:rotfl: I have started storing all my baking bits and bats in old margarine tubs and must admit that it makes loads more room in my cupboards and best of all it looks tidier.I'm on the hunt for some big airtight containers now to store my flour in cos all this talk of weevils and flour mites etc has got me paranoid about being infested.

Well there wont be any baking done in this house today which isnt a bad thing cos I've still got some choc chip muffins, bakewell tart and magic buns left from last time that need eating up.Hubby is on his 11 days off so he's about to start tiling my kitchen walls which is absolutely fabulous because since our youngest decided to decorate our wallpaper in his own inimitable style the walls have been bare and I feel like I'm living in a right slum!Went to B&Q yesterday for some tile adhesive and they had the most gorgeous floor tiles all polished limestone.I nearly wet myself in delight:rotfl: But they are fearsomely expensive so I've decided that as Thursday is half price listing day on Ebay I'm going to take advantage of the offer and post all the stuff on there that is just cluttering the house up.So the knitting machine that I have never managed to master and the Beer Chilling system like the ones that you get in pubs that for some reason hubby bought even though he doesnt drink beer  are going to be got rid of and whatever I make will be put towards the new floor tiles. So fingers crossed it makes enough cos the tiles were beautiful and I can almost see them in my kitchen now:D

Dee nice to have you back by the way,you were gone so long I was convinced we were going to have to send a search party to find you:rotfl:

  • THE WANDERER RETURNS.................

    Hello All,
I am still here , havent been lost under any landslides or anything - although did have a big bloody whale wash ashore jsut before Christmas!

We are ok, been budgettign alot and trying to help my hosue recover after chrismtas but getting there. Have been keeping up my baking and cooking from scratch - bf had a bit of a shock at new year of mr debt collector gettign upset and threatening bayliffs so we've had to tighten our belt and now hes on the packed lunches to work so he can make his payments and he wants to save to go to a VW show in March so he is savign for that where he can. Luckily his mate gets a free car form work and a free gas card so there is no travel expenses so he only has to pay to get in and for whatever he buys there - although if he buys at the show it is a lot cheaper adn means we are a few steps closer to having a car on the road.

Was well impressed my gas and electric bill for 3 months OVER christmas was only £178.36 - which i think was pretty good considering the amount of baking i did - all thanks to MSE and the gettign ready for winter threads of course - althoguh my family loves the fruit braids so that has substituted soem puddings/snacks/breakfasts etc which is helpful.

Im going to have a soup making day today when ben goes to school have been meaning to for a while now but still havent got around to it yet which is a pain in the backside and it needs doing today before the veg starts to turn otherwise ill never get round to doing it!

Have to dig out material later too as have soem thigns that id liek to make and little bits that i could do with making although need to ring the sewing machine company to find out how the hell to thread my machine first - the way it looks like it should be thread isnt working and it just rips the thread straight out which is a pain in the @ss!!!

Anyway i am still here, and ill be poppign in alot more now since Benji is back at school - will add pictures when i manage to download them too!!!!

    Hope your all well!

    Love

    :rotfl: A WHALE ??????!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:
Its never quiet there is it lol :D
What machine have you got Sammy? The easiest way to remember to thread it is up and down...eg once you come through the tension thing go down under/through the next one then up/over the next etc *does this make sense*??

Have had to make an appointment at the quacks..good job its nothing serious as I can't get in until Wednesday night  My skin has flared up again I always get it when I'm stressed so I currently look like I've got sunburn :o wouldn't mind if I'd been anywhere hot!!!

Been to change a pair of trainers, stuck some dough in the BM for some seeded baps and have to pick his nibs up at 12 for the dentist..joy!!!

Jcr don't suppose throws would be any good for the couch as the 'littlies' would probably use them as tents! My arms are still killing me today good job I'm not baking!

I need to get into the garden as I have turnips the size of my head growing and fancy some turnip soup  the leeks are still going and my parsnips are submerged under a sea of mud :rotfl:

I read on another thread there is a Lakeland code DW1 £10 off a £25 spend. Have not placed my order yet though, to check it works.

OK, they're in. Nice cup of coffee and river cottage on more 4 +1!
Can't see me getting much done tonight but I could bring it all in here and do the washing sorting and ironing?
I'll just have a browse first!
Anyone else joining in the great big declutter? I've sooo much to get sorted and get rid of. Maybe I'll have room to move come the end of the year!!

Kaz I'm *trying* to be good and declutter..(she says stashing the new heap of fabric under the bed..)
I've found since joining the flylady thread I'm getting a bit better :D although I still have a looong way to go!That said I have boxed up/thrown/recycled a lot since Xmas so if I can keep the momentum going it should hopefully stay like it,problem is I've got a really hectic couple of weeks so things always tend to slide...

Lesley the locknlock ones are the ones I got for my flours and I used the code ;) thanks Bootman :D ...not that I'm encouraging any more Lakeland purchases of course :rotfl:

PurpleIvy I love damson jam too but its such a fiddle! I usually time it for when my dad is over he takes great pleasure in stoning fruit, comes in rather handy and he gets a pot of jam for his troubles..only problem is his eyesight is going a bit so I nearly broke a tooth on the last batch, must remember to double check the next lot :rotfl:

Dee, great to see you back and you too Sammy, not been the same without you. Tip for getting the stones out for plum jam. Cook the fruit, stones in, let it cool then put on a polythene glove and get in there and squeeze all the stones out. Bit messy, but, well it's one way.

dee i do have throws on them, kids think they are great , lol. i put throws on them as i was fed up with always cleaning them. and although the throws are cream , they are so easy to wash that it don't matter. expect i find throws never look tidy.

we have said we are going to buy a leather sofa before baby is born. but have to see how the coinage goes.

i'm off to morrisons tongiht for milk and fruit. i have £5 i am taking with me. hopeing i can get some bargins.

    i only need milk £1.34
    Bananas 94p

Nice to see you back DD. Wow, covering a sofa can't be an easy task:eek:

With regards to these 'Lock and lock' containers. Have a look in your local pound shops. I got 2 large (2.4ltr) ones for a pound each. They have the rubber seal inside the lid and a lock catch on all 4 sides. Nice and sturdy too - a real bargain:D

I got some lock containers from Matalan - I use the big ones for flour and sugar - think they are £2.50 each. They are very similar to the ones in Tesco although a bit cheaper.
