    Just checking in....

Decided to turn the spinach and ricotta into a braid instead of lasagne, we had it with tomato soup and it was lovely! We made 2 and OH took some for lunch the next day and DS and I had some for lunch too.

Dinner tonight was HM chicken curry & rice.

Haven't really done much else as work has pretty much taken over my life (as well as having a baby and a toddler to look after!) That's the only problem with working from home, you can't leave your work at work!

We've also had big problems with OH's boss. He told everyone individually on Wednesday that he couldn't afford to pay them and that he had had to set up an IVA because he was in so much debt. I don't get paid until the end of December so it looks as if we might have to take him to an employment tribunal to recover OH's wages from this week. Just as I thought everything was looking up! He is due to be paid tomorrow and has made it very clear that we are relying on that money. If he can't come up with the cash (no way are we trusting a cheque from him at the moment!) tomorrow then he has until Monday morning before we send a letter of grievance, if nothing gets resolved after that then we will be starting legal proceedings with the help of the CAB. So not what we need right now! I think OH will walk out of there and not go back if he doesn't get the money on Monday morning - no point working for free when he could spend that time looking for another job.

I've spent a few hours today calling joinery companies in the area to see if they have any job vacancies for him as this is the final straw
No luck yet though, got a big list of numbers to try tomorrow though.

Hope everyone is well and I'm looking forward to doing lots of baking over the weekend!

D&DD - those buns look yummy - and i am so making jam next year!! We seem to go through it like theres no tomorrow so i think a homemade supply would be good. ANy tips on the best way to do it?? so i know in advance

JENAGAIN - hope your hubby gets paid today chick, i know what its like with financial issues especially at chrismtas - my bf woke up blind last october for no explainable reason and he ahd to leave his job so it was me supporting the 3 of us, tax credits messed up and we were SKINT! but things will be ok, ill keep my fingers crossed for you.

Im up nice nad early as both my boys have flu - bens been sniffling, sneezing and coughing his guts up all night but nothing a nice warm bath, dose of tixie lixs and some olbas oil didnt mend for a bit. I know my hot water got mended yesterday so first hing me and ben did was wait impatiently for an hour and then dive in a bath togahter (bens my 3 year old for those who have forgotten not the bf!! :p ) and it was a fight as he was mummy i want a bath and i was determined to get he first one so we settled and had a bath together.:o

And bf has man flu. hes a burk - told him earlier as he was getting out of bed that there was day nurse int eh cupboard, so he went out the bedroom, i got up cos i could hear ben, saw bf and said was he ok - hed jsut opened the bottle of beechams and taken a swig!!!  not measured it out. So hes gone off to work now witha dodgy stomach!

Mission for today - bf left me £5 because hes not sure if he gets paid today or not. (was either midnight last ngiht or midnight tonight) and ben needed nappies so ive decided to jump on a bus in a bit and go to tesco (will cost me £2.45 for a return ticket) and then i can use me tescos vouchers (£10) to stock us up on bits and bobs until i find out if he was paid or not.

Apart form that i will be writing out my reindeer cards today and wrapping my elf gifts (have i explained that to you all yet?? - cant remember)

so a good day for me - might actualy get soem cleaning done too seeign as i now have hot water!!!

    love

Just got back from DS3's assembly  Well good news is he did it ...albeit head under his LSA's armpit for most of the time :rotfl:Think he was a squirrel but it was a bit hard to tell as I couldn't see his head!!!
Better than last year when they cast him as Joseph   and he refused to do anything and sat with his back to everyone for the duration...ho hum..

Have the other 2 off today for inset day,DS2 is off swimming/mates house, but eldest is up for some cooking experiments so thats good :D
I should have made a list what needed using up but will have to make do with a rummage round instead..*I find lists really helpful as I'm sooo disorganized otherwise..*
Hope everyone has a good day :D
  • Wow everyone is so productive on the cooking front. Love seeing the pics. Will have to learn how to do the pics thing.

The iced buns are now going to be our Friday treat. I think I'll pop a few sultanas and spice in the dough instead of jam, as I know DS2 loves them like that. Yours looked so professional D&DD.

Jen - hope your OH gets something sorted. Money worries are the pits and its unsettling for him workwise. Nice to be in a stable job.

Well I had a bash at getting inventive with my muffins yesterday and made lime marmalade and chocolate ones. Total disaster and ended up binning them. Hate seeing food wasted, particualarly when there isn't much in the cupboards at the moment. Nevermind, I have my iced bun backup for today. :D

In the spirit of this thread, I'm trying to eat from my cupboards and freezer until I get more money on Thursday so I've found:

6 chicken thighs (chicken stew and dumplings tonight)
8 sausages (toad in the hole with roasties sunday)
2 cooked chicken breasts (chicken pilaff Saturday)
10 fishfingers (mash & beans Monday)
2 meat & potato pies (lads can have HM pizza Tuesday)
Tin meatballs (lad can have with chips, DH & I HM cheese & onion pie Wed)

Thursday will have to be jackets with cheese or egg & chips because nothing left other than that unless I can get inventive with those ingredients. Omelette would be my choice but lads won't touch them.

Oh well, made it to pay day. Breakfasts will be cereal while it lasts and then toast, boiled egg maybe. Lunches will be HM soup from freezer, marmite or beans on toast.

    Relief, thats sorted then!:D

jenagain - what a worring time for u . i hope ur other half does get paid and i hope he finds another job quickly.

i'm gonna put in some apple braid dough in the bm to make some iced fingers.

i don't have any icing thingy so wondering how i can get some jam in there. not sure yet , but working on a plan.

i made a lasagne at 9 this morning ready for dinner tonight , and i plan to make some garlic bread later as well to go with it.

really wish i had a donut maker today tho , as i really fancy them.

ooohhh i forgot , yesterday on price drop tv they had a 4 in 1 cooker. it stemed , deep fried , roast and slow cooked. it priced dropped to 9.99. so i bought it. if it does turn out to be really really good , then i might give my mum my slow cooker cause i won't need 2.
