I have made the bacon and cheese loaf out of the panny recipe leaflet today, another success!
This bread machine really is the business.
I bought from Lakeland some of their breathable bread bags that are on 3 for 2. I put the bread straight in there after it had cooked and no condensation.0 -
Hi Sammy here's the apple braid one
Dough.
1 sachet yeast
15 oz strong bread flour
3/4 tsp salt
4 tbspn sugar (less if wanted)
4 1/2 tbspn butter
2 eggs
6 fl oz milk
I find this comes out a bit on the sticky side sometimes so you may need a bit of extra flour to hand *I make this up in my MR haven't tried it in the Panny yet!*
Set for white bread dough..
Filling.
2 eating apples
1 1/2 tsp plain flour
2 tbspn sugar
3/4 tspn cinammon
3/4 tspn lemon juice
3 tbspns sultanas
Peel, core and chop apples into small pieces toss with the remaining ingredients.
Roll out dough to 1/3 inch thick rectangle shape.Mark lightly from top to bottom into thirds without cutting!! On the outer thirds make diagonal cuts about 1 inch wide.
Place the filling down the centre of the dough then plait the dough over the top.
Cover loosely and rise for 30 mins then bake for approx 30 mins til golden brown.Gas mark 4/180 c/350 f
These cooked up fast so do keep an eye on them after about 15 mins..as you can see I went for a wander round the garden and just caught mine in time :rotfl:
Will dig out the brownie recipe and add it in a sec,the recipe is for gluten free ones but I presume you can substitute normal flour instead, you know I'm going to have to make some more of these now don't you :rotfl: any excuse for chocolate!!
Hope your little one feels better soon !!!
These look very yummy. However I don't eat eggs. Is the texture of this different from normal bread, or could I use a normal dough and just make it sweeter?0 -
Banana Bread
3 bananas mashed
225g SR Flour
2 eggs, beaten
2tblsp butter (I estimate 2 tblsp)
75g sugar
cream the sugar and butter till very creamy, stir in the eggs then add the flour and banana's. You may need a little milk to stop the mix being too dry. Put mix in a greased loaf tin (I use 2 small loaf tins and get 2 decent sized loaves) and bake in the middle of the oven at 180degC for an hour.
Tis yummy!
it was the recipe above - I had 4 bananas so I doubled up the other ingredients then grabbed a large handful of apricots and chopped them into small bits and a handful of sunflower seeds and "threw them in" - very scientific!! I did need to add a couple of dashes of milk to stop the mix being too dry and got 3 large loaves. I have been using this recipe for 15+ years so I have got used to how the mix works and will play about with it0 -
Yategirl I love scientifical recipes
especially chucks and dollops :rotfl:
Justamum the eggs are there to enrich the dough and make it softer but there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to do it without but you'd have to replace them with a bit more milk.
Bootman my mum went home clutching your butter instructions todayshe was really chuffed and can't wait to have a go I can see her dragging my dad round all the supermarkets tomorrow looking for discounted cream :rotfl: Glad you're finding your new 'toy' such an asset thats brill !!
PurpleIvy what a great idea..I'm always getting the knock for cakes so I'll do spares to live in the freezer I think :T Some weeks the boys plough through bananas other weeks they don't eat any so I get a glut!I tend to rotate our cakes or else they get bored so can't do banana ones too often..0 -
I use this lemon cake recipe - it is delish - I do it as a tray bake
Lemon and poppy seed traybake
cake:
41/2 oz soft baking marg
4 1/2 oz caster sugar
6oz white self raising flour
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3 tbsp milk
finely grated rind of 1 lemon
1 oz poppy seeds
topping:
4 oz granulated sugar
juice of 1 lemon
12x9" traybake tin lined with foil and brushed with oil. Preheat oven to 180c.
Beat all cake ingredients for about 2 mins until smooth. Turn mixture into tin and level top. Bake for 20-25 mins until golden brown and showing signs of shrinking away from sides of tin. Mix together granulated sugar and lemon juice and brush topping over surface of the hot cake ( while it is still in the tin and foil - it will run every where otherwise... )
