I've been reading but not posting much as not feeling well; had this dratted virus and its come back for the third time and worse than ever; hope this is its final fling!
Aww rosie I thought I hadn't 'seen you around ' much and wondered if you were OK. Hope you feel better soon. Take care XNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0 -
hope you feel better soon rosie..
i thought i'd give this thread a kick up the rear end with a soup recipe, from my storecupboards! would be a good one for halloween (i jokingly called it warty toad soup on my blog), for kids (you could make them eat their cool veggies by muttering "hubble trouble boil or whateveritis" over it, and pretending to add wing of bat n stuff like that!!) or for lunchtime (if you could bear the "eww" comments from coworkers!), cheap, healthy, filling, it wins all round! I got the idea when someone was discussing pesto - they suggested something similar to this but with pesto. i haven't tried it with pesto yet. i just LOVE mint jelly!
250g frozen peas / half pint of stock (I make mine up from 1 heaped tsp marigold’s boullion, which is vegetarian, but you could use chicken stock or even ham stock) / 1 to 1.5 tsp mint jelly (i like the sweetness and mintiness so i put more in, but you could use mint sauce too, if you like, or you could put less mint jelly in).
1. put peas in saucepan.
2. pour stock ontop.
3. bring to the boil. turn heat down and simmer for a few minutes.
4. turn out heat, put minted jelly into pan too, and whizz with a blending stick or pour into a blender and whizz there.
5. season and serve with bread and butter.
there's a photo on the blog if anyone wants to see what it looks like. its green, though, i warn you!

Hello, 87 pages on I know the doughnut stuff is in here somewhere....anyone able to answer these few questions or point me to somewhere wayyyyy back which does...
Tried my new doughnut maker tonight, made the recipe as per the instructions (tesco one) weren't very nice really, is there another recipe anyone knows I can use? Also - is there a better method for putting the mix in than with a spoon? I shake a lot unfortunately and made a right mess today, plus the problem that my son expected a 'hole' in it but me spooning in mean't the mix went everywhere. Oh and do they freeze well? Any tips or hints on freezing them? My son asked if he can have one in his packed lunch but I don't fancy trying to make them first thing on a morning.
rosieben and mollymop hope you are both better soonOne day I might be more organised...........

I've not had doughnuts for ages but will make some in the morning. I think it's because DH and I keep using the eggs to have fried eggs/ boiled or something else for teas as we're desecrating the house right now!
Must get on and do some though because I wanted to put them into DD's lunchbox.
I made HM pizza the night before last in the BM. Not impressed in the slightest. Really sticky dough and used loads of yeast. DD didn't like the smell of it and we all commented on how sweet it was despite me leaving out the sugar.
I've made pizza bases before and can't remember the recipe I used. I did it by hand so if anyone can come up with the recipe please give me a shout.
Actually I think I did it in the food processor.
I have some space in the freezer ATM and some reduced turkey. I reckon I ought to make a few pizzas for the coming weeks so that I have some thing to just shove in the oven when we are too busy decorating.
Any ideas about hm chips that could be frozen? How about preparing them and part cooking when I'm cooking something else- then stick them in the freezer and fry from defrosted?
I couldn't believe it last night when I went to get my flour out and I was on my last bag. Emergency shopping trip tomorrow I think!
