Well I finally got around to making the braid today. I split it in half and made a cheese and onion one (and its lush!) and a plain one for icing (not sampled that one yet). It was a bit sticky as someone warned earlier (thanks whoever posted that) but some extra flour soon sorted it out. Its such a brilliant recipe, will be a regular from now on, Thanks Kethry :T

wasn't me!! I've never made the braid, yet, anyway! I think it was DD&D. :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I have been doing the washing powder and soda crystal thing for a while now.

I read it on this website and have not looked back. Both my husband and son were prone to dry skin outbreaks, since changing the washing, no more dry skin!

I use vinegar for my softner, I buy the 2 for £1 bottles in farmfoods. This lasts for ages, you just add a few glugs to the dispenser.

I use probably an egg cup full of wash powder and the same of sada crystals. The ones you get for 55p in the washing isle.

Sometimes if it's my sons really smelly hockey gear, I add some tea Tree drops to the vinegar as well.

Thanks Yategirl, and thanks for the recipe :T - I've made the rolls twice and they're great The first time I made them too big, I sliced them (through the middle) and made 4 slices from each one! :D

hi guys well im back to work on monday:eek: and trying to think of suitable lunchs to take with me, i have already thought of the braid but what fillings can i use, also would love to take soup but have never made it and the thought of it sends me into slight panic.

Another question i have is i treated myself to a expensive leather bag(£160:eek:  Reduced down to £57:j :j ) and obviously dont want it to get ruined in the rain, i have never had leather before and was wondering if i should treat it in some way?

    Hi Purpleivy

Sorry I didn't answer earlier but this is the first chance I've had.

Theres 2 adults full time, 1 adult 3 1/2 days (he works away the rest of the week but I don't count what he eats when he's away because I've no control over it) and 1 away at uni (he's home some weekends now until May when he finishes for summer)

I'm hoping to get my shopping level down to less than £50 a week but thought I'd work on getting stocked up and then whittle it down a fiver every few weeks until its at a manageable but smaller level. I'm working on the theory of baby steps so that I don't try to do too much at first then end up giving up.

re The soup.Give it a go.i never end up with the same soup twice as i'm a chuck it in and see gal. Can't go wrong,

re the leather bag.I have a leather bag and I sprayed it with the waterproof spray I bought with my dd's suede shoes at clarks. It didn't do it any harm and I'm sure it made it repel the water :)

Ok, I got the breadmaker and doughnut maker for xmas.I'm using the slow cooker my friend gave me when she emigrated to Oz.I'm now thinking I should have a yoghurt maker.Well should I? Is it easy to use? will it save me money? or should I just put my money in my sealed pot challenge tin?

Get the yoghurt maker! That's if you use yogurt of course!
