glad you feel abit better jcr :)

lesley - recipe was a bit of a cheat tbh!! I intended to make Bean pesto stew (I posted the recipe the other day) but got home from the shops and realised I had forgotton to get any pesto. SOOO.... I chopped an onion and 2 cloves of garlic and sauteed, then added 3 carrots, a large red pepper and 1 stick of celery plus 3 tins of beans washed and drained (chickpeas, haricot and canneloni I think!) and 2 tins of tomatoes. On top of this I squirted some tomato puree and a good shake of dried marjoram. Needed something else so I hunted through the cupboard and found a sachet of "spag bol mix" by swartz (is part of my camping stash so I don't have to take lots of jars of seasoning).. I haven't used it before so decided to sprinkle on top. I stirred it, put it in the oven at 200deg C and left it from about 3pm till 5.20pm. We ate it in bowls with crusty french bread. I now need to work out how to make the sachet mix myself!!!!!! (it served 2 adults and 2 children (one had an adults serving) plus 2 large portions left over)

Thanks for the baked bean recipe... I will have a go :)

Thanks for the baked bean recipe ravylesley, will try that. one question: how much of the end result does it make?

I'm having a lot of fun cooking stuff from MSE at the moment. I tried purpleivy's pesto pinwheels yesterday, they came out fabby - photos posted on my blog, here. looking forward to trying more things - OH loves this site!!!

oooh loving all these bean recipies. Have several different types of beans in the cupboard and therefore these will come in handy. little one loves beans so will make one of these up with some crusty bread for later in the week.

am doing well at using stuff up from the freezer as they are both groaningly full. I managed to use up one portion of Turkey korma and a savoury mince tonight and have taken out enchilladas for tomorrow (they were on half price a few weeks before xmas). have a vefry very short shopping list this week, fruit, milk and cheese so think I will just do a local shop as opposed to a trip to Mr T's.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The bakewells and the 2 braids I made yesterday have all gone now! Today I have kept the cooking up.

I have made roast chicken pie from yesterdays left over chicken which I did in the slow cooker. I cooked it whole for six hours. It was sat on 1 chopped onion, 2 carrots and just 1 glass of wine added and 2 chicken oxo's. It was really nice. Loads of tasty stock.

The pie pastry was made with the flaky pastry recipe posted on this thread, it was really good, thank you. I used the rest of the juice from the slow cooker and thickened with butter and flour.

I also cooked a huge post of mince with carrot, onion leek celery, 1 tin of tomato's, squirt of puree and 2 oxo's.

I have made enough for 2 meals so I have put one in the fridge for tomorrow and froze the rest.

Yes you should never use any dried bean in the SC without preboiling them first as they contain toxins that can either make you seriously ill or kill you and the boiling destroys them.SC do not reach a sufficient temp to do this

i am just making a savory braid . i ahve the dough in the Bm.

i reduced the sugar from what other have recommend., and i added some dried mixed herbs to the dough.

i plan once the dough is rolled out , to spread with a tomato base , then add chopped hard boiled egg , bacon , sausage and cheese. making it a sort of breakfast/savory braid.

thought hubby would love it for work tomoz. ( if we havent' eaten it by then):rotfl:

it is extremyl dark outside, looks like it gonna rain again. not that i mind i do love this weather. i got so drenched walking to my mums after taking kids to nursery , she put my socks , boots and coat on the aga to dry before i had to go out again. my klids loved it tho walking to school. jumping in every puddle possible.
