morning...
Yategirl: good luck with the onion marmalade.. don't forget to let us know how it goes!
Jamiedodger: its going to rain on and off all day so yeah. Get out to the post office while you can.. the kind of day where you want to stay inside and drink soup, really!!!
Today i've got to go out.. its Sinterklaas (Feast of St Nicholas, big thing in the Netherlands, and OH is dutch), and i promised him a meat Bukhit (see here for explanation - the last photo!). so got to see if i can get some cheaper cooked meat from one of those places that do lots of it (Gabbotts, up here in Manchester), go to the post office to send off a bunch of post and pay some bills, do a bit of shopping, make some bread, brandy the christmas cakes, and check on, possibly decant, the sloe gin and damson gin. Should be fun! Also going to pop into the local butchers, see if he's doing turkey again this year. I get just the right sized turkey for my oven from him every year, so it works well. Its a nice turkey too, gives me giblets n all. Last year i got a turkey (with about 3 sets of giblets, lol), a huge leg of lamb, sausagemeat for stuffing and some extra thick, extra wide, extra fatty streaky bacon (for the top of the turkey) for about £40, which i think is pretty good going.
And at some point i need to reboil the onion marmalade and reboil the strawberry preserve (which is a bit liquid), and label all the jars.... must get that done. Will feel better about christmas once that is done, i'm sure..

Good afternoon, finally caught up with this thread after finding it ages ago! I'm so excited my panny arrived today,:j only had a rubbish breadmaker before that quickly died and so was doing it by hand, nice but takes a lot of time! Nobody I know seems to be very excited about my new arrival  , so I thought all of you might be! I'm desperate to try it out, but need more flour, can't think where it all goes, I was asked if I was doing a salt dough stall for Chrimbo when I last bought my usual amount! Got to wait in for ds's pressie to be delivered, meant to be here by 1 o'clock, we shall see! Only downside of bargain hunting for Chrimbo pressies on the net is waiting around for deliveries! Need to get out to get this flour, also to completely restock freezer in garage, bribed ds to clean it out for me so we're all ready for all the batch cooking I'm planning, now that my slow cooker has been replaced, oh melted the lead on it somehow! Seems like all I've done recently has been spend money on cooking things, still I do use my slow cooker a lot, and it was reduced in Argos
. It's about to be filled with mince and toms and herbs and stuff so that I can make lots of bol sauce, will need to cool and freeze it before the hoards get home and start dipping spoons into it, else once again there'll be nothing left - yes my lot really can eat a 6.5 litre slow cooker full of stuff and then ask for dinner! Hope the delivery man arrives in a mo!
