! Where does everyone else keep all their stockpiled stuff?

lol your lucky - i dont have any stairs to store stuff under (i live in a ground floor flat!) but i have soem boxes under my bed that are currently empty so might clean them out later and get some bits ot put in them as an emergency back up. Plus i have a cupboard in my bathroom whihc has a shelf that is jsut toilet roll (ok the mr t value 12pack stuff but hey its toilet roll) and we have as tock of it - waitign for shampoo that we use to go back on sale and the handwash on bogof and will stock up on these too. plus i watch for sanitary towels on bogof too and stock up on these - im the only girl int he house so its only me who uses them - these are stored on teh top ledge which is wide enough to squidge a pack of sanitary towels though and not alot else! maybe toothpaste which reminds me i need that too.

Apart form that i dont have anywhere i else i have two cupboards in the kitchen that i can store food in, on top of them, one is for the dog food and pans etc and the other is full of tupperware and food boxes.
I do have one cupboard that is being neglected at the minute as there is mould and junk in it and i havent gotten round to sorting through it and cleanign it yet - think if i do this i will have two more shelves that i can fill with food so may do this soon if not today.
Also have two collapseable stackable boxes in the kitchen too - one has potatoes and onions in at the minute and the other is full of washing. lol
    Time to find me again

I got my teflon sheets from poundland if that helps any and they still have them in stock as I got another couple the other day

Well just back from a mammoth shopping spree.Three supermarkets in one morning:eek: Morrisons for puff pastry (1/2 price packs),Douwe Egberts(BOGOF),Apple Juice(Half Price),Sanitary Pads(2 for £2) also they have half price Country Life spreadable so got a fair few tubs of that too.Tesco I got 2kg mince for £5 not great but good enough for burgers and meatballs,Cravendale milk as I had a voucher, and shame of shames tinned custard.Hubby will only eat Ambrosia custard and at 75p a tin normally I refused to buy it well it was half price today so I relented and bought twelve cans:eek:

As for storage of my stockpiles I'm lucky to have two freezers a huge fridge, pantry and loads of kitchen cupboards to put it all in.But its still doesnt all fit  But I dont care I need the stockpile as the prices are ridiculous at the moment

hi, just thought i'd catch up on here whilst i have a cuppa. i put a bacon joint on to boil about an hour ago, went to check it a few mins ago, and i'd only gone and left the flippin plastic on it :rotfl:not the MAIN plastic bit, i'm not that daft ( hey, stop laughing at the back there!!) it was the tight bit of plastic that goes round the outside edge. still its off now, no harm done ;)

got a pastryless quiche in the oven, thats going in the freezer as soon as its cold enough, and i've done a batch of choc chip muffins.

so apart from slicing the bacon joint when its cooked, and putting it in bags in the freezer, thats my baking done for the day

Gonna have an easy tea, as DD17's at a friends after college, so its only me and DS15. think we're just gonna have some salad, jacket potato, and some of the sliced bacon joint

hope everyones having a good day xx

Would you mind posting the recipes for the no pastry quiche and your pies please. I really shouldn't read these types of posts when I'm hungry.:D

    Thanks.

the pastryless quiche is DEAD easy. just put a 300g tub of cottage cheese in a jug and mix it with 6 eggs and a splash of milk. add salt&pepper. then in a quiche dish, you can put some corn beef slices, or slices of ham, a few onion rings if you like them.

then i just pour the eggy mixture over, slice a tomato and put that on the top. then bake it about 160 for about 40-50mins till it feels firm to the touch. dead easy, and not very fattening either cos theres no pastry :D

Hello everyone! I'm a bit newer to the board than many of you...have been a 'lurker' in the background for some time and this is only my second post! Had a long leisurely afternoon today. I came across this thread and read it from beginning to end. I couldn't wait to read the next instalment...I have found it a wonderful and 'warm' thread (if that's the right word!); it's as though I've really got to know some of you on this journey. In the last few pages (can I be a bit forward and cheeky here?) I noticed D&DD was 'missing'; it's good to see you back and things are going better for you. Now, I'm no domestic goddess but am feeling very inspired by all your posts and fab. recipes! I think my girls will like having a go at some of those. Reading it all took me back to October and the strike then (yep, OH in the same job). I feel I have learned a lot from just reading it all today! I felt almost breathless at what some of you pack in a day, as well as saving money and eeking it out a bit more! Thank you all. Hope this isn't too much off topic to be posted...I sometimes do go off a bit, so to speak, which is another skill I need to learn!! Any volunteers?

    Hello all

Here's a recipe for the only soup my DS1 (he's 4) will eat without arguments. It is known in our house as green soup but I think it's more commonly known as potato, leek & spinach soup! This is really nice with thickly buttered crusty bread and we eat it for lunch at the weekends or for tea during the week.

    Couple of onions, chopped
    2 x sticks celery, chopped
    2 x cloves garlic, chopped/crushed
    4 x leeks, chopped
Couple largeish potatoes, peeled & chopped into cubes
2 pints stock, I use vegetable
Bayleaf (I sometimes forget about adding this and soup is still nice)
Bag baby spinach leaves (225g approx)

Put some oil in a large saucepan over a low heat (I tend to use 2 tbsp olive oil & knob of butter)
Add onion, celery & garlic, stir, put lid on pan and cook for 5 mins (stir now and again)
Add leek, stir, put lid back on and cook for another 5 mins, stirring now and again. Try not to let the leek brown
Add potato, stock & bay leaf
Turn up heat, bring to boil, reduce heat to low and cook for 20-25 mins (I leave lid on but at an angle so some steam can escape_
Take pan off heat, remove bayleaf and blend soup to smooth consistency
Add spinch leaves and blend again
Put pan back on heat and warm soup
Pour into bowls, eat and enjoy

Very nice sprinkled with chopped chives or croutons or both...!
