying a posh black beaded dress, an everyday dress, a skirt (beautiful but unfortunately much too small for me ever), a small handbag and a pair of brand new black satin and sequin shoes. All for 24 euros!!!!
The posh dress and shoes combo cost 10 euro. I am hoping to have at least one night out whilst I am back in the UK - well I am really hoping I can manage.
Honestly I can't describe the bargains. We arrived about 90 minutes after it opened but there were still some amazing items there. Apparently it is a well known event. It wasn't too busy but everyone was buying lots and there were lots of smiles so the atmosphere was brilliant. Wow, the range of bargains with the most costly at 10euros.
Then we went off to the Samaritans Fayre and spent some time there too. Had a drink in the sun. Yes, after the wettest November in Alicante, the sun has returned.
So today has been spent hibernating after my travels yesterday. I have to have my quiet day after being out. Watching Christmas movies as a treat too.
Take care everyone, thanks for reading

Just popping by to say hello and that I hope you get to wear your beautiful bargains at some point0

Seriously most of the clothes were in such good condition that they can only have been worn a couple of times at the very most. Half the shoes were brand new. I don't know where they sourced the items but they were very successful.
If I was a 12/14 I would have spent at least 100 euros!!
Surprisingly enough I still didn't go over my budget for the week. Having a cash weekly budget has really worked for me. I even suggested to my friend that we should go home rather than have lunch out although we had a drink in the sun.
I am watching Gun No 6 and feeling very very sad. It is truly frightening. This type of life is just so alien to most people.
So goodnight from Spain

Hi HHD and Cherry
I hope to go to a New Year's Eve do with my friend down in Leicester so I need to practise with my new shoes as they have heels and I have only been wearing sandals for months.
My new friend in Spain is wonderful. She is just the perfect person to have around. She doesn't push me when I am struggling which really helps. She is good company and now I find she knows many places for bargains.
It's now 3.15am here and I am still dreading going to bed. I go through phases of terrible nightmares and they really disturb me. I can't remember a time without them unfortunately. My logical self says go to bed but the wibbly-wobbly side says stay awake! Guess which is winning.
Have a great week everyone, thanks for stopping by
