Lovely to hear from you Pauline! Please send us some sun, it's bitter over here... are you looking after your friend's house, then?
You've made me want luscious full fat yogurt.I'm glad the diet is helping.

A post two days in a row!
Went out for a walk about 10pm and it was just right for walking however my friend lives on a big hill so it has put me off a bit. I have walked to the local shops but it was too far in the heat, I don't have that excuse any more. Now it's a bit chilly to swim I need to up other exercise.
Yes, I am house sitting. The house is lovely and full of everything I could possibly want or need. I made a list of foods around and now have a menu plan. I still hate wasting food so I'll have to remember to curtail my buys.
The full fat yogurt, sparkling water and butter is going against all my previous diets but the taste definitely makes up for the smaller portions.
Now I have a confession to make. After I dropped my friend at the airport I returned and sort out all the goodies stashed around the house. Maltesers, part bar of chocolate etc. They went very quickly! Cakes, billinis and other goodies I didn't fancy went to a neighbours children and the house is now bad treat food free.
I have found my liking for jacket potatoes again and bought a huge bag for some budget friendly meals. I made a sausage casserole of one sausage, onions, garlic, sweet corn, peas, passata and paprika last night which really hit the spot, delicious! I'm going to do the same type of sauce tonight just with chicken instead.
I'm off to the beach once I have prepped my meal. I like walking but it is so much easier when I have something to look at. I even managed a swim in the sea last week. We saw the Spanish air display team rehearsing which must have lasted at least three quarters of an hour.
So that's it from an overcast Costa Blanca.
Take care

So.... I have managed to lose 16lb in five weeks thanks to my mindful eating and ditching the artificial sweeteners etc. I can't actually see any difference myself and in all honesty, I don't feel any better either but I think that is down to the changeable weather here.
The freezer is still pretty full so the only things I need will be fruit, milk and some salad so another cheap week. I went out for a curry last week and even returned with a doggy bag as I didn't feel I needed it all. Today I added a heap of vegetables and basically a free meal. I am doing well with the meal plans but the exercise isn't going well.
I have nearly seven weeks till Christmas and I am hoping to really surprise my mum when I return for Christmas. I'll be cooking Christmas lunch as I actually enjoy it and of course gives me the opportunity to duck out if I start feeling overwhelmed.
The Aldis and Lidls over here are full of the most gorgeous looking treats for the festive season. It did occur to me to buy some - of course for eating over the Christmas period!! but who am I kidding? - so I looked, admired and left them on the shelf. I may take a few bits back with me but I am planning to do an on-line grocery order to be delivered to mums to avoid the supermarket crush. Even typing that makes me feel sick and overwhelmed.
Tomorrow I am off to the post office to collect my new sim. I have never experienced a SIM malfunction before but it has proved to be a real pain. I am also going to have a wander around the local market too so I get my exercise without really thinking about it.
I also need an expanding curtain rail to fit at the bottom of the stairs. I haven't used the fire yet but when I do, I'd like the heat to stay downstairs rather than disappear up the stairs. I have been given a big curtain so it will be a definite MSE action.
Enough from me, take care everyone
Pauline

Well done for fantastic weight loss!
Spain sounds lovely: if you have a step counter (I don't remember, sorry), perhaps you could post your step totals here as a way of keeping the exercise motivation going.
I'm sorry the thought of the supermarket shop is so stressful for you. Doing an online shop should save you from the worst of it. All I can suggest is plan it all out and see what stages you can cut out. I'm not suggesting beans on toast for Christmas dinner unless that's your thing, but it tends to be such a big meal that I for one eat more than I'm comfortable with. You can cheat and fill the freezer with pre-prepped things too, and call it a present to yourself. I do think all these months of living abroad will have boosted your resilience though, and you will cope amazingly.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
