Yategirl how did you make the topping for your chocolate cake?I always end up either icing or buttercreaming mine so new suggestions would be most welcome

100g chocolate, 1oz butter, 6oz icing sugar and 4tblsp water - all in a glass/metal bowl over a pan of simmering water. Beat together gently until all blended together. Then take off the pan and leave to cool slightly. When cake has cooled, spread over and leave to set - in fridge is best. Yesterday I used it to top 20 cupcakes, today I did the cake as a traybake but the cake could have done with being a tad bigger as the icing is all down the sides :D

    I really enjoyed it :T
I'm still trying to tease the glitter and glue out of my hair, clothes and underwear...don't ask  and my nails have a ton of saltdough under them but it went really well and they've ask me to 'volunteer' permanently  ...a scary thought but having said that DS3 is probably the worst there..all the rest were a piece of cake compared :rotfl:
He was invested tonight and earned his first badge *proud mummy beam* :T
He is now officially an artist  and told Nan he got his timebobble (tie and woggle) tonight :rotfl:

No, it's years since I made shortbread, so I'm going to try one of these

I thought it would be good to make some christmas shapes, and they can be dipped in melted chocolate if you want to make the fun last.

What about chocolate crispy cakes too? They're good to make nests from at easter, with some little chocolate eggs added.

    :o *Gadget Alert*...:o

    Guess what :rotfl: ......

I have this really cool set of 12 stars in different sizes which you make as shortbread then stack...comes out like a xmas tree shape i.e. large at bottom and small at top and you turn each star so the points are sticking out between the points of the one below..will take a pic when I do it nearer to xmas which reminds me got to dig out the gingerbread house templates I know they're around here somewhere

Thats such a HUGE acheivement you are quite rightly proud :D A really good sign, once DS3 realised 'what was going on' he progressed quite quickly with things during the day he was probably 6 when he stopped wearing them in the day (we have inc.sheets on for the night)He still doesn't do things properly but its progress :D

How things been without the car today? I was thinking of you as it hammered down here off and on most of the day..I got drenched

:rotfl: Lesley a 'not quite big enough' one is probably the answer :rotfl: i think these were end of season cheapo's from betterware and the bonus is they stack inside each other :D
My boys are worse cluttermonkeys than me  the good thing about the house is its on 3 floors and although the rooms on the lower 2 floors are very small the top floor only contains the younger 2's room and its huge!!
    Approx 25 feet by 15 feet :D
