I'm going to try those millies cookies tommorrow.
Can I ask about the pie makers, how many do they make, are they easy, and can you do sweet and savoury fillings? Thanks in advance.:DGrippy is my middle name!0 -
Not to be confused with bread and butter pud ,this is more of a cake very christmas pud like in taste and texture (works best with old bread)
Bread Pudding
225g Bread
150g mixed fruit
50g brown sugar
50g suet
1 tsp mixed spice
1 egg
Soak the bread in about half a pint of water for a couple of minutes then place in a sieve over a bowl and press gently to remove as much water as possible then place in a bowl and beat all the other ingredients in
Bake at gas 5 until set and golden serve hot with custard or cold as a cake

I dont have a pie maker but the pampered chef cut and seal is good for making individual pies. you use the pastry you have, stick in a filling, cut and put them in the oven.Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0

Oh great to see everyone back on here. The recipes, sound fab as ever and the bread and butter pud is one of my favs, have you tried it with hot cross buns or teacakes? absolutely lush mmmm ( am on diet at mo and will restrain myself for a couple of weeks)
Hope everyone is ok. BobxBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Hi, I've just sort of stumbled across this thread and it's fab. I've scribbled down several recipes to try next week - as a thank you, here's one from me...
Macaroni Cheese (I know everyone knows how to make this but try this version, it is absoutely delicious and one of the only meals I can guarentee DS1 will eat without moaning!)
265g dried macaroni
175g cheddar cheese, grated
50g gruyere cheese, grated
50g parmesan, grated
11/4 pints milk (I use whole milk)
50g plain flour minus 1 tsp
50g butter
1-2 tsp Dijon mustard
Black pepper
50g breadcrumbs (approx 2 slices minus crusts, works best with white bread)
Optional: chopped ham, sliced tomatoes
* Cook macaroni
* Meanwhile melt butter in pan, add flour and stir in for 1 minute
* Heat milk in microwave and add gradually to butter, flour. Stir all time
* Cook sauce for 4-5 minutes until sauce and thickened
* Take sauce off heat and add 150g of the cheddar, all the Gruyere and two-thirds of the Parmesan
* When cheeses melted into sauce add mustard and pepper to taste (if sauce too thick add bit more milk)
* Mix remaining cheddar and parmesan into the breadcrumbs
* Drain cooked pasta, put into ovenproof dish and add sauce
* Mix well, add in chopped ham if using
* Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture over top and add sliced tomatoes if using
* Bake at 200 degrees in oven for approx 20-25 mins until golden on top
* Leave to cool for 5 mins before serving
* Enjoy!!!
Think this originally came from an old copy of Good Food magazine. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

grease and then flour? no... I haven't... but I will do with the next cake!
so... why does that work?? it is soaking up the extra grease which is what cause the cake to stick??0
