Hi Donna - I use stale bread to make bruscetta - toast or griddle then rub with garlic! Kids like doing this! Can serve with anything you'd normally serve with garlic bread, but also lovely with hoummous, pate or dips. Can also grate and use as breadcrumbs, they freeze quite well. Guess you could prob use it for bread and butter pudding, if you like them?
edit: hob nobs are now sitting in the kitchen looking and tasting lovely, how easy are they to make! Also made some of the millie's cookies, this time with apricots and choc chips and vanilla essence, smell lovely - must hide them when they cool down, planning to put some in the freezer for lunchboxes, and they won't get there if I don't put them in before kids arrive home!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
OMG Shaz they look delicious!!!
mummysaver - what are Millie's Cookies?0 -
thanks mummysaver - i looovvvvvvvveeeeeeeee bread and butter and bread pudding unfortunately the rest of the family don't so it goes straight onto my hips/tums  . am also looking thru the lovefoodhatewaste website - they have some really nice recipes on there
do you have the recipe for millies cookies?? i haven't tried these yet0 -
Just a quick note to say this isn't my recipe, think it might be Weezl's or have come off her challenge thread, so thanks to whoever originally posted it! :j
3oz butter
3oz granulated sugar
3oz brown sugar (can just use all white granulated, works just fine)
vanilla essence
1 egg
6oz s/r flour
pinch salt
4oz choc chips
Mix all ingredients together. Preheat oven to 180c. Put spoonfuls on greaseproof paper and cook for 11 mins precisely.
Cookies should still be soft when they come out of the oven, they will harden a bit. Peel off greaseproof when they cool.
You can replace the choc with raisins and they are our fave at the mo! Also works well with orange essence and replacing a tbsp of flour with cocoa powder. We like tesco value choc best in these, asda stuff disintigrates! dd2 is an expert at making these now, she has made so many! Have had to give recipe to lots of neighbours in the village now - except one who laughed and said it's ok the girls can just come and cook at your house
Just had one of my choc and apricot ones, not as nice as the raisin ones though!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0
